Kansas City Compassion Questioned After Story Of Youngster Gunned Down Quickly Disappears From Local News-Cycle

An emotional plea from the newspaper that's not really matched up by a dearth of their own coverage on the topic. You decide:

Nine-year-old Dominic Young Jr. was fatally shot. Does Kansas City care?

Dominic Young Jr. spent Saturday playing video games with friends, skating and bowling, nothing out of the ordinary for a 9-year-old boy. Unfortunately, the horrific end of Dominic's brief life is less and less out of the ordinary in the Kansas City area.

  2. I would like to know a few things, like what was his father doing rolling around the hood with his kids in his truck at midnight on a Saturday night? How did he make it all the way from there to Grandview without knowing his son had been shot? Why is he not talking about it and some Grandmother is the one spouting off about it?
The more valid question ? If the father cared about his son, why did he not have his son at home, safe and in bed much earlier? We do care, and we want to know the truth, not the bullshit we have been told so far.

  3. Yeah! Fuck The Star! Good thing we've got Tony Botello, who reports every tragic death and murder with unabashed glee!!! And then treats teenage suicides like some sort of game!!!

    1. So much better to hide the violence! So much better to sweep bullying under the rug! Let's all get on the streetcar and forget the bad stuff!

The Star's a bad joke, no more than City Hall's mouthpiece. And everyone knows it.

    2. I would have unabashed indiffernce being informed of your death. Probably some glee.

  5. Murder is a crime that should be investigated aggressively, whether it’s a 9 year old innocent child or a useless 29 year old hood rat. But we don’t do that because our mayor and city council don’t care, the police are ineffective and unskilled and Jean Petersucker Baker is not a good prosecutor.

  6. It's not that people don't care, they're desensitized to black crime. It is massive and never-ending. More importantly, black people don't care. Plus, people aren't buying this story because it is almost surely bullshit. Black peoples lifestyle puts everyone around them in danger, including innocent bystanders who,are doing things like leaving Starlight and taking a random bullet like that woman a few years ago. Or that little kid that is paralyzed now because his dad's lifestyle made him a target from his enemies. Or Machole Stewart in the Dotte that was killed because her older brother is a gang-banger. The lost goes on and on. People have fatigue, this is completely commonplace in the black community. Think how rare it is to wake up and a black person hasn't killed someone in KC the night before. It Almost never happens. Last week the black police chief in St. Louis cited the fact that of the 205 murders in St Louis last year 204 were black and 100% of the suspects were black. Nobody can help people who won't help themselves.

  7. Make this death a priority KCPD!

I think the police will find that there is support in the community to stop this kind of nonsense. Many make bad choices but this was an innocent. He deserves justice and the kind that kill in this situation will surely do it again.

Let's come together and solve this case.

  8. How many more people have to die from all walks of life before we realize that we need to start going after illegal guns and criminals who posses firearms? We don't need new laws, just to enforce the ones already on the books!

  9. Yeah!! Fuck The Star!!! Good thing we've got Tony Botello who reports every tragic murder and teenage suicide with unabashed glee and lots of exclamation points!!!

    1. Stop repeating yourself. Feeble point wasn't made the first time, still irrelevant now.

    2. It's a good and valid point. Tony takes delight in the suffering of others just so he can say TOLD YOU SO!!!

      It's sick.

What if the father is telling the truth? I realize it's really unlikely since he's black and they are genetically unable to tell the truth but there's a small chance here.

  10. 1.) The star needs to address their phony concerns to the BLACK community.

2.) The "victim's" truck had 4 to 5 shots that hit in and around the drivers side windshield. That's not crossfire. That's aiming.

  11. "What does it say about Kansas City when a child is gunned down and barely a ripple is felt throughout the community?" It says that nobody but the idiots at the Star believe the father's story. A newspaper that was not biased beyond the point of dishonesty would investigate before reaching a conclusion. For the Star, the conclusion comes first, so no investigation is needed.

  12. ^^^ Kind of like yourself.

  13. If the father was telling the truth about what he was up to, and has a believable reason why he was driving around with his 9 year old son in the wee hours, then the Star can report that its investigation confirmed such, and we doubters will have egg on our faces. But we all know that isn't going to happen, don't we?
