KANSAS CITY TEACHABLE MOMENT: EDUCATOR TELLS YOUNGSTER HE'S GONNA GET SHOT BY POLICE!!! INSTRUCTIVE WORD OF WARNING OR OFFENSIVE INSULT???
Let's call this a discussion of Kansas City metro pedagogy.
First, a headline run down of the sitch:
Blavity: This 10-Year-Old Says His Teacher Told Him He'll Only Have Himself To Blame 'When You Turn 16 And The Police Shoot You'
Fox4 Broke The Story: Ten years ago, when the youngster was just seven months old. someone shot and killed his father in Kansas City.
Newsone: Here’s How White Privilege Affects Black Boys And Girls In School
And so, we ask our blog community . . .
IS THIS TOUGH LOVE BECAUSE SOMETIMES THE TRUTH HURTS?!?!? OR WAS THIS A STUNNING LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM FROM THIS TEACHER?!?!
For our edification:
Time: Guns kill about 10 times more black children than they do white children each year, according to a new analysis.
Vox: Black people are much more likely to be shot by police than their white peers.
Vice: Cops Are Nearly 3 Times More Likely to Kill Black Americans Than White Americans
Just so we don't get hung up on crime stats, here's a bit of number crunching that counters preconceptions about crime and should inspire a bit more fear of local meth addicts no matter what their color . . .

The numbers are important but this story is more about the best way to prepare the NextGen for the future. Fear or hope???
This lesson will resonate with the student for the rest of his life and leaves us with more important questions about how to most effectively impart wisdom.
You decide . . .
A problem teacher to be sure.
ReplyDeleteThat's probably just some of the crazy things she said to students. I'm guessing she gets paid 6 figures for her trouble and has tenure.
Thank you Kansas judges!
No worries. KCPD couldn't hit the side of a barn.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day at work...oh, wait, I forgot, you spend your days/nights playing video games and eating Cheetos in mommy's basement, don't ya? Well, good luck with that career choice, loser.
Delete9:11, wrong. KCPD could hit the side of a barn if they are aiming at something else.
ReplyDeleteThis story doesn't add up.
ReplyDeleteSee how much progress black people are making? 75 years ago the teacher would have told him he was going to get lynched.
ReplyDelete^^^^ now that’s funny right there!
ReplyDelete“This lesson will resonate with the student for the rest of his life”
ReplyDeleteThat was the whole point, maybe he won’t be as stupid as his dad.
Nice to see that at his tender age he has already mastered crying on cue. That will come in handy when he sues the police department for roughing him up a bit when they arrest him. But he needs to work on his money line: "I felt just like a slave on a plantation."
ReplyDeleteGuns don't kill anyone! It's people that kill people.

StupidDave, their preferred weapon is the gun.
ReplyDeleteOne of the victims in Texas was a foreign exchange student.
Tourists are already being warned away because of our deliberate Second Amendment Insanity.
If I'm not mistaken, George Lincoln Rockwell was the dingleberry who used to stand around wearing a Nazi Uniform with a Confederate Flag on the shoulder (talk about the ability to pick a winner). He grabbed a couple of headlines in the 50s and 60s until one of his own nutcase followers blew his head off! You, my friend are not a pimple on the ass of George Lincoln Rockwell
ReplyDelete12:56 when was the last time a gun plotted and set into motion a killing spree? It has never happened and it never will unless someone creates a totally self thinking gun.
ReplyDeleteTim McVeigh killed 168 men women and children while injuring 684 others. I have never seen ammonium nitrate and nitromethane as being the blame for all those deaths.
Killers and psychos are who go around killing people but I wouldn't expect a douchebag like you to understand something as simple as that.
STFU, psycho.
ReplyDeleteAgree with @9:34. Something about this story smells like a rat.
ReplyDeletePoor 2:58, just can't handle the truth can you?
ReplyDeleteCops kill people that need killing. If you don’t want to be their target, don’t do crime and cooperate with the cops when you come in contact. Some groups are many more times likely not to heed this advice.
ReplyDeleteThat's Commander Rockwell, ww2 vet to you. And no response to my assessment. Why, its the simple truth. Everytime.
ReplyDeleteTeachers in the midwest are mostly trash.
ReplyDeleteThis is no exception.
^^^ Dumb comment. Go back to school!
ReplyDeleteStupor Dave is at it again. Going down moron rabbit holes. Ammonium nitrate isn't blamed, but is extremely dangerous, which is why it is heavily regulated and controlled. We don't let any asshole walk into a fertilizer store and buy bulk quantities without background checks.
ReplyDeleteMost of us would settle for the same controls on guns to keep them out of the hands of criminals and terrorists. Things that can be used as mass causality weapons are generally regulated. Guns shouldn't be exempt.
Killers will be evil, but don't give them access to WMD. They can't kill 150 people with a knife.
Best and brightest lined up early in the comments.
ReplyDeleteThere is no K to 12 tenure in Kansas. Never has been.
In 2014, the KS Legislature even eliminated due process that had provided for a hearing and districts needed to show cause to fire teachers that built up service years. Now they don't even need to provide a reason to fire them.
As for 6 figure salaries, you're trolling or an idiot. If you're going to mock, at least try to be a tiny bit accurate.
Someone needs to swat 4:19 to prove him wrong.
ReplyDeleteSend the cops on a hoax call to show him even doing nothing wrong and following commands can still get you killed.
It happens a lot you moron. You could be next.
to the fool at 7:55 you're so ignorant. I can buy all the fertilizer I want and not have to show or sign any paperwork. Most of the fields we plant on where I work take app 1200 lbs each of fertilizer alone every year. I have walked into Grass Pad bought 100 bags of fertilizer paid with cash and nobody asked me for even the time of day. Get your facts straight before you call someone else stupid.
ReplyDeleteSounds to me like the teacher’s crystal ball is pretty accurate. If you watch the Fox 4 video, pics are indeed worth a thousand words. Big Momma .... yikes! And they’re so worried about his education, yet he’s already focused on the football bling.
ReplyDeleteA careless comment but hopefully the young man stays on the straight and narrow.
