TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY NEW AIRPORT CRASH & BURN: COUNCIL STILL HATES EDGEMOOR #BETTERKCI DEAL!!!

Behind the scenes, the City Council HATES working with Edgemoor on the new airport MOU and the deal is going down in flames.

Before any other news outlet in Kansas City, our blog community called out at a sketchy blank check deal worth millions in "OUT-OF-POCKET" expenses. Even after MSM caught up, Edgemoor is only trimming about $7-million off the tab as local politicos grow increasingly disgusted with the firm.

Here's the entertaining kicker . . .

EDGEMOOR EXPLOITING RACIAL IDENTITY POLITICS AND THE SILLY 35% MBE/WBE HIRING EMPTY PROMISE HAS BACKFIRED!!!

Here's just a bit of karma when suits start trying to justify their development game with social justice efforts . . .

Big biz promises about equality have inspired Council to try and hold them accountable for pie-in-the-sky statements. Subsequently, questions from council have only been answered with vague deets and empty chatter that so many locals have heard before . . . Edgemoor expected to win playing the game of racial politics and now it seems like the cynical strategy will be their undoing.

Fact is, with a BILLION bucks worth of biz to go around minority contractors and the politicos on their payroll are going to get their piece of the pie no matter who wins . . . The debate behind the scenes merely represents the lobbyist antics of a few locals who jumped aboard the wrong gravy train just a bit too early.

Taste more pain . . .

FACT IS: KANSAS CITY BIZ & UNIONS DON'T LIKE EDGEMOOR EITHER AND THEY WANT TO MOVE FORWARD!!!

A couple of exceptions . . .

As usual, union lady Bridgette doesn't know what she's doing and has been making far too many promises to Mayor Sly whilst neglecting the best interests of her bosses . . .

Speaking of the Mayor, both he and City Manager Troy are also far to eager to hop aboard any flight without an idea of a destination and/or cost.

And so . . .

THE SAD REALITY IS THAT KANSAS CITY VOTED FOR NOTHING BUT NEW AIRPORT DRAWINGS AND PROMISES AND WORKING OUT THE DEETS ISN'T GOING TO BE PRETTY!!!

Accordingly . . .

There's more bad news ahead for this company as Council grows increasingly annoyed with the smaller and much more finicky firm . . . And yes there will be lawsuits but that was always going to happen as navigating this hot mess proves increasingly difficult for Mayor Sly who didn't really have much of a flight plan and has now taken a backseat as Council has taken over the process.

  1. Or, we could just remodel the old airport at nearly half of the cost?

That plan doesn't look too bad now.

    1. Rejecting the initial MOU was the nail in their coffin. The were never going to recover from that.

    2. So let's get this straight. They get called out on a $30 million kickback so they think the problems is solved by discounting it to 23.2 million dollars? That alone should cost them the bid. The company just isn't ready for the big leagues and KC has made a mistake by doing business with them. Next up please.

  5. There are no competent colored businesses in this city. Not that that matters when stealing from taxpayers.

KC airport is going to bankrupt KCMO.

  7. Honestly I don't know how Sly isn't in more trouble on this one. He has really gone out on a limb for his cronies and I think part of this has to be some members of the council trying to cover for him. The way that he pushed his cronies is probably one of the most egregious actions KC has ever seen in its history. At least since Pendergast.

Why giveaway a 30 million dollar contract when you can offer 3 billion WITH kickbacks.

  8. KC had screwed up this airport beyond recognition. If they were smart they would START OVER with a plan instead of just a rigged bid.

  10. Why do we need a new airport anyway?? we have one that works, its old and stanky but so is Kansas City!!! No one comes here because KC is a attraction or even a destination! The only people flying in here is business people and the KC trash that flys out of here coming back to the shithole they left to get a break from. The business flyers if their company wasnt so cheap by putting their employees on commercial flights could spend a few extra bucks and utilize the downtown airport with private flights, but hey thats for the big wigs of the company to fly out of with all their arrogant glory. Fuck the airport, take the train, it might take more than a minuet to get to your destination, but the train is full of people who hate arrogant and spoiled people who want the new airport. I could give less than a shit if we get a new airport or not, Sly James is a just like any other mayor, his term is about up and he wants to leave a legacy or a mark. Instead of a legacy or a mark of a new airport he should have worked harder to leave a legacy with reducing homicides of all his porch monkey bros who kill each other almost every day!

  11. Meetings, delays, voting, restarting, summit, study, these are moves just like in a shell game. Loose everyone and no one can keep track of the money. The Kansas City Powerjazz Airport.

  12. We have one of the best airports now. Lets spend 1 billion+ on something nice. Like roads, bridges and a riverfront that isn't a campground for shitheads that need .50 to get to Des Moines. Im talking about you on Broadway. I offered the guy a ride, food, beer many times.

Chances for an agreement between the city and airport developer Edgemoor improved Thursday when a City Council committee voted to approve a revised version of the pact, setting the stage for final action next week.

Also increasing prospects for a deal were statements by two council members previously opposed to the initial working agreement, known as a memorandum of understanding. Councilman Dan Fowler and Councilwoman Alissia Canady appeared to give the agreement the seven votes it would need to pass the full council.

Yeah, going down in flames, all right!
