TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! SOMETIMES THEY COME BACK: LAW MAN REHIRED AFTER JACKSON COUNTY JAIL FAIL!!!

Here's an important tidbit that deserves mention given the dearth of local government accountability in the midst of what many call a human rights crisis.

According to AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS and confirmed via a listing of JaxCo Parks & Rec employees . . .

"Joe Piccinini is now the Superintendent of Park Safety, which means he is in charge of the Park Rangers."

Remember that he resigned in the midst of the JACKSON COUNTY JAIL CRISIS that included a litany of issues from inmate beat downs, allegations of impropriety against some guards and insecure cell block locks etc. . .

Exec Frank White shared some nice words for him as he stepped down but local but other locals were far more pointed in their criticism as he called it quits.

And so, given that local property tax bills are funding this decision and because of a controversial record at the jail . . . Is this the right decision for JaxCo?

At the very least, it's important for public discussion . . .

You decide . . .

  1. Hey, the county believes in recycling. Good for them.

  2. Yeah it's the right decision.

    Any other stupid questions?

  3. I'm not talking about whether the position is really needed, or how much the position is paid, but let there be no doubt that Piccinini is a top-notch quality guy.

He made a career with the Lee's Summit Police Department, slowly moving all the way from entry-level officer to Chief of Police his last few years before retiring.

If the position is going to be filled and held by someone, then Piccinini is the guy to do it.

  5. jail was not his fault, lot of other bad stuff there before him.

  6. @ 8:13... I can fault him for taking a job he wasn't qualified for, just like his boss Frank White. Being a suburban police chief didn't remotely prepare him to run a large county jail, no more than playing baseball prepared Frank to be county exec.

    1. He applied for the job and got it. He proactively worked to fix the problems including bringing in the FBI.

  9. 8:48 is right. Is he qualified to supervise some park rangers though? Probably, but he failed the Jackson County taxpayers once. Now he needs to be off the county payroll and not given a cushy retirement gig.

  10. So much for safety for the parks. Can only hope that there is not much threat and he can't do any more damage.

  11. Pretty sure park rangers are qualified deputies also.

  12. Clay County Rangers have night vision, armor vests, shotguns, AR-15s etc and like to play SWAT at Smithville Lake. You've been warned....

^^^ Can do all of that with Cabela's North American Adventure for Xbox 360 and never have to hassle with some cop trying to kill me for not turning on my blinker.

Good luck with the lake, it's mostly poisoned and toxic anyway.
