TKC SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! CONGRESSMAN YODER STANDS UP AGAINST KANSAS CITY 'MARCH FOR OUR LIVES' MOVEMENT: WILL IT HURT HIS REELECTION OR SAVE HIS JOB?!?!
Progressives across the nation have targeted Kansas 3rd District Congressman Yoder for an election challenge that may believe will prove successful. They cite voting and demographic shifts in lower JoCo that weaken Republican support and note that Democratic candidates have often had a great deal of success in this part of the Sunflower State. However, the sordid topic of gun rights could give the embattled politico the edge he needs . . . Along with the fact that he has DOUBLED the fundraising of all of his opponents put together.
Today's rhetorical battle . . .
Yoder does not attend March for Our Lives KC’s town hall, releases statement
The Saturday anti-gun political showcase was another achievement for this Democratic Party political youth movement but Rep. Yoder's absence calls their motives into question.
Statement From Congressman Yoder . . .
“These students absolutely have the right to have their voices heard, but Saturday’s last minute event will by hijacked by forces that want to politicize this tragedy and use it as a political wedge issue. Kevin is more than happy to meet with these students to continue a community discussion about what changes in policies would create a meaningful impact on their safety. Their voices have significant value in this debate and he looks forward to hearing their perspective."
“Turning a serious, important issue into a political rally is the wrong approach to solving our nation’s toughest problems. Since the Parkland shooting, Kevin’s been focused on solutions like lifting the ban on gun violence research at the CDC, enhancing the background check system, new funding for armed resource officers and other deterrents, and getting new regulations banning bump stock devices. As he’s said, doing nothing is not an option. And Congress has followed through with action.”
Like it or not, the topic gun crackdowns doesn't have very deep support in the Heartland where 2nd Ammendment freedoms have historically been part of the local culture since the settling/robbery of the territory.
Congressman Yoder capitalizing on this wedge issue might very well prove effective as voters seem less excited about more anti-gun legislation than activists realize. While Rep. Kevin Yoder has always been known as a bit of a RINO/Moderate, this line in the sand might encourage the support he needs OR could inspire stronger opposition to his reelection efforts. You decide . . .
Either way all of this inspires our playlist tonight:
As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night.
The money is the key.
ReplyDeleteIf the democrats really want to take him on, they're going to need a lot more cash. So far we haven't seen the kind of support they need.
THAT is the real keep to holding power.
It's just as much about fundraising as politics. Sorry.
Yoder +8
ReplyDeleteWho cares. Yoder hates Kansans as much as everyone else. Only rubes give a fuck about what politicians say and do. Newsflash: Yoder wouldn’t piss on you if you were on fire. Neither side would.
ReplyDelete8:47, obviously you do not know Kevin personally. He cares. He's not a hater. And he is on the House Appropriations Committee, making a difference.
ReplyDeleteHe was absolutely right in characterizing the rah rah rally Sat. as a Dem. primary event. To quote Mary O'Halloran on Ruckus, there are twice as many registered R's in Joco than there are Dems." And thank you, Tony, for linking Ruckus and Week in Review from Ch. 19 every week, making it so easy to catch up
The Dems in Joco are really Bernie Sanders supporters, not Hillary. Except they will never move back to KCMO. They just love the nobless oblige liberal view--without the dangers of hanging out in Westport or the Plaza or P&L. And ALL of ther supposed candidates to take out Kevin Yoder have never run for office for ANYTHING, let alone served. And the last Great White Dem. Hope candidate was an unemployed lawyer/society dame who was drummed out of her law firm for inappropriate sexual comments. In other words, Al Franken in a turquoise sheath dress with pearls and a spray tan.
You can't beat somebody, who actually answers questions, with a wannabe Nobody.
Work for your choice for governor. That's the only race that really affects Johnson County.
The kids are being used, and so are the adults who wasted their Sat. at a pep rally for a losing team. You'll never get those hours back.
Congress plays hardball.
Proud to remain a Yoder voter!
ReplyDeleteAs a proud registered Independent I have voted for Yoder but not this time. The day he comes out and denounces Trumps behavior I may rethink my position and the same goes for Moran and Robertson. I didn't vote for Hillary or Trump either I voted Kasich/Warren.
ReplyDeleteYoder us not so much of a moderate, he just isn't as mean as Trump. Support a change for Kansas.
ReplyDelete10:21 Libtard hiding behind independent title. Don't need your vote. Kasich/Warren? Almost as bad as Hilarious. Kasich is a total pussy, always holding up his finger to see which way political wind is blowing.
ReplyDeleteThere is no middle ground in this debate. Ted Nugent called on NRA members to kill Democrats on sight. That's the argument for banning the NRA as a terrorist organization. His imploring people to kill is not covered by the First Amendment.
ReplyDeleteBTW, amendments to the constitution are not the constitution. I want the Second Amendment repealed. So, you better find out who I am and kill me. Ted Nugent said it would be okay.
^WTF? Drunk? Delirious? Now how the hell are you confusing Farrakhan with Nugent? It is the Nation of Islam's guy who ordered blacks to kill whites on more than one occasion. We all know who the terrorist organization is.
Delete12:13 That's a bald faced Lie.
ReplyDeleteIf you're looking for life advice from Nugent or Farrakhan then please keep looking.
ReplyDeleteHilarious to see all those stupid kids marching to have their rights taken away.
ReplyDeleteThe Hitler Youth were like that.
6:57 Generation tide pod is too stooped to realize that!
ReplyDeleteStoopid! Using the kids words!
ReplyDelete12:13 is a cnn lover and wannabe, your fake news and you won’t get far on this blog with stupid comments like that, just sayin!
ReplyDeleteTKC and contributors to TKC need to cross their T's and dot their I's or they will be on the new Department of Homeland Security media influencers, conspiracy theorists, bloggers watch list. In other words DHS wants to control free speech and diminish anything that does not fit the narrative.

Do not know about all of you but I believe it is time to resurrect the tin foil hats. Fact is I need some venture capital so I can ramp up production of such hats.
Better be careful out there in the digital world.

ReplyDeleteI’m voting for Yoder
ReplyDeleteYou would. Retard.
ReplyDelete11:14 p.m.--Opinions are like rectal orifices everybody has one your rectal orifice seems to be bigger than most humans.
ReplyDelete10:40 dream on loser, your utopian world of progressives winning and leading our country is a pipe dream that will never happen. What will you do when you realize that? You seriously need to quit eating those tide pods, there not good for you sweetie! Lmao!
ReplyDeleteYoder is the drunk who skinnydipped in the Sea of Gallilee while in Israel on AIPAC payroll. Talk about election interference-- Russians are amateurs!
ReplyDeleteYoder has also lost support from both the tea party and moderate GOP wings.
ReplyDeleteHe hasn't held a town hall in years.
He continues to proudly vote yes for all the budget busting spending bills.
His newsletters read like Trump's tweets, filled with exaggerations and lies. He has become a Trump puppet.
Yoder should follow the lead of 38 other House Republican House members and retire. Better to walk away than get fired. Swamp creatures will not survive the November wave.
