LOL: Kansas City Star Talks Fake News

Credit where it's due . . . Helling is one of the last few to push back against DNC talking points that are seemingly distributed at the daily print outlet - When the mood strikes him. As Youtube confronts gunfire today, here's a media perspective from a longtime KCMO pro:

Is Sinclair Broadcasting's 'false news' message worth worrying about - or just worthless?

I started my television news career at a small chain of stations in central Nebraska. I covered Grand Island. The station's general manager fancied himself a man of the people. Each night he would take two minutes of newstime to offer pre-recorded commentary on the stories of the day.

  1. Does Dave Helling of The KC Star Editorial Board actually believe that he represents the truth?

His first 5 paragraphs serve as bait, luring the reader to empathize with the hook which Helling is about to snap into their jaw. I'm reminded of the woman who habitually introduces herself as a "single mother" to quickly clarify that she's a victim deserving of sympathy.

With Helling singling out Sinclair for his admonition ("Which is why Sinclair shouldn’t do it.") I was chuckling to myself as he's following a long pattern of demonizing only those who don't have a presence in the KC metro. Yes, it's perfectly fine to pick on the rural rubes, and besides, Helling can't bear to ruffle any feathers amongst the Democrat flock permeating KC and Jackson County.

Next up, immediately following a recognition of the importance of our First Amendment, Helling tosses out this gem ("William Randolph Hearst told his newspaper editors what to say and do, and the republic survived.") as if overt political propaganda was acceptable professional behavior for a journalist! If this is what Helling actually believes in, it finally answers my questions as to his work product.

Now let's further explore Mr. Helling's own politically liberal bias which clumsily reveals itself in his writing. Remember how he described the station manager as against big government/big taxes and in favor of self-reliance, only to then belittle the man? Why did Helling do that? Well, he's using propaganda trickery in an attempt to shape your opinion, much like a shaming commercial to promote a deodorant or toothpaste.

    A few more examples:
Ingraham, a Fox News host, is a NASTY tweeter.
    Conservatives HOWLED.
Ingraham and her cohorts are not in the news business, but are CARNIVAL-BARKERS.
All reporters represent trust, gather news aggressively and impartially, and they all understand this.

And finally, if you agree with the following statement, you are not a smart American! (“Some members of the media use their platforms to push their own personal bias and agenda to control exactly what people think. This is extremely dangerous to our democracy.”)

I DO BELIEVE THAT DAVE HELLING OF THE KC STAR EDITORIAL BOARD JUST CONFIRMED FOR THE RECORD THAT HE IS "FAKE NEWS"!!
    Surprised?

  4. That editorial is embarrassing. The Star should be ashamed to have printed it.
