KANSAS CITY DREAMER WAKE-UP CALL: DEMOCRATS STAY LOSING IMMIGRATION DEBATE AGAINST PREZ TRUMP & GOP!!!

The political lesson learned from the latest government shut down debate is simple and cruel: America First populism "TRUMPS" platitudes regarding the plight of immigrants.

Practically speaking, immigration is once again a losing cause for Democratic Party leaders.

That's not to say that the issue doesn't make for some great talking points . . .

Remember . . .

The KCPS stood up for the rights of dreamers whilst defying La Migra.

And then . . .

The majority of the KCMO Council signed onto a resolution in solidarity with Dreamers & DACA.

However . . .

In the final analysis, Prez Trump's half-truth contention that the Democratic Party was fighting for immigrants over support for the U.S. military was more than enough to undermine the dreamer plight and inspire opposition leadership to quickly retreat.

The lesson here shouldn't be lost on local immigrants who often serve as props for partisan rallies . . .

KMBC: Nearly 4,000 'Dreamers' in limbo in the Kansas City area

More to the point . . .

This is a wake-up call to Kansas City Dreamers - Passionate protests and social media advocacy won't keep away La Migra as political pawns often make the best martyrs.

Democratic Party leadership FAILED to live up to promises to fight for DACA and Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill has always been EXCEPTIONALLY HOSTILE toward the plight of Latinos & Dreamers . . .

Prez Trump & more reasonable voices of the GOP promised to deport and round-up criminals first but targeting children is easier and more satisfying for the hardcore right-wing. Moreover, illegal immigrant activists are now first the list for deportation.

Fun fact ... Anti-immigrant fervor is making such a big comeback that they've even started shipping back the Irish again:

Undocumented Irishman brought to USA aged 12 faces deportation to Dublin

And so . . . To coin a KC Westside phrase that sums up this entire hot mess . . . Local Dreamers confront the reality that "You're on your own ese" which is an apropos axiom for all those without much political capital or dependent on promises from elected officials.

  1. Be fair now.

Obama deported A LOT of people and Trump is just now starting to catch up with the numbers of his predecessor.

Of course they want to start more deportations. They need somebody to build that stupid wall from the other side.

Mexico isn't going to pay for it, they're going to get richer off it. How many billions is that going to be in the new budget?

  3. Dreamers are just one of many groups that Claire has sold out over the years. She's running an all white lady campaign for 2020. Unless Hawley gets named in a #MeToo controversy, it'll be fun to watch her lose.

  4. 7:58 - Obama's deportation numbers were just another fraud on the public. His administration started counting turn-backs as deportations, so there would appear to be many more deportations than before. His entire administration was one big lie.

  5. That stupid wall is an even worse debacle than the new KCI airport, just another scheme for the lowest bidder to get rich. Like a monolith to government waste and stupidity.

  6. I'm always surprised that the conversation doesn't focus on the parents who brought children here illegally. I can't imagine introducing the uncertainty, fear, and possible consequences to your child's life. Who are these parents and why did they do this to their kids? Shouldn't they have prepared their kids for the possibility that they would have to return to their homes at some time? Isn't the education that they received in the USA enough to give them the opportunity to succeed in their home country? Have these families been able to save enough over the decades working in the USA enough to help them succeed in their home countries?

Some will argue that they were escaping the harsh realities of their home countries. To that, I would ask why are their home countries is the condition that they are in? Is it because their best and brightest are leaving (brain drain) to make money in the USA? Do the remittances they send back to their home countries create a culture of dependency? Does the migration issue contribute the the political issues taking place in their home countries? Why focus on corruption and crime when we can blame the USA for not accepting everyone who wants to come here?

Status quo hasn't helped immigrants or their home countries. Hard problems deserve hard answers. Maybe these DREAMERS returning to their home countries is the best opportunity for the USA and their home countries?

  8. 8:40 My sentiments exactly. The dreamers should have/should be preparing to return. Save some dollars, get an education that will benefit you upon return. Seems to me that an educated dual language individual would be in high demand back home.

    1. I think we should deport all the dreamers after they have spent time in prison. If they have been here illegally for 12 years, they should spend 12 years in prison before they get deported. Once they are deported, they should be shot if they try to come back.

  9. If anyone remembers Obama was also campaigning for a boarder wall but when he got into office it faded away with the rest of his lies to win. After his Christian bashing he also let muslim refugees in but not Christians and those Christians were brutally murdered.

  10. My parents and I violated United States federal immigration laws.....but, I'm a DREAMER! I'm only an UNDOCUMENTED DREAMER!

Do you see how the Liberal Democrats attempt to misuse language to promote their propaganda?

