KANSAS CITY GO BOND REALITY CHECK: CITY HALL LIED ABOUT FIXING POTHOLES!!!

Last year were promised a litany of repairs and improvements if they only voted in favor of nearly ONE BILLION DOLLARS worth of borrowing.

The campaign offered trite sentiments about "momentum" and was mostly unquestioned by local media . . .

In the immediate aftermath of what many people say was yet another rigged local vote, there was some activity that didn't inspire much confidence:

Painted over potholes were a favorite among this blog community.

Now take a look at this ordinance that redefine tire killing road danger . . .

Resolution #180302: Directing the City Manager to revise the Pavement Condition Index of the roadway system to establish the City’s intent to retain a condition level at an overall value of not less than “40” for its roadway system and to continue evaluating and rating all segments of pavement over a three-year period in order to comply with the accounting standards established by the Governmental Accounting Standards Board and utilized in the City’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report.

Translation . . . Expect even more Kansas City potholes this Spring.

Meanwhile, this one is important to keep on file given the big promises of City Hall that are almost NEVER fulfilled.

  1. The biggest lie of the Go bond election is that they kept the repairs to buck o neil bridge a secret so they could go back and ask for more sales taxes.

  2. "I will require that Kansas City residents fill potholes on their own streets. People are always calling in and complaining about potholes. Well, let them discover just what a hassle it is to fill those potholes. The city will provide them with sources for asphalt and assess penalties for noncompliance. This will stop people complaining about potholes and free up funds for the things that really matter, like luxury apartment buildings and fixed rail good weather only transit, which is where our priorities should be focused. Potholes, schmotholes. We’re big picture people, people."

This was SUPPOSED to be facetious, but it looks like that's where we're headed folks.

  5. This mayor needs to go. We need to come up with a petition for a lot of people to sign, and if that fails we need to have the feds remove him forcefully.

  10. Lowering standards further? Jesus H. Christ, Kansas City ALREADY has the worst roads this side of Bangladesh. Let 'em get any worse and you will have to walk everywhere. Your town is a fucking slum, folks.

  12. I will never vote for another KCMo Bond issue until City hall gives my neighborhood side walks and other city amenities that have been promised since 1950 when my block was annexed

  13. City Hall lied, eh? You mean Troy Schulte, the city manager lied. His conduct on a variety of projects is felonious. Time will catch up with him and THIS council will have that lack of oversight on their hands.

    ReplyDelete
  14. sLIE is also felonious

  15. Pot holes will provide Parks and Recreation more places to plant flowers which will beautify the neighborhoods.

  16. You mean to say that our elected politicians LIED to us??? The shame of it all. Slie James does nothing but lie. Troy is worthless and the city council is pathetic. I get more out of my "at large" councilman than out of the other. But that's District 5. Pretty sure the other districts are about the same way.

Did we really think that potholes would be repaired? By the city workers? That's a laugh. Did we think the city would do the right thing by it's citizens? When have they EVER done the right thing? Lets go ahead and have the Toy Train run (good weather only) clear to the Plaza. Just another fine example of a huge waste of taxpayer money.

No wonder folks rarely turn out in force for a city election, the ones that stay home know the politicians are just a bunch of phones liars and criminals.
