Rob Carson Reinvents Himself Via Podcast

Right now, here's a quick look at former Kansas City talker finding new life online . . .

While building his audio podcast, his video podcast is now reaching between 400,000 and 500,000 views per month. He does it every day on LibertyOneTV. He's one of the main hosts along with Rusty Humphries and Joe Biggs.

The demo is 60% 18-44 and, 75% mobile and 63% female...yes, female. They have 19 million social media followers, 16,000,000 views and 7,000,000 unique website visitors (LibertyOneTV.com).

Congrats to Mr. Carson who seems to be successfully building his online brand amid the demise of terrestrial radio.

  2. Question, if you were any good in the first place why do you have to reinvent yourself? You sound like Hillary Clinton how many times has she try to reinvent herself?

  3. "Reinventing" one's self is not about being bad at a former profession. It's about increasing the value of your currency in a world that's turning against terrestrial radio "anonymous" troll. Radio is in trouble, and we as personalities must learn new skill sets to reach out to an audience on digital platforms.

    1. Maybe you should do your family a favor and just got out of the radio business completely and get a real job. Where you have to produce something and not just about opinions.

    2. There is a market for opinions. Not everything needs to come off of an assembly line to have value.

  4. But you would have to agree you would prefer to be on terrestrial radio. Where the money and the benefits were guaranteed as long as the contract ran. If you were still there you would not be Reinventing yourself. Please go away your opinions are neither wanted nor valued that is why you are no longer on the radio. I think HyVee is looking for sackers

  5. Dear anonymous p*ssy who won't reveal his/her identity. I actually wouldn't rather be on terrestrial radio. If you knew what the hell you were talking about, and you don't, you'd know radio salaries aren't what they used to be. There is something about creative freedom and having your own studio. Also, I'm not hindered by the FCC in any way, shape or form. Clearly, you are an unhappy person. I'm assuming maybe it's because of your hum drum job. You are a coward. You are a dipshit. 26,000 people cared about my opinion last night by tuning into my video podcast. 500,000 views last month is a whole lot of people who care about my opinion. Now, if you'd like to say who you are, I'd love to know, but in the meantime, your opinion doesn't mean dick, and you are one. By the way dipshit, my podcast is on Itunes, Iheartradio, Tunein, Google+, Soundcloud, Audioboom, Alexa and Youtube where a whole hell of a lot of people care about my opinion.

  7. That's why your not on the radio.. you got nothing but big words and insults I never dropped to the level of calling you a pussy but if we're going there you are a conservative when bag of shit who couldn't cut it in his profession so you list a bunch of sites your podcast are on there's also twice as many podcast sides about aliens UFOs and Bigfoot that have more listeners than you once again please go away you are not relevant or popular when you were on the radio you always scored in the lower half of Arbitron that is why you are not here no one cared when you are on the radio they sure the hell don't care now I'm only commenting on this because people like you give the media the black eye you're just as bad as those on the left you suck at your profession and you pissed away all your college money must be hard just to sit there and spout opinions with no facts oh wait a minute I'm doing that now maybe I should get a podcast to

  9. @ 1:22 I have several friends who are no longer on radio and one who just did go back on the air. Talk shows are not a black eye of radio. Look if you don't care for Rob then don't listen or make asinine remarks. I know all about radio I have heard about it for over 40 years, seen the glory and seen the bad. Radio has changed and you either agree to work for less, do what you don't want to do or as Rob has done reinvent yourself. The heyday of radio is gone, ruined by public opinions and corporations. I see the question asked a lot of what can't they bring KY102 back. It's simple folks, a lot of what KY did isn't allowed anymore and the listening audience changed, grew up, moved away and a whole pile of other reasons I'm not going to list. I hope Rob makes it work for him when my buddy Kelly tried a few years ago he didn't make it but his home studio is still set up so maybe one day he'll try it again.

  10. Keep it up Carson. I tune in all the time. It sucks that you are no longer on 710, but Dana Wright and Scott Parks the worthless, drunk hacks they are are still on the air.

  11. Rob, really enjoyed your morning show on 710. Wish you nothing but success in your new endeavor.

  12. Love your show Carson! Miss you on 710 and not sure they will even be around in a couple of weeks. They either can't afford any decent personalities or some manager there is too sensitive for even the most benign host. In regards to podcasts vs terrestrial radio, I'm finding the podcasts better and better every day! No commercials, no wasted time with idiot callers (like anonymous 12:38 & 1:22), and ican listen whenever, even pausing when needed. It's ideal! Hope your dog is ok too!
