COUNCIL DUDE AND MAYORAL CANDIDATE JERMAINE REED LAUNCHES EXPANDED 'BAN THE BOX' ORDINANCE AGAINST LOCAL EMPLOYERS & LANDLORDS!!! HOW SHOULD KANSAS CITY REACT TO 'RESTORATIVE JUSTICE' LEGISLATION FOR FELONS???
In a remarkable disincentive for locals to stay out of trouble, Councilman Jermaine Reed wants to restrict standard hiring questions in Kansas City and allow felons a virtually clean slate.
Take a look:
Fox4: ‘Ban the box’: Proposed KC ordinance would prevent employers, landlords from asking about felony charges
Deets:
Kansas City Councilman Jermaine Reed is proposing a new ordinance to “ban the box.” It would prevent employers and landlords in the city from having a box on applications that asks if you’ve had a felony conviction.
The city has “banned the box” since 2013 and said it’s been a big success. Employers can still do background checks, which could prevent someone from getting hired. But getting rid of the check box can help eliminate the stigma and prevent qualified candidates from getting hired just because of their criminal history.
“It’s on the employer to make the decision as to whether or not we hire this individual. But this eliminates one barrier for people in our community who want to return back and be very productive members of our community,” Reed said.
Here's a look at the council dude's tweet with Kansas City social justice warriors apparently celebrating the proposed ordinance . . .
Now . . .
IS THIS ONE OF THE MOST IRRESPONSIBLE ANTI-BUSINESS EFFORTS COUNCILMAN JERMAINE REED HAS EVER CONCOCTED??? OR IS HE RIGHT???
Back in 2013, local biz leaders didn't speak up against the City Hall effort to "ban the box" and were content to spoil the local government hiring pool . . . However, we expect OVERWHELMING push back on this effort that threatens to endanger workplaces in KCMO and hiring incredibly harder and perilous for local biz.
You decide . . .
He is mistaken if he thinks this will get him the job as Mayor.
ReplyDeleteMore squared isn't a political group. Most of them don't reside within the city limits. He's playing to a very small crowd and I'll be that most of his 3rd district constituents who actually own businesses might object to his ordinance.
One set of rules for small business while corporations get to play by their own rules and have more resources to screen out felons. Reed is just making life harder for the mom & pop employers.
Delete^^^ Actually, he's making life harder on his own people. With less information legally available to employers, they'll have to rely on their own stereotypes which may be wrong and would prevent an otherwise candidate from getting a job. He's literally promoting ignorance.
DeleteThanks for showing us how unqualified he is to be mayor. As if we couldn’t see that already.
ReplyDeleteHow should voters react?
ReplyDeleteMake sure that he never makes it past the primary in the mayoral election and tell the winner that an endorsement from Reed will cost them your vote. For this anti small business ordinance, he should never hold elected office again.
As usual, Progressives don't actually care about their constituents who obey the law. Endangering fellow citizens is a small price to pay for the emotional feel good SJW bullshit accolades you get when rapists, thieves and murderers are granted access into homes and business' where they can ply their skills on the vulnerable.
ReplyDelete"HEY!! LOOK AT ME!!!! I AM VIRTUOUS!!!!"
Forcing under the rule of law to require under penalty the acceptance of criminals into the midst of us all is just more Social Engineering Big Brother Bull Shit from Fascists and Progressives who rule over us all.
This is just dumb, a felon is a felon is a felon, how stupid is it to take away the check box when it will most likely be found on a back ground check. Why waste the employers time and money running an unnecessary background check. It still won’t help the murderous coloreds get employment. Reed, you an idiot
ReplyDeleteThe city has “banned the box” since 2013 and said it’s been a big success.
ReplyDeleteAnd we are suppose to buy that statement? Seems to me they make the same claims about the Folly Trolley.
The City jobs announcement go like this: Are you black, lazy, uncooperative, entitled, felonious and have absolutely no skills whatsoever? Apply now!
Delete+1,000,000,000 ^^^^^^^
DeleteThey should ask do you have a warrant on you
ReplyDeleteMuch ado about nothing. Most criminals prefer self employment of robbing, selling drugs, raping, car jacking and murder
ReplyDeleteAnother Killa City Win !
ReplyDeleteYep, more BLM bullshit. TV stations proclaiming KC lost Google HQ expansion due to transportation limitations, etc. Of course no suggestion Google was looking at KC's murders as well. Black/demorun cities all fucked up across the country.
ReplyDeleteToo early in AM. Sub Amazon for Google above. My bad.
ReplyDelete
ReplyDeleteI agree with 6:22 he will be making it hard on his own people. This man is NOT SMART.
Then how would you explain a 20 year gap in their employment history?
ReplyDeleteAHHH LIBERAL KILLA CITY
ReplyDeleteJust one more reason for employers to move out of KILLA city.Kansas here we come
ReplyDeleteMethinks Mr. Reed would do well to get someone to fix the water main breaks on 14th near Paseo
ReplyDeleteFirst time a violent ex con hurts a business patron or another tenant, this all blues up as the employer/landlord gets sued.
