Jackson County Debate Over COMBAT: Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker And Executive Frank White Argue Over Stop Sign Parable

For the most part, Kansas City MSM has done a horrible job at explaining the debate over control of the Jackson County COMBAT anti-crime program to the public.

Again, COMBAT isn't just an operation in charge of candlelight vigils - It's basically a branch of Courthouse government that takes in around $19-million worth of taxpayer funds annually.

And so tonight, we're featuring this quickie debate moment of tension between two elected officials on the issue at hand. In this clip, Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker offers a "stop sign analogy" which Exec Frank White contradicts with a legal opinion.

Ultimately, the argument wasn't settled, was handed back to the Legislature and is now on it's way to an EXPENSIVE legal decision.

In the meantime, here's the Prosecutor attempting to explain the sitch in a tense exchange with the Exec:

You decide . . .

  1. And THIS is why JaxCo property taxes keep hiking up and up and up.

  2. COMBAT has never been anything but a huge slush fund for insiders, friends, political supporters, and outright grifters.
And a quick look at last year's 149 murders, half of them unsolved, gives you a clear idea of the utter ineffectiveness of this and all the other "anti-crime" nonprofit boondoggles.
This fight is just over WHO gets to ladle out the goodies, nothing more.
What a waste of money and what a joke to watch these vultures fighting over the body.
Your JaCo public servants at work!

  3. Easy to find a "Path Out" Jean, SHUT UP!
If YOU don't like the opinion the County's Attorney wrote, then as you said (over and over and over and over and...) "there's a Process" for addressing that.

You, however ARE NOT the County's Attorney, and since the legitimacy of the Ordinance is the issue in question, YOU DO NOT get to rely on that Ordinance as "the Rule Of Law" that you referred to (again, over and over and...).

GET IT? Maybe you should re-read your first year Law School books, that might help with your conviction rates.

  5. Frank is way over his head. He has tax problems he doesn’t understand conflict of interest ,a current federal investigation into Sanders all on his plate plus overruled the charter and the legislature on the combat transfer. A recipe for disaster.

  6. She’ll just give Frankie boy probation!

  7. Here’s the thing:
    1. Frank is an idiot and needs to go.
    2. Jean Petersucker Baker is a worthless weak-dick prosecutor and needs to go.
    3. COMBAT is totally ineffective and just a well funded trough for politicians to steal from, and needs to go.

  8. The best solution is repealing the COMBAT slush fund.

  9. 9:08 The County Counselor's opinion, dip shit, is just that, an opinion. It doesn't make a law null and void. And when the counselor is Steve Nixon it's not an opinion to be trusted. He's going to tell the county executive whatever the county executive wants to hear. Nixon proved he has no ethics when he signed off on Sleazy Mike Sanders' $60,000 consulting contract/going away gift. And whether or not Frank White still has control over COMBAT or not, there's supposed to be limits on how COMBAT funds are used. They can't legally be spent on salaries for just any position, like trying to keep Caleb Clifford and Frank's PR team around.

  10. Jean, or rather "@ 3:26", thank you!
To be called a "dip shit" (which it usually one word, not two, just sayin') BY YOU is a compliment!

Anytime one of your limited capacities and capabilities is driven to "ad hominem" name-calling by someone's posting, it just emphasizes the level of your own abilities, and can do nothing but weaken any argument you put forward and validate theirs.

Again, I thank you get some sleep now, dear, tomorrow is another day.

  11. 8:51 is a GENIUS!

I'm surprised JPB hasn't been called a racist yet! She felt the need to talk down to FW (it's like a stop sign) because she knows he's not too bright.

  12. To be clear, the county counselor is hired and fired by the county executive. You can NEVER be “independent” in this situation.

  13. Time for this Combat bullshit to end. If there is money for stadiums, buying train lines, paying elected libtards to make political speeches and throwing parties there is no need for this crap as a separate tax.
