KCI project reveals unions' failure to include minority-owned firms

Long-simmering tensions between construction trade unions and the minority community have surfaced as both groups seek contracts for the airport project.

  1. I used to be in the Ironworkers union Local 10 and we had lots of black members. I can't speak to the other unions but we had lots.

  2. Unions were created in the post slavery years to ensure white men could still find work. The former slaves were much more skilled than them and worked for lower wages. Instead of advocating for all those skilled workers to get better wages, whites did what they always do and advocated solely for themselves and specifically for the exclusion of anyone else. So yes, unions still have very low minority participation but it's by design.

  4. More race baiting from the wrag newspaper, why don’t they admit that blacks choose not to work and why, because the gubmint pays more for them to sleep all day and party all night

  5. The star has a bad reputation, and I wouldn't believe anything they print. Good for only Sunday's coupons at a $1.00 price. There's no money in newspapers anymore so they have to shake it up to get readers, and/or brag about their Harvard grads to put lipstick on a pig.

  6. Minority and women busineses cannot afford to be unionized. The unions just need to get a life and be thankful with what they have been offered. 100% union on Airport project would drive cost to un affordable and could kill the whole deal.

  8. I thought Missouri was a right to state? Why are the unions demanding to be involved so heavily in the process??

  9. Bullshit hit job on Unions. It is not the Unions' fault that minority owned businesses are not unionized. If these minority owned businesses want union work then let your workers unionize, but they won't because they do not want to their workers decent wages and benefits.

  10. Democrat greedy union slobs and Democrat Affirmative Action scammers not playing well together.
