TKC MUST SEE!!! SLEAZE SCUMITT POLITICOS DEMAND FULL DISCLOSURE FROM KANSAS CITY STAR PUNDITS!!!

Election season in Lee's Summit is once again creating hard feelings.

Here's are the essentials of the sitch . . .

This column about ethics created hard feelings among local suburbanites amid a power struggle . . .

Here's the reason behind the ruckus from a TKC TIPSTER. . .

"What does one call it when a Kansas City Star columnist covers a local election and never mentions in the article that his company is being paid by a political committee to run ads endorsing candidates in that same election? The column includes a photo of a yard sign for a candidate he is being paid to help!"

Here is a copy of the ad on FB . . .

Here's the MO Ethics Website receipt of payment for the advert . . .

And here's the "Doing Business As" connection betwixt the author of the piece and the FB ad buy according to TIPSTERS . . . Personal address info redacted

Now, at the risk of taking this suburban low rent election too seriously . . . The argument against the newspaper is correct . . .

Complaints over transparency regarding guest pundits and their affiliations is a growing problem for the newspaper and is confusing to readers. These strident advocates for journalistic integrity have clearly done their homework and it's clear that Dead-Tree media couldn't be bothered to include a simple line offering readers some clue about the perspective of an author.

You decide . . .

Comments

  1. They're asking the newspaper to be honest.

I wouldn't hold my breath on that.

    1. Lee's summit elections are heating up that's for sure. as for this mistake, it's par for the course and something that makes the columnists really angry at their own paper because it takes away their moral high ground in public. The only thing they can do is leave nasty comments on other social media posts.

      Sad.

  2. Remember it's the Star that has people like Hoopz and Mary and you want to talk about ethics?

  3. If even a little more than a handful of people still subscribed to and read the Star, this might be an issue.
    They don't.
    It's not.

  4. I am a completely unbaised, objective reporter.

  5. You mean to tell me The Star accepts bribes in cash, rather than taxpayer-funded buildings? Wow, think of the interest the City could have saved!

  6. The Star has always played to political insiders. Nothing will ever change as long as they can stay out of bankruptcy.

  7. they're on a glide path to not being relevant.

  8. You mean to tell me that people read the star? You must be over 60 if you do. Only geezers read, or care about newspapers. The people who move the country do not, and that's a fact. How do you know if time has passed you by? You still read the star. How do you know if you are utterly irrelevant in every way? You comment on a blog about the newspaper!

  9. And how do you tell you're an arrogant asswipe?
You never post anything but criticism of other's posts.

  10. So I gather you didn't see the column last week from her opponent.

    No?

    Guess not.

    Speaking of fair.

  11. @10:24AM-because you & "other people" suck and deserve the criticism. Don't like it? I suggest you get the fuck out of the country! This is a free speech zone, and if you spout ignorance chump, expect to get checked. How's that dummy? No go the fuck away. You bother me.

  12. How can the Kansas City Star criticize Trump and others fake news claim if they have writers on the payroll of political pacs and campaigns?

  13. Tipster = Chris Moreno.... That rake tooth fat ass is still bitching about everyone within 7 degrees of Kevin Bacon from $500 worth of plastic trophies? Here is a scoop for you... Beto Lopez, first minority elected to council that actually completes his term. Suck on that Chrissy.

  14. How many other Star columnists are on the take?

  15. I have never met a journalist paid by a political action committee. This is s-h-a-d-y

  16. Is this the same person doing work for Mike Sharp? Figures.

  17. Rumor is a grand jury has convened on those Lee’s Summit crooks. Is this person tied to them?

    ReplyDelete
  18. This is a new low for The Star

  19. This all stems back to Linda Ahern at the Journal, Chris Moreno,Dave Mosby, Rick Inglima, and the other idiots who were so mad they thought they had some influence or clout. Unions supporting Moreno and him getting his ass kicked was a black eye to them and a reminder of their irrelevance in Lee's Summit. When the same people keep losing, that makes them LOSERS.

    1. So a political action committee pays a guy to advertise for them, and he's a writer for the star? Nobody on the ballot is paying him so that part of this "column" is fake news. What's left here is we have a snaggle tooth political hack moreno trying to play matador, but he's too fat to get out of the way. Moreno and Mosby probably lost that lawsuit so he's trying to divert attention.
