SHOCK!!! STRUGGLING APPLEBEE'S CONFRONTS SOCIAL MEDIA WRATH FOLLOWING VIRAL VIDEO INDEPENDENCE, MO RACIAL PROFILING DISPUTE!!!
Tough times for commerce near the failing Independence Center Mall just got worse as a viral video has inspired TENS OF THOUSANDS of people to angrily express their disdain for Applebee's.
A recent check of Applebee's Twitter @ replies reveals a steady torrent of hatred for the brand and their treatment of young women accused of dining and dashing.
We talked about it last night in some pretty good detail . . .
But now the controversial video is approaching TWO MILLION VIEWS and this seems to be the outset of a national story.
A few themes that need to be outlined . . .
If These Ladies Just Dined & Dashed . . . Why Would They Come Back???
That's the question that keeps coming up and nobody has a good answer for it that isn't insulting, knee-jerk or just angry. Fact it, petty thieves aren't serial killers and they rarely return to the scene of the crime to garner glory. It's pretty obvious that this was nothing more than a ladies night out and, most likely, some untold drama with a server who had problems with the table for whatever reason.
The Weeping Doesn't Go Over Well . . . Tears Are Wasted On Applebee's
These are grown women and while getting the boot from any low-rent establishment is embarrassing, it's not the end of the world. The drama factor is high on this confrontation and, again, the Independence, MO officer deserves high praise for attempting to keep things calm & classy . . . Or at least as classy as they can be at the Applebee's near the Meth Town Mall.
Racial Drama Is Bad For Biz . . . OR . . . Here's Another Reason Why The Mall Is Doomed Amid Retail Tough Times
It'll be interesting to see how Applebee's responds given so much outright hateration and very little defense of their actions from anybody but the worst kind of trolls.
To be fair, while this is open to legal debate and interpretation, generally in Missouri and so many other places throughout the Heartland businesses have the right to refuse service to anyone and they don't have to justify their decisions if there is no pattern of discrimination.
However, these ladies looked about 3/4ths finished with their dinner as they were asked to leave . . . So the Applebee's had already made the decision to serve these customers before they were abruptly asked to leave by way of a police officer, management and security guards.
All of this seems to indicate that there's a lot more to this tragic story of crying, chicken and social justice that has captivated local denizens of social media and tens of thousands across the nation.
