SATURDAY NIGHT PLAYLIST!!! TKC READER: DEMISE OF MIKE SANDERS REVEALS CODE OF SILENCE DOMINATES KANSAS CITY!!!
Tonight, we give the last word of the day to a local reader who make an interesting point on the topic of the Kansas City political discourse or lack thereof . . .
"This line from the Independence Examiner made a great many politicos breath a deep sigh of relief around the entire state, Jackson County, and even a few in DC: "Williford was described as having cooperated in the federal investigation; Sanders was not." If anyone thinks that a man who was the state party chair, head of the local party for a dozen years, 10 year DNC member, and co-chair of every Democratic presidential campaign since 2002 didn't have a few secrets to trade, then you are naïve. Personally, not sure I or many people could withstand that kind of pressure to save your skin (I'm looking at you General Flynn, et al). So here's an old-school tip of the cap to a guy who has done a rare thing, and is willing to do his time rather than tell stories."
Agree or not, this quick note informs us that there is a very real lack of transparency which dominates local life.
What's worse is that so many blame urban core communities for their lack of cooperation with authorities amid violence when it's clear that it's common practice among Kansas City political leadership to obscure information, avoid disclosure and keep voters, authorities and law enforcement in the dark.
Our quickie playlist tonight and a few examples . . .
Tax fighters have continually asked for a term sheet and more financial disclosure regarding the upcoming Downtown Convention Hotel but they've heard nothing but the Sound Of Silence in return as local news is more willing to cover the placement of traffic cones rather than the sketchy financial structure of a deal that might soon dominate the downtown skyline despite the lack of an economically viable plan . . .
Voters across the city recently demanded more access into streetcar decisions, instead a great many city council members have chipped away at a recent vote and the toy train continues expansion without much public accountability while toy train cheerleaders literally enjoy the silence enforced upon the electorate regarding this topic.
Sadly, there really isn't a bright side here as social media helps move the public away from news and the decline of legacy media helps foster silence in which government corruption prospers. Silence is the enemy of an active and thriving Democracy but sadly social media has offered voters little more than a digital herd mentality that's a far better tool for bullying than encouraging voter participation.
In conclusion, the smarter denizens of our blog community wonder how many of his colleagues Mike Sanders will take down with him and the only hint of an answer we have is that some news outlets are reporting his complicity with the code of silence that dominates every facet of local life.
As always, thanks for reading this week and have a safe and fun Saturday night . . .
Voters get what they deserve.
ReplyDeleteYou voted for Sly, you will have to deal with how he runs this city into the ground. Look at all the recent tax increases, they enjoyed overwhelming support.
I see your point but there are some flaws in that logic.
DeleteLook at how Kansas City locks voters our.
The streetcar keeps pushing ahead because of TDD. This process is just straight up voter suppression. And most KC voters disagree with it.
The taxes you speak of, like the E-tax - A lot of people who pay for it don't even get a say. The earnings tax is aimed at Johnson County but those voters don't have any input.
Yes, there's a the typical silence that accompanies political scandals and criminal investigations but my biggest problem with KC is how elected officials constantly want to silence voters.
Have no idea what you guys are complaining about, KC has the best government money can buy.
DeleteThe market makes the final determination. The corruption is obvious and that's why real investment inside the city continues to fall and jobs haven't come back to downtown. The politicians chase away business that doesn't want to operate under these hostile conditions.
ReplyDeleteHey Makini, the other women have names. Just how many do you allow Caleb to be with while claiming to be a family man?
ReplyDeleteWhat we need is the Feds to take Sly down over this airport business and send him to prison for about 30 years.
ReplyDeleteWater board that pale white pasty looking f__k.
ReplyDeleteFrank needs to resign. His actions do not reflect someone who takes the public trust seriously. The way he has run combat shows a serious lack of judgment and Leadership. If we are talking about cleaning up local government, we need to bring some reason back to Jackson County and engage in a full audit of the combat anti drug tax along with how it is run.
ReplyDeleteSanders is old school and much tougher than the average politico. Williford is a scared bitch.
ReplyDeleteSly isn’t tough, he is a fat cunt. He’ll squeal like a fat pig.
