TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY SERVICE INDUSTRY CELEBRATES LAST DAYS OF 'LIQUOR CARD' THANKS TO 'BAN THE BOX' LEGISLATION!!!

One of the most widely disputed regulations of the local bar & restaurant scene is soon to become part of Kansas City history.

To wit . . .

LOCAL SERVICE INDUSTRY REPS ARE WORKING WITH COUNCIL TO ABOLISH THE CONTROVERSIAL KANSAS CITY 'LIQUOR CARD' NOW THAT 'BAN THE BOX' MAKES IT OBSOLETE!!!

This decision will impact more than 40K Kansas City, MO workers who must pay a de facto employment tax just to serve drinks.

Now that the "felony question" is illegal according to a local ordinance . . . Restaurant association advocates were quick to lobby against the long derided requirement.

Currently, the cost of the KCMO "liquor card" is $42 and it serves no other function but to verify if a service industry worker has committed a felony. Initially, "ban the box" EXCLUDED liquor control rules & regs but behind the scenes the distinction is being chipped away and might not only be indefensible but also put the whole ordinance up for legal review if challenged.

Critics of the legislation argue that it's an outdated rule and a legacy of the aftermath of prohibition.

And this isn't just a story on background . . . Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association dude Jason Pryor is one of many vocal critics against the liquor cards and he will be taking the lead in making the upcoming announcement about an end of an era .

And so, social justice warriors and the local restaurant biz seem to have discovered just a bit of common ground as helping to find former felons decent Kansas City jobs takes precedence over liquor control.

  1. It's about damn time, we need more felons working the bar industry. It'll make bartender stories that much better.

  2. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, but maybe the kind of felony should be looked at. Do we really want violent offenders serving booze. What about people who were convicted of giving out date rape drugs? Should they get behind the bar? We're really putting a lot of faith in bar owners to do the right thing. These are the same people who serve rotten food on "special" and cut all kinds of corners when it comes to making a profit.

  4. One thing has nothing to do with the other. Terrible idea. So now can security guards in KCMO get a license if they have a felony?

  5. Even though ban the box is a city ordinance you can still ask if someone is a felon and do a background check on them that's perfectly legal, you just can't have that question on your application. So don't worry, if an employer is smart enough they will do that.

    1. I hope you’re right. Doesn’t this “ban the box” also cover rental housing applications? I think it’s pretty thoughtless to force law-abiding people to live among major criminals.

  6. All the more reason not to live work or shop in Kansas City Missouri and certainly not eat or drink there.

  7. ^^^and yet, here you are! Fucking phony.

  8. Following the KC boon logic we can totally eliminate the idea of keeping felons off the police department. After all, they paid there debt and should not be held back.

  9. ^^"they paid there debt" Jesus Christ, here you are talking about "KC boon logic" and you don't even know the English language. So much for the myth of white supremacy. You dumb mother fucker.

  10. Tamba Hali had his car stolen in Westport last night. I’m like, nigga wtf you doing hanging out in that shut hole anyway? Westport is full of fags and glory hole trannys to mention the violent crime homies that lurk in the shadows. On top of that? It stinks in Westport. Probably from all the antifa communists who don’t shower. You know...the kind of women who don’t shave their legs or armpits.

  15. This is a BAD idea. First the bar owners get control of the streets and now they don't have to obey the rules. Not a good look for Kansas City to have pub dwellers making bad decisions for neighborhoods.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Keep the liquor cards, way too many felons already working in Westport.

  17. What a city. Felons get to go undercover and undetected thanks to your high integrity city government. So exactly why are they called felons?
