Nevertheless . . .

THE OVERLAND PARK POLICE CONFRONT SOCIAL MEDIA PUSH BACK AGAINST THEIR TACTICS IN THE KILLING OF THE YOUNG MAN!!!

Here's an example of the questions their facing and just a glimpse of the outrage that's lighting up their social media page . . .

A critic on the OPPD page writes: "Where are the trained mental health officers OP has hired?!? Why is this child dead? . . . I’ll never understand why a child threatening to hurt themselves & calls police in a cry for help ended up dead! This is a tragedy for all involved but quite frankly it’s due to a lack of training officers receive in mental health crisis. This could have been avoided. What a shame. RIP . . ."

  1. we ask a lot of police but time after time it's clear they don't have enough training.

  2. I think this comment made a good point about resources. With population still growing in the suburbs, they are now under a cash crunch. It would be nice if they could afford more staff to handle these complex calls but the fact is that they are understaffed, underpaid and overworked.

I support police but I also understand the reality of the situation.

  3. Don't blame the officer. He was put into the middle. Ultimately, trying to protect the citizens. Let's wait for the toxicology results. Officer needs to protect the greater population. This child may have been screaming for help but, what about the number of people. Glad the sick child didn't kill innocent folks.

  4. There's no changing this trend. Police are basically military-ready nowadays, always ready to shoot. Combine that with a guaranteed immunity and it'll continue to happen. Police can do no wrong in our culture nowadays.

Hey, will Black Lives Matter and Antifa have anything to say about this?

  5. I think people are a lot more sympathetic when this kind of thing happens in their own backyard. When they see it happen against people of different ethnic backgrounds they can write it off or blame others. But this shows that the trend exists in suburbia as well.

  6. white kid dead from a family with money. Cop will have to get another job in rural kansas. sorry. that's just the way it works.

  7. Always easy for social media and armchair judges to pass judgement without knowing all the facts especially after only 24 hours. Let the outside independent shooting team do their job.

  8. What bullshit. Someone in a two-ton vehicle being used as a weapon attempts to use it to kill a cop and then who knows who else he would have injured and people are whining because the cop stopped him before he could injure anyone. How stupid can you be? Play stupid games, win stupid prizes. Sounds to me like suicide by cop. I feel sorry for the cop who has to deal with shooting this kid, but not the kid, or the whiners demanding more training. "Excuse" me, could you slow down after you run over me so I can try some psychobabble out on you?" Utter bullshit.

  9. Grow the f*** up with the outrage. It's horrible, yes, but acceptable. Someome threatening to hurt himself calls the police. The police show up and a car pulls out of the garage. The car accelerates towards them. It was a threat and they reacted to it. It could've been a prank call to lure officers to the house. It could've been someone other than the suicidal teenager in the car. Are the rules different for a white 17-year old from Johnson County? It's horrible that he's dead but police shooting the driver of a car that threatened their physical safety simply doesn't prove that they need better training.

  10. I'm glad police are investigating. I hope they will be fair to people who contradict the official story. Because there is a lot of skepticism about that story. A full report should also be released to the public.

  11. Haha. Ultimately no one gives a shit. Just something to talk about, to gawk at. Life goes on.

  12. ^^^ That's nihilistic lib-tard talk. I think the police are doing a good job explaining the situation. They are being transparent and taking responsibility while useless piles of waste like 8:40 aren't contributing much to the conversation.

Stand with the police, support the police. Back the badge!

    1. Haha. Not nihilist, just honest. You don't give a shit about this kid who died. His only value lies in projecting your beliefs and predictable opinions into his situation.

  13. Not much time to put CIT training to use when someone is trying to run you down with a 2500lb. car.

  14. Was it Geezer hater? Haven’t seen any of his posts yet.

  15. I give a SHIT about this kid!!! MY DIAPER IS A-FULL!!!

  16. 8:57---Give it time but it is growing rather tiresome which no doubt is it's intent.

  17. The officer had to make a decision; step back out of the way of the car or shoot the driver dead.

  18. Shoot first and ask question later. Hard to imagine the DA will buy that.

  19. Dumbass white homo Pozers , trying to run over the cops , what the hell to expect ?

  20. is this a call for more training of ALL officers, or training specific officers to deal with this sort of situation. i think it is the latter.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Plain to see a lot of people have never had to deal with a subject having some sort of a mental breakdown. You have no idea what they will do. Appears the person and no I'm not going to say child like a lot of others are because he wasn't a child. Any way appears the person was on a mission of sorts what it was who knows but to me appears they wanted to get away from the officers and didn't care who they hurt doing so and in my book that makes that person a very dangerous subject.

I'm sure a host of lawyers like Lynne have all lined up knocking on the door to represent the family in some kind of bullshit attempt to sue the city.

  22. We would all feel different if the officer had jump out of the way and the young nutball drove off and ran over a family of gawkers two houses down the street.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Although no cop should allow himself to get killed by a nutty car driver the question is why call the cops to save a life when there has been no crime committed? Folks we are way past the day that police are social workers and firemen rescue your cat. If you need a mental health worker and call the police you need to understand that the police are crime and thug fighters and they have tunnel vision in that aspect. If you want empathy and caring keep your dick skinners off those 911 buttons. Cops can be twice as crazy as the nut you are dealing with.

  24. Exactly, you want Judge Judy or Dr. Phil ?

    ReplyDelete
  25. WORD......call the cops and chances are real good YOU are going to get shot. They are trigger happy. Best advice....stay as far away from cops as possible. Betting that 75% of cops have a screw loose.
