TKC SUNDAY SPECIAL!!! KANSAS CITY COFFEE KINGPIN DANNY O'NEILL SUFFERS SOCIAL MEDIA SMACKDOWN AFTER BADMOUTHING FAIRWAY POLICE FOLLOWING TICKET FOR EXPIRED TAGS!!!

In the aftermath of metro-wide mourning following the tragic death of a Missouri police officer killed in the line of duty, a Kansas City power player took to the Internets to denigrate police following a routine traffic stop.

To wit and with SPECIAL THANKS to readers who tipped us to this story before any other local media outlet . . .

ROASTERIE HONCHO DANNY O'NEIL RECENTLY POSTED SCATHING ATTACKS AGAINST LAW ENFORCEMENT FOLLOWING HIS TICKET FOR ADMITTEDLY EXPIRED TAGS!!!

Take a look . . .

In a post on Instagram, O'Neill wrote (emojis removed):

"Citizens of Fairway!!! Know that you are safe...even safer today after this violation. Officer Barney Fife dutifully chased us through traffic...it was a pretty, sunny day; we saw him weaving in and out of traffic, lights blazing, and were wondering what criminals they were after. Well, surprise of all surprises...Barney was chasing US! Lights and guns a-blazing...we had an expired tag! Who knew? But wowza was he prepared! $133! At several dinner parties over the years the Fairway police have come up...similar circumstances...Cat in tree, expired plates, license plate light out...and of course total laughter at the overreaction of the Barnie’s. We have a lot of friends in Fairway and just want to let each of you know, you are safer as a result of forcing this Brookside deadbeat in to get an updated tag. I was crazy...I should have been locked up and the key thrown away! Not sure he could have towed the Tesla but ka-ching...I’ll bet he would have figured it out$! "

For those who are too young to remember, Barney Fife is a fictional character in the American television program The Andy Griffith Show, portrayed by comic actor Don Knotts. Fife was often the butt of many jokes and is pejoratively used as a derogatory reference to some members of law enforcement.

Here's the screencap of Mr. O'Neil's remarks . . .

Immediate response . . .

After Blue Lives Matter contacted a Roasterie spokesperson about O'Neill's post, he deleted the post from social media.

O'Neill now says that he has accepted responsibility for his violation and expressed his regret for making the post.

However . . .

The response from law enforcement and #BlueLivesMatter advocates ACROSS THE NATION has been EXCEPTIONALLY NEGATIVE AND UNFORGIVING . . .

A few examples from his recent post showing him hugging on police. . .

"Entitled and ridiculous is what you are. We will never spend our money in your establishment. Since when don’t rich douche bags have to abide by the law... maybe you should have the balls to do a ride a long???"

"Screw your company and you. Police bashing POS. Take responsibility for your shit. 3 months expired plates and you wanna run off and start calling an officer names and bashing others as well. Nice attempt at a shitty insincere apology."

"Congrats on losing thousands of customers for your police bashing you entitled little cry baby. Will never spend another cent on a Roasterie product again!"

Clearly, this is a horrific mistake for such a widely renowned advocate of Kansas City local biz and tech.

Even worse, this controversy puts him at a disadvantage now that a Starbucks is soon to move across the street from the signature Roasterie location in Brookside.

Accordingly . . .

Remember not so long ago TKC warned that the Roasterie was kind of jerky for blighting KCMO Westside residents with a stupid plane and shining bright lights directly on working-class houses in a really inconsiderate move that would evoke outrage in any other neighborhood . . . Fact of life: If somebody is willing to trash neighbors in such a manner . . . That kind of arrogance rarely offers police the respect they deserve.

But it's Sunday so we're not holding a grudge . . .

TKC SUGGESTS THAT MR. O'NEILL WRITE A REAL APOLOGY TO POLICE FOR HIS SOCIAL MEDIA HATERATION!!! THE MOVE WOULD REQUIRE THE COFFEE DUDE TO SWALLOW SOME PRIDE WHICH IS EXACTLY WHAT THE SITUATION DEMANDS!!!

So far his superficial effort to spin and deflect from the controversy has obviously FAILED and a real act of contrition might be what the situation demands if the Kansas City power player is serious about making amends to police.

You decide . . .

  1. What a stupid mistake for the guy.

And what kind of jerk do you have to be to name drop your tesla when you're insulting a cop who doesn't make that kind of money your car costs for a whole year of work.

I'm not sure a real apology would work from that guy. you know it would just be written by one of his pr guys. Not a smart business decision at all considering that he's one of the biggest boosters for KC entrepreneurs.

  2. I always thought you were full of shit Tony when you complained about the lights shining on houses down there. Then, I went down there at night and sure as hell you're right.

    ReplyDelete
  3. You think a guy with so much property would pay the fine and be done with it?

    ReplyDelete
  4. Another person who thinks they are entitled is not accepting responsibility for their actions as well as their non actions, keeping car tags up to date.

As a side note Folgers is better coffee.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Give him a break. His wife had an affair with a cop a while back, you know.

    ReplyDelete
  6. He’s right about the Barney fife cops, but also wrong for blabbing, be a man and pay your fine and move on.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I just got a ticket in Prairie Village 6 months ago for expired tags. I had no idea they expired, my fault totally. The cop was apologetic and said he hoped I would have a nice day. I told him it was my fault, and for HIM to have nice day.

    The truth is the truth.

    It actually used to count.

If it is your fault, it is your fault.

    Pay the fuckin ticket.

  8. O’Neill definitely has the “Most Pompous Asshole of the Year” award wrapped up. And to mention that he was driving a Tesla is just the icing on the cake. As my grandmother used to say, “He should have bought some polish with his money.”