DeleteWhen Sly goes down, he will take people with him, like people from Buttfuck & McDouche.
DeleteSanders is a felon deserving of scorn.
DeleteWTF? TV news showed Sanders doing cocky grins while his lawyer read that canned mea culpa on his crimmie client's behalf. There wasn't even the slightest unease, or any hint of contrition on display. Disgusting.
ReplyDeleteYou used a city credit card to buy the burner cell phones..? Oh fuck. Sly = Kawamee Kilpatrick.
ReplyDelete9:50 Maybe he sold the farm for a good deal.
ReplyDeleteHe was described as "not cooperative", but he did get a good deal it appears. Say what you want, but he's nobody's bitch.
ReplyDeleteJust a four eyed felon.
DeleteThe feds just caught the tip of the iceberg. Sanders won't talk because all the criminal activity he knows about involves himself. He's going to get a slap on the wrist, so there is no need to talk.
ReplyDeleteAnd Williford cuts the deal of a rat and still crys like a little bitch. Makes my heart soar to hear what a weak pussy he is. But Sanders not talking surprises. He could sing on half the dems in Missouri, but would rather go down like a man.
ReplyDeleteWe have new Federal Prosecutors in the district. Just sayin'
ReplyDeleteGlad they aren’t weak dicks like Jean Petersucker Baker.
Delete9:50 raises a good point.
ReplyDeleteWhat is it with that cocky grin on his pasty face?
Remember...he hasn't reached the sentencing phase yet. There is still time for him to start squealing as his date with Bubba approaches.
But let the suckers breathe a sigh of relief if they want...it will just make the crash more impressive later.
Cmon mike, sing like a bird and President Trumps dream of draining the swamp could start right here in good ole mizzou, I’m mean missouri! Dummocrats bring so much to the table for taxpayers, crime, murder, sexcapades, robbing the taxpayers blind, you get the picture! Lmao!!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe he can get the cleave “throwed” while he’s t it!!!
ReplyDeleteKnow this...Calvin Williford talked to save himself. That he's still being charged with at least double the amount, only testifies to the large (no pun intended) roll he played. He sung like a bird, and still will pay a high price. This guy's a selfish manipulative train wreck.
ReplyDeleteSanders is just a thug, no better than any of the scumbags he prosecuted. I'm sorry but when a corrupt politician gets caught I want him to "rat out" the other rats. Fuck them all!
ReplyDeleteThe fact Sanders didn't cooperate just shows that rather than run a government he was running an organized crime operation.
9:29 100+
ReplyDeleteI'm not giving Sanders credit for keeping his mouth shut. Screw him for covering the asses of other corrupt politicians, like his handpicked successor at Jackson County, Frank White.
9:29 & 9:54
ReplyDeleteYou're both spot on! He's a criminal and his criminal actions and silence speaks louder than any words he could attempt to put forth in a defense. He hires the best criminal defense attorney and all is well for those he is protecting. Jackson County is corrupt. It has been for as long as one can remember. The politicians protect one another as they are screwing the taxpayers.
Keeping quiet is the price that must be paid. He will bounce back as a cultural Democrat HERO.
ReplyDeleteCalvin on the other hand will never get anything except a janitors job.
Nah. He'll bounce back as a felon.
DeleteThere's apparently REAL F. B. I. still, in this Great America, working to clean up some of Killa City's crime. Why did Crimmie Jimmy Comey give Hilly, Huma, Billy, Loretta, et al, such bigly breaks for their yuuuuuge malfeasance? Hmmmmm...
ReplyDeleteGuess the Greitens thing is old news, Sanders federal guilty plea the spotlight news. Slap on the wrist thing. Greitens resignation will be back as libs will push on.
ReplyDeleteLaser focus is going on to any key back scratch deals Sanders made. Follow the money, account for it too.
ReplyDeleteThe FBI knows how to play that game, but the public should understand this is not just a Missouri side issue now. Stay tuned.
A daisy chain of self dealing might just come unraveled, now every deal will get scrutiny. Greitens is no prize either, a narcissist with little background for where he is. Surprise, surprise, shooting a machine gun is different than running a state.