ReplyDeleteMore out of touch with reality BS from actual or prospective city 'leaders'. The only thing dumber is operating a business in KC paying taxes to finance the shit show.
ReplyDeleteNot sure the city can legally do this but even so it takes about 2 minutes to look on Casenet. About 1/3 of young black men have a felony record. Like an earlier poster said if you could somehow disallow letting an employer know about felonies wouldn't they just be inclined to not hire any young black men?
ReplyDeleteI would not have a problem hiring an ex felon for most jobs if they would look me in the eye, admit their mistakes and pledge to do a good job. But making a law that encourages a prospective employee to be less than truthful is wrong.
I would not have a problem hiring a felon but I would not hire a negro.
ReplyDeleteSo if I hire a Felon, I can't be sued if he assaults, robs, or rapes a customer?
ReplyDelete^^^^but you are in no power to hire anyone because you have no influence, power or pull. You are here on a blog at 8:43AM, so go sell that fantasy to somebody else goon,
ReplyDeleteIf you had to hire someone, and the applicants were a millenial. a negro or a retard, which would you choose?
ReplyDeleteThe retard, every time.
DeleteThe retard, then the millenial, Last but least, the negro, felon or not. Don’t need to know if he is a felon
DeleteThe millenials because it would be so fun to fire him on his first day for showing up 4 hours late
DeleteYou guys are wetting yourselves (per usual). Eliminating the question on an application does not preclude an employer from still doing a background check on a candidate.
ReplyDeleteThe dumb assertion that this could end up having a reverse impact on his community is a bad one as well. I can't imagine an employer who would stereotype a candidate as *maybe* a felon would have hired him if only that guy could have checked a box saying he wasnt a felon.
You guys get deliriously stupid whenever someone brings up black people. Its amazing.
Hey Poncho, hey Cisco! I'm with Stupid.
ReplyDeleteRE: HOW SHOULD KANSAS CITY REACT TO 'RESTORATIVE JUSTICE' LEGISLATION FOR FELONS???
ReplyDeleteJermaine Reed is NOT GERMANE to a serious discussion.
So-called "ban the box" efforts are an admission that many Blacks can't be responsible for themselves.
If that weren't bad enough, now these idiotic SJW Democrats seek to force broader society to pamper the criminally-inclined. It's the same philosophy that's now destroying much of Europe, and here in the metro is reflected in the spread of black crime into the suburbs.
Jermaine Reed is an IGNORANT fool.
Black unemployment is currently at the lowest level since 1972 The scum bag felons rarely look for jobs anyway because cash is king in the east side. Preaching to the choir of progressive libs is his only goal. “I be da best AAAA in KC”. Go back to Lawrence
ReplyDeleteWhy bother? If they're black you know they're felons.
ReplyDeleteNot that blacks ever apply for jobs. They dont.
^^Ditto with geezers. You see those crotchety bastards apply for a job(because they're all broke BTW) throw that bastard in the trash. I think we all agree, geezers are the worst. The absolute worst!
ReplyDeleteGeezer Hater^, already has several JOBS in the Barry BathHouses. He's a "shit shine boy", he "packs fudge", and his fave is "taking a knee to blow BBC!"
DeleteYeah right ass hole!!! Tell the man with the money that he has no right to protect it because you think felons should be shielded from their own past. I believe the responsibility for folks to keep their noses cleans rests with the nose owners dip shit. This is just typical thug boon logic. I'm sure the libtards will jump right up on that band wagon since it ain't their money at risk. The state already has procedures for pardoning and expunging. If the felons are too fucking lazy to get a job and file then screw them.
ReplyDeleteThe city still doesn’t hire felons! Lmao!
ReplyDeleteA great restaurant in KC by the name of Antons hires x-felons and they have been great employees. People deserve to be accepted back into society.
ReplyDeleteI will agree with this... Reed is unqualified to be anywhere close to the city counsel and is a menace to the city.
fuck u u dumb assholes. Do u want them all to collect unemployment. They have paid their dues by being in prison, they do not need u equally amoral fucks to assume they will rape someone. They have a record, the law has the record in their possession. IF they commit another crime, their past record will be considered in sentencing. EMPLOYMENT PREVENTS RECIDIVISM. Altho now that private prisons have been made into an economic engine for ghoulish overlords, they want folks to go back to jail. Most of these commentssound like fcks hired by cca corrections
ReplyDeletethe T&A tony posts R pathetic
ReplyDeleteI am unclear, does tony got the right legs to get him raped by a woman.
ReplyDeleteIt is clearly racist not to hire lots of felons, especially when you consider that 25 percent of the adult black population are convicted felons. So lets rationalize hiring criminals and make sure they vote with the libtards. To really make the program work lets make the folks in town with the money foot the bills for this shit. Then the lawyers can sue them when their employees commit crimes against other citizens. After all people who work their assess off to build a business are likely conservatives.
ReplyDeleteI say a felon deserves a 2nd chance and it is the moral thing to hire this person. The City Counsel should not get involved with this social engineering experiment. Reed is a menace to have on the City Counsel and should never been elected in the first place.
ReplyDeleteReed is a menace to have on the Counsel. The State should come in and take over the governing responsibilities of the City immediately.