  11. On the west coast coffee establishments involve themselves with politics and cop bashing all of the time. Those establishments have built in clients who support their mentality.

The Roasterie is different. They belong in Kansas City and our values are much different. If his shop was a little neighborhood shop in the Crossroads it wouldn’t matter, but it’s not. It has grown to a substantial employer that depends on a broad client base.

The only way for people like this to be educated is through their checkbooks. The Chiefs basically gave away Marcus Peters to get him out of the Midwest.

Tomorrow people from all over the country will gather in Clinton to pay their respects to a police officer who made the ultimate sacrifice. Just 7 months after another Clinton officer was killed by a man stopped for a license violation.

In the future, ensure that your 130,000 Tesla is properly licensed. If not, the officer who is raising a family on 50,000 a year will be writing you a ticket. Not because he doesn’t like you, but because that is his job. He enforces the laws he has sworn an oath to enforce.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Tony, you're wrong about the Roasterie. First, the plane is cool and unique. Second, the Roasterie is creating jobs in that area and around KC. Finally, it has helped revitalize that area. I guess haters are gonna hate. Finally, blue lives do matter but that doesn't mean bored po po in small communities like Fairway have to weave in and out of traffic because someone has expired tags!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Had Danny let his plates expire?

I forgot to put my new stickers on my tag and got a ticket in Prairie Village. I went to court with proof that I had renewed, and the ticket was dismissed.

If I hadn't renewed, I'd EXPECT to pay the fine. You fuck up, you pay up.

My guess is some of his employees have some similar stories of the way he treats people at work. I say thank you to the men and women in blue. We all have to take the good with the bad...even the ones that drive a Tesla.

    1. Yes you’re right. He became a jerk after making money. He was a nobody before the help of a few who gave him a break. A former real estate owner cut him a good deal on rent on the Westside, where he outgrew the space and became demanding. Like a post before indicated... money doesn’t buy class.

  16. Who does this guy think he is, Craig Glazer? He whines just like he does when the policeman pulls him over. I say we ban the plane it has to come down.

  17. Why didn't he offer to give the cop a blowjob?
    It worked for me.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The guy is a jerk, obviously. Expired tags? What is he, some dumb welfare mom? Grow up, dude.

Still: the fact remains that all of the little towns in Johnson County are gold mines for the local cops. Handing out tickets is what they do. Crime solving? Crime fighting? Not so much. Their job is generating revenue for the city coffers. Even a lousy speeding ticket will cost you a lot of money in these shithole towns. And your insurance bill will skyrocket. Shithole towns. Shithole cops. Stay away and take your business somewhere else. That's what I do.

    ReplyDelete

    1. The city of Westwood is famous for giving out tickets for people that don’t come to a complete stop at a stop sign. If you stop for a half second, that isn’t a complete stop. This is the #1 way this city makes money. Pay double and they’ll keep the moving violation off your record to keep your insurance costs lower. All a scam by cities.

And it’s not the cops fault either. They have quotas to fill. But it is frustrating all around when you get a dumb ticket like this.

  19. Danny now has a giant PR problem, and needs to fall on his sword bigly. An act of humility far more memorable than just a sincere apology.

How about this: I liked the earlier suggestion of a ridealong. So Danny does a ridealong--in Fairway, and then, because his company is based in KCMO, a ridealong in KCMO as well. And then as contrition for his snotty disrespectful characterization of an officer just doing his job, Danny swaps cars with "Barney Fife in Fairway" for an entire WEEK--letting the Fairway officer take Danny's Tesla home every night for a week.

Danny's insurance is current, right?? I bet it will be, before the swap.

This might go a long way to rebuilding the Roasterie's reputation. Because Danny is no Howard Schultz, the respectful and generous and charming Executive Chairman of Starbucks.

    ---
PS to Chuck--charming rejoinder of your own this am!

  23. Had to laugh in some ways at seeing this story and one of the comments made. So Danny boy thinks he is a mover and shaker in this town and someone of great importance? Maybe him and the yuk yuk shack owner should get together and swap police pull over stories. Or better yet include a disgruntled ex Star writer who still can't accept their DUI and then all three can cry on one another shoulders for being humiliated simply because they feel their self entitlements make them about the law. Karma is the best thing going most days in putting these people in their place.

  42. 11:27 Law Enforcement is powerless against mob violence by blacks. There are legions of lawyers, with sympathetic juries waiting in the background to cripple ANY effort by the police to correct the pervasive, outrageously disproportionate criminality of blacks all over America, not just on the Plaza.

It's like the 9th Circuit Court all over America when it comes to pretending that Black violence and the necrotic dysfunction that accompanies it will be corrected. Not only will it NEVER be corrected, or, even mitigated (The Plaza is the Crown Jewel of the city of Kansas City, yet for 10 straight years, black mobs have disrupted and destroyed commerce, committed violent crimes (Remember the fuckin Mayor, diving into the bushes in front of the Cheesecake Factory as shots rang out by way of local "skolars"?), the violence will continue. The Ward Parkway Tax Base in conjunction with the Plaza Shopping Area comes in a distant second place to the politically correct agenda of Liberal - Progressive Democrats who need the Black Block Vote to maintain sinecure, power and the concomitant cash provided by same.

After the horror show in Ferguson, the Department of Justice, led by the Black Nationalist Eric Holder, investigated and declawed the Police Department there and all over America, with new regulations that put a target NOT on the black perps like that fuckin puke Michael Brown, but on cops. Any diversion from the Narrative of "Racism" in the police department meant a loss of funds and possible law suits for enforcing the Rule Of Law when it comes to Blacks.

The Media, Academe, your local politicians all, all stand ready to burn the Plaza to the ground before they would EVER enforce the law and use common sense to stop the destruction.

It is, as they say, black and white.
