HARLEY-DAVIDSON BRAND HURTING AFTER KANSAS CITY SHUT DOWN!!!

Great insight and reporting worth the price of a subscription or at least a freebie preview from the Biz Journal today as so many loyal customers where taken aback by the callous way the American company cast off local workers. Take a look:

Union: Harley-Davidson damages brand, workers with KC plant closing - Kansas City Business Journal

Union officials are meeting in Kansas City to talk about how to deal with Harley-Davidson Inc.'s plans to shut down its Kansas City plant, and they aren't happy with how the company has been handling the situation.

Comments

  1. They'll really damage it when they shutdown the Pennsylvania plant and move everything to Thailand. That will be the end of them too. Good riddance.

  2. The Trump brand is damaged too.

“With that being said, China, Japan, Mexico, Brazil, these countries are all taking our jobs. Like we’re a bunch of babies. That will stop. People will treat us fairly. If I become president. We are losing our jobs. We’re losing our base. We’re losing our manufacturing. All of that will stop.” — Donald J Trump, (apparently lying at a rally)

  3. Real Harley riders prefer bikes made in York, PA. They made mainly Sportsters here, which is a girl Harley.

  5. What exactly in a libs mind did Obama do to bolster manufacturing in the USA? Tick tock..........

  6. Uhhh, he got the economy back on track after Baby Bush wrecked it, and then expanded it for six straight years.

During that time, American Companies built stuff, and Americans bought that stuff.

    Shame you slept through it.

  7. Failure to adapt to changing market place demands caused their problems . The competition makes far superior products at a lower price , customers have choices and have determined the current situation . Pretty much simple , any questions ?

  8. VERY much AGREED with you above mentioned poster , add that the Harley Davidson is shit quality products , break down oftentimes and costs $$$$ alot to repair ! Also style is ancient ,, weighs as much as a small car , handels like crap and wrecks itself often !¡!!

  9. Come on geezers, defend your current president, the Papaya Papa Doc, and his worthless broken promises. Barry isn't president now. He also didn't promise jobs he couldn't deliver to old industries (although he saved the auto industry from bankruptcy).

“Any business that leaves our country for another country, fires its employees, builds a new factory or plant in the other country, and then thinks it will sell its product back into the U.S. without retribution or consequence, is WRONG!" DJT lying on twitter.

"Companies are not going to leave the United States anymore without consequences, not going to happen. It's not going to happen, I'll tell you right now," DJT lying at Carrier Plant in Indy.

You Greedy Old Perverts need to offer something more than grope and blame.

  11. As a many decades rider, 11:40 and 11:46 are spot on. Overpriced, overweight dinosaurs. "HD" stands for "hundred dollars". Every time something needs done, "That'll be a hundred dollars.". The poster above talking about a "girl's bike" should be careful not to let the chain holding his wallet get caught on his ape hangers. I'm an old man, but those in the younger generation who still wish to ride, instead of social media nerds spending all their time thumbing their cell phones, are choosing hi tech machinery which out performs Harley in every category (except sound maybe) at a better price. Harley surely saw the trend, yet did not take steps to react. Probably afraid to offend the "girl's bike" crowd. It may be too late for them.

  12. ^^nah, not even sound. The jap bikes, whether the high-rev fours, or twins, have great sound depending on the exhaust you choose. I had White Bros on my machine. Gave the engine a great note at cruising speed. Got pretty loud when opened up, could be talked over at idle. Harley's use a junk straight-pipe to funnel that fap, fap, fapping noise at full volume without note tuning or resonance chambers.

  13. The girls bike comment sums up the crappy attitude the everyday is leather Halloween Harley rider has. That is hurting the bikes future. They should take that muffler they rudely removed from their antique bike and stick it in there backward ass.

  14. I love it when HD riders...soon to be HD pushers claim that the exhaust noise is for their safety...I thought that was the horn was for. Then They sit at a stop light with their speakers blaring over the exhaust noise. Id be pulled over in a second if I had a straight pipe exhaust on my car.

  16. WOW! 9:06, 11:40 and 11:46 pretty much nailed it. Rather than adapt to the changing market HOG management and too many dealers chose to try and maintain the status quo. Considering the PREMIUM pricing the quality just isn't there. NOT WORTH THE MONEY, NOT EVEN CLOSE. The Motor Company tried Buell, but the dealers wouldn't support it. They finished!

  17. This is not a failing company or product. Sissy transboys here suddenly pretend to about bikes. The rascal is the only ride most of them will ever have.

HOG is a fortune 500 company worth over $8 billion. Harleys are an American icon popular worldwide. Stop deflecting.

HOG took Trump's GOP tax breaks to close factories and eliminate jobs. Trump is not protecting our manufacturing jobs. He's enabling companies to layoff workers.

  18. 1:43 is an incredibly DUMB fuck.
Trump has nothing to do with HD's misfortune.

That company is dying because nobody buys their shit anymore, plain and simple.

Trump can't make a 30 yr old choose a HD over another brand, and he never promised that he could or would, so eat shit, bark at the moon, and DIAF.

  19. When customers begin to feel they are being taken advantage of things turn south fast. Proprietary tools, antiquated designs, over priced parts and accessories are not the formula for success in a very competitive market. They needed a 4cyl crouch rocket 20 years ago, maybe too late.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Trump lies & fails and butthurt snowflakes like @5:28 can't take it.

HD is not dying. All companies should be so lucky to be financially worth a spot in S&P 500.

HD isn't failing. Trump and his job protection promises are.
