Kansas City Dead-Tree Opinion Leaders???

I don't buy it . . . In this promotional column the newspaper claims it leads local opinion in the era of social media celebrity push back and online viral sensations. You decide:

A year later, The Star Editorial Board is leading a community conversation - and expanding

One year ago, The Star's revamped editorial board made its debut. Our aim, I said in an introductory column, was to launch a community conversation. At least one reader took me at my word. He soon started calling me each morning, leaving multiple voicemails bright and early with his critique of that day's opinion pages.

Comments

  1. The Star does indeed lead local opinion but not in the way they want to. When the Star states their opinion on any issue, people take whatever the opposite side to the Star opinion, knowing how fucked up and corruptly bought and paid for the Star opinion is

  2. That picture of those 'objective', 'journalists' (Shills) is the perfect personification of Agenda Driven 'Journalism'.

Good evening Mr. and Mrs. America, from coast to coast, border to border and all the ships at sea. These liars, shills and Progressive, Press Pack Dogs are what now passes for the once renowned 4th estate here in this dirty little town. What a fuckin disgrace.

  3. The Star is a joke and everyone knows it. The only people they are fooling are themselves.

  4. Whores for the 1% of Kansas City is better title.

  5. Apparently, the Star doesn't think there are any Republicans in the community because the editorial board consists of seven liberals and zero Republicans.

  6. Man . . . that was downright embarrassing.

If you have to write a column just to let people know how wonderful you are . . . the odds are good that you're not.

  7. As George Orwell said,
"Journalism is printing what somebody else doesn't want printed...
    Everything else is public relations."
Pretty well sums up this group and most of the rest of the "reporters" at the Star.
It's sad to see what has been allowed to happen to a once-great Kansas City institution.

  8. In any given election probably less than 10% of voters subscribe to the Star. The problem is voters do need journalists to be informed, but better to be uninformed than to be misinformed by the Star.

Yes, the Star writers are libs, but most journalists are and most people recognize it. What most people don't recognize is the Star has become a total mouthpiece for the looting class.

  9. Sign your work, Colleen and the six dwarves. That's what you promised when you arrived. It's been a year, and you can't even manage to do that.
Sign your damn work. No more anonymous editorials.

Every day, every editorial. Own your words. You are not God, you are not Jesus, you are just seven people with opinions. You do not "know more". You are privileged people with a soap box.
Sign your work. It's not that hard. I do it every day.

Exactly! I've been requesting the same thing since before Nelson hit town. They're cowards.

    1. Not completely diverse. They need a chink, a towelhead, and someone that has a clue.

  12. "Diversity" = people who look different but think alike.

  13. Embarrassed to admit it, but there was a time when I was interested in what Helling and Kraske wrote.

Don't know if they've sold out or I've wised up, but now they're a bad as Abouhalka ever was.
This whole damn bunch "Never met a waste of Tax money they didn't like"!

  14. If they didn't have jobs at the Star their faces would all be on the most wanted list at the Post Office.

  16. Ahh Tracy the sexy sensuous and the always mysteriously alluring Tracy. Valid point. Have you ever considered starting your own blog?

  17. What in the hell is Kraske doing? Why is he standing up? His real job involves being perpetually on his knees for City Hall.

  18. Hey at least they got rid of Lee Judge. Now that was one dumb mother.

  19. Colleen might not be great at this, but she gives a shockingly good blowjob. Dedicated and comprehensive.

  20. They ADDED to the divisive Editorial Board!
They are doubling down on a leftist agenda and fail to see the stupidity...
They need real reporters reporting... not opinions and agenda-makers. If this is their answer to a declination of readership... then the downward hill of irrelevance just got steeper. As a shareholder I would as what logical accountability and terminate the idea and save payroll.
Sure are a lot of good reporters that could give real relevance if they could just trade spots with this “diverse” group.
You have to wonder who is shorting their stock and getting rich?