Who wouldn't like a DREAMER? And UNDOCUMENTED sounds like someone who simply forgot their legal papers at home this morning.

If you're in this country ILLEGALLY, meaning you didn't go through the proper legal process to enter, then clearly you're in violation of U.S. federal law. You're NOT a dreamer, you're NOT an undocumented resident, YOU'RE A CRIMINAL.

Quit perverting our language. And every time you hear a corporate news propagandist use terms like "dreamer" and "undocumented", instantly realize that they're aiding and abetting violators of U.S. law. Corporate news media are the enemy of an informed public.

  11. 8:40, great points. I agree. It is likely that there will eventually be some form of amnesty for true "Dreamers," i.e. those who were brought here as young children and have lost all connection with their native country. But: they should not get an accelerated path to citizenship; they have to prove they qualify as "Dreamers" under a strict definition of the term; and their parents have to go and stay gone.

  12. They are illegal. All the PR can't just fact they are cheating and millions have followed the rules and have been allowed to enter the U.S. legally. Time to send them home.

  15. The fate of the Dreamers is NOT in the hands of the Democrats -- who control NO branch of government, no House of Congress. It is in the hands of Roy Blunt of Missouri and the two Kansas Senators. And in the hands of Sam Graves and the Mo & Ks Members of the House. If Paul Ryan would grow some and allow an up/down vote, DACA would pass both houses. He -- like Boehner -- is simply intimidated by the nutty Freedom Caucus.

Shutting down the government was a way for the Dems to give COVER to the Prez and the Cowards in Congress so that they could have the excuse of blaming the Dems for being forced to do the right thing. Problem is that the Prez -- who probably would like to get a deal done -- caved to his staff bigots. I believe the term is: "SO SAD!"

  16. The reason you "haven't heard/seen from those corrupt Soros organizations La Raza, UnidosUS, Hispanic COC," is bc Trump/Sessions dried up the kitty.
Obama and his DOJ were giving those groups money from winning law suits against corporate America. Whenever the FED's sued a company for some kind of a infraction in US Policy and won, all that money would go to these leftest org's to further their cause.
Another one of obama/holder tricks that wrecked our country.

  19. Trump is not going to send the Dreamers back. He just wants a constitutional law passed to replace the unconstitutional executive order that Obama put in place without authority to do so. He also thought closing down the government for an issue effecting less than 1 percent of the population was not fair to legal citizens.

Remember the Democrats did think illegal aliens were worth shutting down your government and all of the Democrats voted against giving you a tax cut. Now they are hiding the FISA memo that implicates the FBI in conspiring to control our presidential election. Buckle up snowflakes the proverbial crap is about to hit your perfect fan.

  20. Illegal is illegal what more discussion on the matter needs to take place. Makes no matter who you are or what you are or your age. If you're not here legally you have to go. This country wastes way to much time and money on those who don't help support it

If politicians talked about dealing with the issues as much as they just talked about the issues this crap would have been dealt with 50 or more years ago.

  21. 840 is correct on many points. However this immigration and wall are just bets in a big stakes poker hand. Trump won this hand but he needs to keep on winning until he gets Shummer and Pelosi out of their seats in Congress and Senate.
The reason the dems don't really want to talk immigration openly is that when (not if) the dreamers are allowed to seek US citizenship then they have to out their parents who are the real criminals. You can't charge a kid for crimes the parents commit. That would lead to ICE going after the illegal immigrant parents and deporting them back to (yes say it with me) their shithole country that they fled. Leave the now college educated kids here and send the rents back.

  26. 11:32, contrary to your post, the fate of the Dreamers is in the hands of the Democrats. It is the Democrats' refusal to compromise that is standing in the way of a bill that would legalize people who are really and truly "Dreamers." I don't much care about a physical wall (spend the money to beef up border security), but putting an end to chain migration ought to be a reasonable trade-off.

But in reality, the Democrats don't give a damn about the Dreamers. They see more value in pissing and moaning in front of TV cameras when the President starts again enforcing the law as written. To the Democrats, the Dreamers are just collateral damage.

  27. uhhhh helllooo ??? Don’t worry about the Illegal Invader Dreamers !! SCOTUS will resolve that by June . Trump knows this, the Memocrats know this , this is all about the Wall and breaking the treasonous left in half . 28. The Dreamers (and all illegals) need to go. Granting them amnesty only serves to encourage others to sneak in, knowing if they lay low long enough, they too can beat the law.

  29. Agree that some of the comments here are excellent. The American public has spoken again and again, build the wall and send the dreamer's home. That's what people are voting for. I don't like it but to deny it is simply false.
