Newspaper went to a police board meeting and offers a longstanding local truism to readers. You decide:
Kansas City's epidemic of stolen guns hits new high
Thieves are stealing firearms in Kansas City at an alarming and rising rate, new numbers show. The number of reported thefts hit 886 in 2017 - a 50 percent increase over the past two years. Kansas City stands out in what has been a national epidemic as more guns than ever are bought, sold - and stolen.
Bang bang another hood rat hits the linoleum.
ReplyDeleteIt's not surprising to see that the places where criminals steal guns are outside places where guns cannot be carried. How about running gun checks at the doors of these places rather than requiring owners to leave weapons on their cars? It does that make too much sense for Kansas City?
ReplyDelete"Much of the increase has been seen in thefts of firearms from vehicles...." It should have been easy to back up this assertion with solid numbers. As stated, it is nearly meaningless. I'd also like to see that number broken down further by location and event. One common tactic for bangers to get a gun is to have their baby mama buy one, then report it stolen after giving it to the banger. Are those incidents captured in the stats?
