Amanda Knox, an American exchange student who was initially convicted of murder in Italy but eventually cleared, will be speaking this spring in Kansas City. She will be the keynote speaker at the Midwest Innocence Project's Faces of Innocence Gala. The gala will be held Thursday, April 26 at the Marriott Muehlebach, located at 1213 Wyandotte in Kansas City.

The Kansas City Police Department says a person of interest is in custody after a shooting Tuesday night. That incident happened around 9:45 p.m. in the 2800 block of East 7th Street. One person suffered serious injuries in that shooting. Officers took a person of interest in custody on the scene.

Seems as though something other than shooting him could have been done, but officer's reaction is heartbreaking. He'll carry that burden the rest of his life.
