Check this legislation that basically wipes out any incentive for KCMO AirBnb with regulation that threatens to mandate high-priced bills, stringent zoning restrictions and arbitrary rules against operators trying to make a few extra bucks:

Proposed KC ordinance would require safety inspections for all rental homes

Some people at Kansas City Hall are advocating for an ordinance they hope will even the playing field between landlords and tenants. More than 200,000 people live in rental homes in Kansas City, Missouri and some live in conditions that they believe are unsafe or unhealthy.

  1. The city can't stop companies from buying run down inner city properties, letting them rot and then fail to pay taxes on them. Just what we need another ordinance that the city can't or won't enforce.

  5. Kansas City KS has had this same deal for years and it works the inspectors I have had to deal with are fair but firm they have codes to follow and do so. No big deal really unless you don't want to go along and get along with them. But I have no idea what that is since the group I work with just does the repairs which as a rule come back against the renter due to abuse of the property.

  6. Slie wants to increase the city payroll. The city is the only place that will hire the people so they can pay their rent.
