A lesson in local education trouble from the South Kansas City Advocates as they call out their board by name:
"Shawn Kirkwood ran as an incumbent in 2016 and was rejected by the electorate. If he had the drive to continue on the board, he could have run in either the 2017 or 2018 election; rather, he chose the easier (and more sure?) route of appointment.
"Not only did the board appoint someone rejected by the community; but in doing so, they rejected two other highly qualified candidates."

ReplyDeleteI think he works for the post office, but it doesn't matter. The real issue seems to be that there were other more qualified candidates but the board didn't go in with the ones who might actually help the district show some improvement. Instead they went with a retread that had been rejected by the community. Was this politics or does this board really not know what it's doing?
ReplyDeleteApparently diversity is only wrong when whites are in the majority. This board could have chosen a perfectly capable white candidate but instead decided to make it an entirely Black board.
ReplyDeleteHickman Mills Board is such a mess - all they do is represent the administration as opposed to representing the community. This group of people are totally clueless as to what is really going on in the community, with families and with the students. The last person they want to hear from is a tax paying, long time resident of the district - unless it's a family with kids. What a waste! Good job John Sharp and Freedom Inc. you have helped to create this mess.
