TKC SATURDAY NIGH PLAYLIST!!! MAYOR SLY JAMES SHARES HOPE FOR SOLUTION TO ONGOING KANSAS CITY MURDER SPIKE!!!

By far, the most newsworthy political action of this week was an open letter to Mayor Sly James & Council from Kansas City biz dude Bill George.

To be fair, we wanted to share the response . . .

Read Mayor Sly's reaction to Bill George and hope for a local solution to the ongoing murder spike.

Highlight:

Mayor Sly James: "We have to turn our anger, frustration and hopelessness into action and part of that is gaining perspective. Perhaps you would like to join me at our next KC No Violence Alliance (NoVA) Call-In. We’ll be scheduling the next one shortly, and I will send you the details. I know you’re familiar with KC NoVA, but as a reminder, this effort focuses on group violence and individuals most likely to perpetrate violent crime in our neighborhoods. The KC NoVA Governing Board, including KCPD, ATF, FBI, US Attorney, Jackson County Prosecutor, and I, hosts these Call-Ins quarterly in order to offer a variety of social services to the individuals selected to attend in exchange for an end to a life of crime. We also warn them that if they reject these offers of service and then either they or their associates engage in violence, we will focus all of our attention on them. To date, group-related violence has decreased by more than 10%."

Read this whole thing.

The reality is that ongoing conversation and continued writing back and forth about the local murder rate is possibly the best indication that locals are taking this problem seriously. The topic taking precedence over the greedy development agenda which dominates the local discourse among hipsters, callous consultants and desperate denizens of the creative class is encouraging. Whether the perspectives are hopeful, pessimistic, angry or strident . . . Ongoing communication as the murder rate continues to rise is critical.

And so, this local exchange of letters among the Kansas City elite inspires our playlist tonight.

As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night.

  1. Seems to be that bill was writing his perspective and hoping for solutions outside of the box. The mayor just gave him the company line. If it was working, then we wouldn't keep having so many killings.

  2. Sly Lies. We know he reads this, Go4KC... Sly you lie. Shame on you, fat fuck.

  3. What a load of horse shit from the guy who has overseen three budget cuts to the police department totaling $45 million dollars during his administration. The result of those cuts is that 100 LE positions and about 200 civilian positions had to be eliminated from the police department. Only, here's the thing, the work those 300 people were doing didn't go away! But NOVA will save us all... RIGHT!!!

  4. SLY is full of complete BULLSHIT!! Total bureaucratic nonsense! Please, someone, get him a job in the Trump Administration. Please, just get SLY out of town!!!!

  5. Trump would hire him then remind him how bad he trash talked him just so he could tell him “Your Fired”

  7. Leave it to a business man to tell sLIE enough is enough, he’s only responding to him because Jolie needs his money. He never cared what the citizens said or wanted

  8. Was nothing but two idiots having a media conversation. Neither James or George really give a rats ass about Kansas City. It's all about whats going to give them what is best and the most publicity.

  9. NoVa has been around for almost five years and 2017 had the highest number of KCMO homicides in decades.
It's beyond belief that "programs" like this and the long list of nonprofits are funded year after year with zero results and not even any accountability of how the tax money they get is spent.
How about defunding make-believe organizations like Mothers in Charge, NoVa, Aim4Peace, ad Hoc, ridiculous social workers, and all the other grifters on the public payroll, do the same for some of the $20million/year in COMBAT, and put some of that money into hiring more KCPD officers and deploying them into high-crime parts of the city?
The public deserves a safe community and the highest responsibility of any level of government is safety.
Sly and the gang at 12th and Oak are worse than just jokes.
    They're irresponsible cowards.

  10. Slie continually pushing for more committees and meetings which obviously does not work.
Slie's gang is afraid to address the real problem which is too many blacks killing people.

  11. Sly is a coward. He's black so he should have the political capital to do what needs to be done about crime: come down hard on black people, you know, the ones committing almost all of the crime. He needs to go Giuliani here in KC but we all know he won't. You would have thought him dodging bullets on the Plaza would have done it but no. Apparently he is in favor of massive black-on-white hate crimes. Speaking of the Plaza, surely the hoodrats raised hell there this weekend.

  12. Let’s be honest. You just had a guy in broad day light, in front of several witnesses and seen on camera gun down a guy on the street and hasn’t been caught yet. The homocide clearance rate is below 30% and you can pretty much kill a stranger in this city and get away with it. But you clowns keep electing and appointing people that have no clue on how to solve these issues. The blame starts with each of us.
