TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! INSIDERS: JACKSON COUNTY EXEC FRANK WHITE OFFICE DIVERTING FUNDS TO KEEP STAFFERS SPARKS QUESTIONS FROM LEGISLATURE!!!

Jackson County Executive Frank White recommends an inspection of courthouse finances from the Missouri Auditor but the budget maneuvers of his own office are now meeting with scrutiny.

Background for those keeping score . . .

The Legislature has targeted funds for Chief Of Staff Caleb Clifford's pricey Chevy Colorado.

The Legislature has eliminated funding for key member's of Exec Frank White's staff in a move that evoked a written screed from the baseball legend who raged against alleged "spiteful and irresponsible" actions by his colleagues.

And now . . .

THE TOPIC OF TRANSPARENCY CONFRONTS EXEC WHITE'S OFFICE AS TEAM FRANK STRUGGLES TO FIND CASH!!!

Just a bit of explanation from one of many Courthouse Insiders taking on this issue:

"Of course there are elements of the budget where the Executive has discretion but here's how it should work: The Executive writes an ordinance to move funding, that ordinance is discussed among the Legislature and voted on IN PUBLIC. Former Executive Mike Sanders did this throughout his tenure and it's common practice. During this battle at the Courthouse, voters simply aren't getting the appropriate information about how their money is being spent and that is a slippery slope which usually leads to trouble for lawmakers."

Reality . . . The Executive's office has been forced to search for funding from a myriad of sources after losing this latest budget battle and so his attempts to claim the higher ground on Courthouse finances might also confront questions about the priorities and tactics of his office.

And all of this reveals that there is no end in sight to gridlock and a growing war of words as a Jackson County political fight will inevitably move toward a courtroom battle.

  1. Higher ground for Frank?

Nope, not after he got his son that job.

Not after all of the hiring fiasco.

The fact is that he's going to have a harder time reminding people about his time playing baseball now that he's mostly famous for the jail controversy and as the center of budget debates.

    1. The car looks the worst for "team frank" that makes an easy campaign commercial. People who vote want a free car and Frank making that happen for one of his employees will be unforgivable for a lot of the people who would have just voted for him because they like his style.

    2. So he only wins by 10 points next election.

This is all well and good, but in order to get a guy out of office you need a better candidate for people to vote for. Who is that going to be? THAT is the $150,000 question. Without a contender, the complaints won't go anywhere. That's why they need Scott Taylor in a bad way. Or maybe another of Chiefs player.

  2. If we go with a former Chiefs player Bill Maas gets my vote!

  3. 10:25, the Hispanic voters will say "no Maas."

  5. At least he didn’t get a $88,000 suv with two KCPD officers as “body guards and personal chauffeur’s that cost the city over $150,000 a year in payroll. Yes sLIE, I’m talking about your fat ass

    1. Love him or hate him, Funkhouser earned some major points for driving himself in a Honda Civic. sLIE is very typical of the black race; always having to be flashy and ostentatious even though it’s just a facade.

    2. It isn’t that flashy. It only has 22” rims and it doesn’t even have a gold toof

  6. Frank White has no idea how government works and has turn over day to day operations to shifty Caleb who is in fact running the County, Frank has already taken money for his personal use from McClain who is a contract employee of the County ,he is spending thousands of dollars with no oversight and his man Caleb is running up his own bonus money. He is an indictment waiting to happen.

  7. Meanwhile, somewhere another broke millennial, stuck in the gig economy - where wage stagnation has drowned out any hopes for a better life, is selling her virginity online to the highest bidder.

  8. Frank you cannot take money from COMBAT and pay your staff. Nor can you pay your staff expenses with COMBAT money! You better not hope for an audit you will lose.

  9. What's really sad about all this is that it's not all that different than how both Jackson County and KCMO government regularly operate and have for years.
The taxpayers simply deposit hundreds of millions into these government accounts, after which the electeds dollop out the dollars to insiders, friends, special interests, and even family.
The actual responsibilities of local government that residents and businesses depend on are not even of interest to these folks, much less priorities.
Just witness the infrastructure and utility needs in KCMO and the jail and assessment operations in JaCo.
    Only the names change.

  10. If Frank took cash from COMBAT to pay salaries. He's finished.

  11. Yuck, Jackson County.

  12. Better title: Frank's Bank Busted!

  13. 3:21 ^^^ If Frank started just moving money around in the budget without legislative approval, he ought to be toast. Last I checked the whole point of a legislative branch is to control the purse strings and stop the executive from playing fast and loose with the people's money.

This guy has some serious explaining to do. Why is it so urgent that Frank keep Caleb Clifford and his other minions around? Probably because he is incapable of doing the job himself.

Who "gave" him the money to save his house? How much does Frank owe this person and how is he paying them back?

Whose arm did Frank twist to get his home's property value lowered so he could lower his property tax bill?

Why did Frank give Mike Sanders $60,000 as a consultant after Mike made Frank his successor as county exec?

Sorry there's just no way Frank can claim to be reforming Jackson County when it is pretty apparent he took the job to improve his own personal finances. He is traveling the low rode like just any other corrupt politician.

  14. Frank White is just a con man. He campaigned on serving the community, when the simple truth is he desparately needed the money. He has no credibility.

  15. Caleb looks hot. Is he married?

  16. Clearly, the term "reform" is useless bullshit.
