TKC MUST READ!!! KANSAS CITY STAR SCRIBE HOOPZ COMMANDS: LAUGHTER NOT ALLOWED AMID APPLEBEE'S RACIAL PROFILING HOT MESS SHUTDOWN!!!
In a literally humorless column, Kansas City Star scribe Jeneé Osterheldt demands solemnity on the topic of discount appetizers.
Here's the damage for those who haven't seen it already:
Don’t dare scoff: The cries we hear in Applebee’s video come from a legacy of pain
She was slow to the story and the round-up deets she offers were quickly out of date but her swagger and sense of self-righteous indignation made for a captivating read.
Her triumphant tweet on the topic reiterates the seriousness of the crisis and attempts to shame a police officer who seemed like he was desperate to find some common ground and break the tension:
And so . . .
POINT BY POINT - OUR BLOG COMMUNITY CHALLENGES THE SILLY ASSERTIONS BY HOOPZ WITH SNARKY RETORTS!!!
Your replies were funnier, but here's what we've served up so far:
Hoopz: "So many of us, knows sometimes video footage is your only protector. And even then, it doesn’t guarantee justice. We all saw Eric Garner’s life choked from his body. We saw Tamir Rice shot to death on sight. Their killers are free."
Did she really just compare a disappointing ladies night out at Applebee's to getting killed by police??? Somewhere an exec at Skittles is breathing a sigh of relief.
Hoopz: "Being treated like a criminal when you’re innocent is an inconsolable moment. Knowing you can do the right thing but your skin will be used as a weapon against you is a hard reality to accept."
A valid point in service of the right to eat horrible food. However, this wasn't Woolworth's Lunch Counter circa 1960, it was a shopping mall dump wherein passing on bad service and middling fare is always the right decision for EVERY demographic.
Hoopz: "When you think about the state of the world, Asia wasn’t overly emotional. The last time I got pulled over, my friend Mal called me to stay on speakerphone and ensure my safety. The fear, like racism, is real."
Co-dependency aside . . . Yes, she was overly emotional. Most of her supporters even admit as much. To hold a 7-minute crying jag up as a "reasonable" response is a disservice to common sense and far too much patience to demand from even the most progressive society.
Word from a better feminist - Frida Kahlo- "They say never trust a limping dog or the tears of a woman."
Hoopz: "Where is the department’s apology? Will the officer be reprimanded? What will be done about this culture of insensitivity?"
Clearly, Hoopz has never delved deep into Meth Town. In her column she talks about her harsh times while enjoying a 5-star restaurant with friends. As far as Eastern Jack po-po goes, the officer in question was practically a saint. People get tossed into squad cars for far less. Given the text of her column it's clear that Hoopz lives in an imaginary world and her screed actually speaks to her quasi-celeb privilege.
Hoopz: "I cry with Asia. I speak truth to power with Alexis. Black lives matter."
Invoking a controversial movement in service of a dispute regarding the world's most mediocre food is a bit much and certainly a sign that this social justice warrior has lost every bit of perspective and her attacks are nothing less than regurgitated talking points served up on demand for corporate media.
And so . . .
THE PUNCHLINE IS THAT CAPITALISM GETS THE LAST LAUGH AS RACIAL HATERATION AND LACKLUSTER FARE HAVE SEEN THEIR LAST DAYS AT THIS METH TOWN MALL LOCATION THAT'S SOON TO BECOME YET ANOTHER LOCAL GHOST TOWN!!!
