Here's just a bit of Friday fake news which has absolutely ZERO understanding of Kansas City's history on this topic.
A sports "newsie" is garnering great traction for this sketchy report:
Accordingly, let's not forget that Kansas City voters were promised an NBA or NHL team in exchange for approving $300-MILLION+ worth of local taxes when the Sprint Center opened on October 10, 2007.
Kansas City political Machiavelli Steve Glorioso went to the grave trying to dismiss this campaign promise as mere rhetoric and refocusing attention on the so-called "renaissance" of Downtown.
Since that time there's been very little progress and locals have been happy to host B-list concerts and old school bands attempting to reclaim their former glory in smaller towns.
Moreover . . .
KANSAS CITY ELECTED OFFICIALS HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING FROM THE NBA AND THIS RUMOR ALWAYS POPS UP EVERY COUPLE OF YEARS!!!
However . . .
A lot has changed since 2007 and Downtown hype along with NBA ratings are on an upswing.
During a murder spree and worsening local poverty. It kinda makes sense, or at least follows a pattern, that Kansas City would spent big bucks for pro-basketball.
Developing . . .
Great.
ReplyDeleteMillions more out of the general fund to support another local team.
The Kansas City Slys?
It's Twitter. You can have a hell of a time starting fights and talking about Trump.
DeleteThey said this in 2015 as well, too. I think a few of the councilmen got some great donations out of the deal.
It's from an NBA announcer, of course they're going to want to drum up business.
DeleteThe Kansas City bullets?
ReplyDeleteLook at the guy's other posts. He hit it big by starting this rumor and picked up 1000 followers in less than a day. Other than that it looks like he's been struggling to build an audience despite the fact that he's on national TV.
ReplyDeleteIt's really obvious what he's doing. And some of it probably involves looking for a new job.
Sports team are typically a drain on local economies. The Sprint Center seems to be getting along fine with concerts. Why change now, just to give away more money to the NBA?
DeleteNO THANKS!
Great, the Royals lose 100 games and now we will get a basketball team that will do the same? That sounds like a plan. The NBA track record on expansion teams is abysmal. Not sure Kansas City should try the same experiment.
ReplyDeleteDipshit, they can’t lose 100games because they only play 82. Dumb ass.
DeleteWhy do stupid fuckers comment about things they know nothing about? The season is only 82 games long. Shut the fuck up.
DeleteFree tickets for everybody!
ReplyDeleteWill never happen, just another twitter troll. Just like the President.
ReplyDelete^^ Me thinks you're the troll bitch. MAGA KC
ReplyDeleteR.I.P. Steve, I didn't agree with you but I admire your salesmanship.
ReplyDelete10 years later and still waiting.
ReplyDeleteCould have saved Millions and just keep having concerts at Kemper
@8:01 Good one! and I am black.
ReplyDeleteI hope Steve is dancing in hell. His lies have cost millions. He was a fucking snake!!!
ReplyDeleteGREAT OPPORTUNITY FOR THE LIBERAL DOUCHEBAG METROSEXUAL TRANNY BITCHES SHIT HOLE EATING BLACK ASS BANGERS BOYZ INNER CITY YOUTH TO SHOOT , ROB , RAPE , BEATDOWN AND CARJACK THE WHITE MAN !¡
ReplyDeleteBecause of the recent SCOTUS decision about gambling and with the success of the Las Vegas NHL team and the fact that the NBA has had All Star games in Vegas my moneys on them. Besides, 41 home games with an average ticket price of $65 the local economy can't and won't support it.
ReplyDeleteVote for Sprint Center and get an NBA team, vote for the airport and we could get the new Amazon headquarters. Anybody see a pattern?
ReplyDeleteI guess doing poorly in three sports has a certain attractiveness.
ReplyDeleteGreat, an organized urban out of control youth attraction with suburban whites mixed in as potential victims, good times. The new NBA Kansas City Crossfires.
ReplyDeleteYeah the last thing this town needs is five more negroes.
ReplyDeleteThe Kansas City / Omaha Martin Luther Kings !!!
ReplyDeleteNobody cares about the NBA and we don't want a team here. More opportunity for senseless violence.
ReplyDeleteGlorioso doesn't matter, he's dead! So is the chances KC will get NBA or NHL team in T-Mobile center.
ReplyDeleteSteve always supported spending other peoples money. Just another hog at the trough.
