Here's the worst nightmare of many politicos, a bookkeeping report offering documentation to the public regarding the incestuous world of local politics.
KSHB: Jax Co. lawmaker gets $500 contribution from Mike Sanders - Scott Burnett also has had tax issues
As campaign season moves forward, we expect that the news will "uncover" all of the cash flowing in and out of the "Integrity in Law Enforcement" PAC that drew political heat as well.
But tonight, there's just a bit of media RAGE over this bit of campaign fodder cooked up by consultants and offering a preview of the 2018 slap-fight ahead.
Developing . . .
Scott's a pretty great legislator.
ReplyDeleteThis one looks like a plant from Frank's people, trying to get the heat off them. Scott will win EASILY and really doubt he'll even have a challenger.
Not so great scott?
DeletePassable Scott.
Okay Scott would probably be more accurate.
Scott Burnett has been one of the few people working on the Legislature who has been evenhanded with both Frank and his critics. Scott is very responsive and one of the best elected officials Kansas City working in Kansas City. I don't think he deserves flak for the wrongdoings of a guy who lied to just about everyone in town.
DeleteIs it a requirement that you have to be a lying dipshit to serve in the Jaz Co legislature? These guys don’t know about their own taxes but want to run the county. No wonder it’s so fucked up.
ReplyDeleteKC politics is hitting an all time. Low.
ReplyDeleteA shame really.
It's nice to see people moving back into the city and downtown area but the only hope of making progress is to get more people voting and hope that "business as usual" doens't keep happening at the county or city hall.
Great reporting there, wtf if every politician in town who got money from Mike Sanders over the last ten years is now tainted, 12th and Oak would be a ghost town. Do they not understand that was the point, they set it up to look legitimate, gave money all around, some more than others and some in their own pockets.
ReplyDeleteScott Burnett has always been an ally of Westport and KC. I've worked with him a quite a bit the last couple of decades. He's got more common sense than most politicians and has done a lot of charitable work in KC. I stand by him now and in the future as do many people in my neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteIt doesn't matter how nice Scott is. Did he pay his taxes or not? If not he shouldn't be in office.
ReplyDeleteSo someone on Team Frank must know somebody at 41.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, making a big deal out of a $500 campaign donation? Sanders was essentially Frank White's political godfather, he twisted arms to make Frank county executive, a job he is painfully unqualified for. Oh, Sanders also worked out the super secret deal for who knows how much money (probably a whole lot more than $500) to bail Frank out of his foreclosure mess. That's all highly questionable.
And 9:44 if Scott should not now be in office, then neither should Frank White.
Scott Burnett had an unpaid tax lien from 2004? How was he eligible to run for office? What is going on with these men!
ReplyDeleteThis band of corrupt morons. you know what they say about people in glass houses
ReplyDeleteMaybe instead of just signing an affidavit saying you don't owe taxes when filing to be a candidate you need to provide proof. The DMV doesn't just take my word for it when I renew my plates.
ReplyDeleteScott Burnett is a stand up guy who follows the rule of the law. I have known him for years and trust the guy completely.
ReplyDeleteScott Burnett is perhaps the one politician in this town that I trust. Moreover, he does more grunt work that helps the disadvantaged in this city than all of the rest of them put together.
ReplyDeleteThe affidavit candidates sign is for personal taxes, the reporter found some old dispute about state withholding on biz employer disputes on Waits and Burnett. Not the same thing, not very good research on the facts. Could they demand retractions?
ReplyDeleteThat fast talking sack of shit Mike Sanders is finally getting the start of what's coming to him.
