KANSAS CITY HATES DEMOCRACY!!! STREETCAR PRIVATE MAIL-IN BALLOT PERSISTS DESPITE VOTE DEMANDING CITYWIDE PARTICIPATION!!!

For the record, in 2017 voters passed a measure requiring a CITYWIDE vote before extending the streetcar. 51.3 percent of Kansas City voters approved.

Sadly . . .

IN KANSAS CITY ELECTIONS DON'T MATTER AND A RIGGED VOTE CONTINUES DESPITE CITYWIDE DEMAND TO PARTICIPATE IN THE STREETCAR!!!

Today's example because local media keeps ignoring or failing to mention an election that poses a significant challenge to this scheme:

Kansas City voters to receive mail-in ballots for streetcar expansion

Ballots are being mailed Tuesday for Kansas City residents to vote on extending the streetcar line. The extension would be the final link in the chain to expand the line south to UMKC, Rockhurst University and the Plaza. The streetcar route extends north to the River Market district.

  1. Dead on arrival technology. Autonomous cars will replace it. It will be in the way of progress. Wake up KC it is a dumb idea from the beginning. 40 years ago cool, now dumb.

  2. From the beginning, THE streetcar has been the con job of a little group of "transit activists" who managed to boondoggle the KCMO electeds into abusing the TDD law, ignoring the will of the residents, and spending millions of taxpayer dollars, including hundreds of thousands from the PIAC fund for infrastructure repair, to give them their toy.
An actual election in which residents could express their views resulted in a majority voting AGAINST a streetcar expansion.
Yet here's the latest convoluted process pressed by the same little gimlet-eyed gang desperate for a few hundred million more.
Of course, in the last sales tax election for an issue that will run for 20 years, the turnout was only 8%.
KCMO is where representative democracy goes to die.

  3. ^^So? What of it? You don't have to live here. Why don't you go? Broke? Lazy? Stupid? All of the above? Likely.

  4. 2:23: That is the most stupid response I've seen on TKC in quite a while, and that says a lot. If we don't like Main Street torn up and reduced to a 2-lane street because of some twerps who use a crooked system to force property taxes on residents and sales tax on consumers, WE'RE supposed to leave?

I hate to break this to you, buddy, but we were here before you were born, and we'll be here to clean up your mess after you leave your fixed rail fair weather only trolley folly behind.

  10. Why aren't buses good enough ? They do the exact same thing, but get this, they can change routes, move when it snows, double up during peak times and best of all they DO REQUIRE TRACKS. How f...ing stupid are the people running this city ?

  11. ^^;DO NOT REQUIRE TRACKS, the stupidity has made my eyes cross.
