  1. Hmm, I really don't want to comment on the obammacare thing. But, here's the breakdown. With obammacare, you pay $600 - $1000 per month, for a plan with an minimum out-of-pocket of $20,000 per year. AFTER that deductible has been met the rate is 60/40 or even 50/50. With obammacare you also forego ANY ability to negotiate directly with the service provider. They simply bill your insurance at their enormously inflated fees, and then obammacare bills you, and as it is a Federal mandate, it is NOT discharge-able in bankruptcy and the fed has the ability to lien or garnish to recover unpaid bills. So, on a $300,000 med bill, a broke-ass mf'er could probably negotiate down to $100,000 or less, and get that on a payment plan. The obammacare participant will pay $20k upfront, and $112k on the 60/40 split. All the while continuing their monthly payments of $600 - $1000. Untenable for almost anyone working paycheck to paycheck. There needs to be MASSIVE reform to the medical-industrial complex scam, but obammacare wasn't it. At this point, I would nearly support single payer, if and only if, insurance companies had NO hand in it. This would permit three markets to emerge: the single payer users who would get treatment in concrete block plain-ass buildings; the wealthy private payer insurance system would remain for those hoity-toity who wouldn't be caught dead in a gov hospital for the hoi-poloi; and the small-timers who don't want to go to the gov system, don't have wealth for hoity-toity system, and just want simple treatment from a local DR who doesn't participate in either system. And yes, there are Dr's who do that. Nothing more than small biz owner's who don't have the overhead to process the insurance/gov/scam jungle.
