TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! ARCTIC WINTER CHILL CRISIS KILLS KANSAS CITY HOMELESS MAN AMID SHELTER OVERCROWDING!!!

There's an ongoing myth of "Kansas City nice" or cowtown kindness and there are certainly enough local nonprofit charities to employ a small army of social workers but the reality is that resources remain scarce for desperately needy local residents. Even worse, the number of people without access to adequate food and shelter continues rise beyond levels that local authorities are comfortable reporting. Translation: The metro homeless explosion continues and now it has become deadly amid bitter winter cold.

To wit . . .

CHECK THE LATEST REPORT OF A KANSAS CITY HOMELESS MAN WHO FROZE TO DEATH SEEKING SHELTER!!!

Confirmation of a trend our blog community warned against . . .

KCTV5: "A body was discovered inside a garage . . . The homeowner told police she sometimes let the victim stay in the garage, which is unheated."

And while politicos and partisans debate fair wages or "entitlements" while the social safety net disappears . . . Again, the reality is that the number of homeless people on Kansas City streets continues to surge and this town doesn't have the resources to cope with the dilemma.

  1. Very sad story but I think part of it reveals that people who are working poor have enough problems to deal with right now. They know that there is little support for them so they might be less inclined to give.

    1. Might not be true @6:43. Some of the most generous people I've ever known are also poor themselves.

    2. Really sad story. In these conditions, I think we need to focus on solutions and not blame. How do we save people from dying when an arctic front arises and the shelters are at capacity? That should be the real question!

  2. Don't forget that Kansas City has a health care tax focused on indigent residents but most of that is dedicated toward paying amazingly high salaries for administrators.

  5. Sly doesn't address anything except his bullhorn when he doesn't get his way. Sly is a divider, and has done a great job dividing the city, and working to line his pockets. Get some lines painted on Truman road Sly! Stop stealing from the tax payers and building useless condos. Build something useful and take care of the people in Kansas City.

  6. Yes Tony it was a bold and fearless prediction to opine that homeless people die in cold weather.

We hail you as a prophet.

  11. Kansas City hood rats need to step up their game. KCK and Independence are ahead of us. We need 200 murders in KC this year. Baltimore had 343 last year. Our hood rats killing each other combined with the incompetence of Jean Petersucker Baker should take us over 200.

  13. Lets line up the streetcars and open them up for the homeless to sleep in during these cold days. We might as well get something for our $200,000,000 investment; homes for the homeless!

  16. Such a shame. A waste of life. Wish our city would have taken this cold spell more seriously, there is very little political leadership in this front since a lot of our homeless advocates have passed away.
