No matter how locals might feel about a 7-minute-crying-jag for social media vs. mediocre fare . . . Here's a look at the sitch overall for this local chain struggling in the metro . . .
SPECIAL THANKS TO THIS AWESOME TKC READER FOR OUTLINING FAST CASUAL FOODIE DECLINE IN KANSAS CITY!!!
Check the deets:
In late 2016, Applebee's locations in Watts Mill (103rd-StateLine) and the Mall of the Great Plains (Olathe) shuttered.
In May 2017, 3 locations were closed in the area: 8350 N. Church Road near Liberty, 13201 State Line Road in south Kansas City, and 701 S.E. Melody Lane in Lee’s Summit.
The company used the recent controversy at their Independence Center mall location to quickly close that one as well, after the mall went into foreclosure.
This leaves them with about 15 locations across the metro, as they struggle with other fast casual restaurants to retain market share.
Applebee's.......because America can't enough hamburgers!
