An important consideration of even more local housing unavailable to most locals who can't or won't pay $1300-a-month for a glorified studio apartment with a mildly entertaining view.
Description:
"If working two full-time jobs isn’t enough to make rent in the city, Kimberly Lawson wants to know what is enough. This video, part of a larger project from Kansas City PBS and Flatland looking at gentrification, affordable housing, and evictions in the Kansas City metro, delves into whether the downtown boom is driving out the people who work there."
Take a look:
You decide . . .
It worked really well in New York City. Look how low crime is now compared to when black people could afford to live there. They are even getting ran our of Harlem.
ReplyDelete^^^ Cleans out the white meth addicts too. They drive down property rates worse than anyone because they don't realize how destructive they are.
ReplyDeleteBut why is the downtown library still full of white homeless?
Because they can read
DeleteYou poor scum aren’t supposed to be living downtown, just because you can’t afford it doesn’t give you a reason to bitch about it, this is sLIE and companies business and if you can’t afford it your not supposed to be there, get lost and don’t come back! Lmao!
ReplyDelete4:50 because the violent homeless black crack heads aren’t allowed?
ReplyDeleteIf you can’t afford to live downtown maybe you should improve yourself and get a better paying job but by the time you do that downtown will be vacant again
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of queers and faggot hipsters downtown. It would be a lot nicer if they weren't around.
ReplyDeleteThe creative class rule KC, please just stay out in the suburbs please.
ReplyDeleteIf only white people weren’t such fucking racist bitch ass stinky idiots. Fucking fags. I say keep dicking down all of their women.
ReplyDelete6:13 what in the hell is your drunk ass saying?
ReplyDeleteI think the plight of the girl in the video was being exaggerated a bit. You can’t throw a rock in midtown without hitting a “for lease” sign. Granted, they’re not “luxury” places, but they’re a roof over the head and much more affordable than downtown.
ReplyDeleteQuinton is concerned about the working poor. He’s a false friend and an absolute hypocrite. He can’t look the camera in the eye. He’s voted to expand the streetcar, add on debt for power & light and jam water rates up the sphincter of his constituents.
ReplyDeleteHe’s one of the problems.
No way. If we don’t build affordable housing poor people will move into the suburbs? Why didn’t we think of that later. Let them go, take your violence and economic drain with you.
ReplyDeleteActually, Quinton is doing a GREAT job and he's the only council member who really seems to understand the issue.
ReplyDeleteNice to see your doing well Mrs. Lucas.
DeleteLegalize tiny home neighborhoods in Harlem east of the old airport, and the dead sections of Fairfax and the north east.

ReplyDelete6:13 are you going to riot tonight? I don't stink , I can't be a fag, and I would never do a black man!
The single largest employer in downtown KCMO is one level of government or another, and most of those folks probably can't afford the inflated rents.
ReplyDeleteThen you have the lower level employees of the banks and law offices, who can't pay the freight either.
And then, of course, are all the service employees who work as baristas, servers, hotel staff, and all the rest, and they certainly can't live in any of the taxpayer-subsidized "Lights".
The great majority of executives and other more highly-compensated employees who work downtown are mart enough not to live anywhere in KCMO at all.
Where else are jobs downtown when office buildings are being converted to apartments?
A taxpayer-subsidized amusement park.
The best paying jobs are in Johnson County and the holders of those jobs live in Leawood. Where do the Star’s development drones live? Kansas. Why? Because their wives would never put up with crap services we put up with and they would never Weber send their kids to a Kansas City MO public school.
DeleteThere are no companies coming here none. The place is a Potemkin village.
The condos are great. If you live there, you have won at life.
ReplyDeleteSorry plebs.
YOU LOSE!
^^^ We're creating jobs. Sorry you hate progress but the world keeps turning!
ReplyDelete@9:25 pm It wasn't me. But I am doing well, thank you for caring. Oh, Quinton is pretty damn fantastic!
