TKC FRIDAY QUESTION: WILL ILLEGAL KICKBACK ALLEGATIONS AGAINST MIKE SANDERS HURT MISSOURI DEMOCRATIC PARTY LADY POLITICAL FRIENDS???

Not so long ago Mike Sanders had a great many friends among the denizens of the Missouri Democratic Party. Sadly, after recent allegations of an illegal campaign donation kickback scheme, there wasn't a single tweet, comment or message in his defense from so many people who he helped to put into office. To be fair, loyalty has never been the strength of the local elite.

However . . .

JACKSON COUNTY INSIDERS WARN THAT ALLEGATIONS AGAINST MIKE SANDERS ALSO THREATEN MANY MISSOURI DEMOCRATIC PARTY LADIES!!!

One example that busts out to us . . .

The questionable "Integrity in Law Enforcement" fund that was implicated in the alleged campaign finance shenanigans of Mike Sanders was ALSO listed as substantial donor to Independence, MO Mayor Eileen Weir in her unlikely rise to power.

She was a political nobody at the time of her election and she squeezed into her position as only the second woman to hold power Meth Town based largely on the campaign endorsement of Mike Sanders.

So far Mayor Weir hasn't made any statement on allegations against her mentor and JaxCo insiders seriously doubt if she'll be returning his calls any time soon.

But the implications go even further . . .

OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY QUESTIONS IF MISSOURI SEN. CLAIRE McCASKILL WILL SUFFER DAMAGE FROM HER MISSOURI POLITICAL ALLIANCE WITH MIKE SANDERS?!?!

Sen. McCaskill was Mike's mentor in his various roles at the Courthouse and she also played a big part in the decision to place him as the leader of the Missouri Democratic Party.

Worse still . . . The political alliance betwixt Sen. McCaskill & County Exec Mike Sanders helped facilitate the rise of Jackson County "girl power" with legislators like Crystal Williams and Theresa Garza promoted behind the scenes by the former County Exec as part of an effort to "empower" female elected officials - A cause championed by Sen. McCaskill.

And again, it's worth repeating that NONE of these political ladies has shown much recent support for the dude who helped them over the years.

In politics as in life: The loyalty of overly ambitious women disappears at the first sign of trouble.

Still, voters have a strange way of remembering these associations which should give progressives across The Show-Me State cause for concern going into 2018 Midterm election season.

Developing . . .

  1. One of many reasons McCaskill faces defeat. She better hope that Hawley sticks his foot in his mouth like Akin did. That is her only key to victory.

    3. You're leaving out the fact Sanders handpicked Frank White to replace him as County Executive and then Frank gift wrapped a $60,000 consulting contract to Sanders. Other than that and the fact he's been a complete cluster fuck as Executive, then, yes, Frank White doesn't look so bad.

    4. Frank Whote did not award that contract Dan Tarwater and Dennis Waits did.

  2. Let's not forget the dude Sanders "worked behind the scenes" to make Jackson County Executive, the utterly unqualified Frank White. That $60K consulting contract Sanders got from the county after he resigned as exec and Frank replaced him looks more and more like a kickback.

  3. Jackson County Democrats Thank County Executive Mike Sanders for Many Years of Service

Kansas City, MO – Jackson County Executive Mike Sanders will resign Dec. 31st. Sanders cited spending more time with his family as the reason for his resignation. Tom Wyrsch, Chairman of the Jackson County Democratic Committee, released the following statement:

“I am deeply grateful for the many years Executive Mike Sanders has served Jackson County, as well as the Democratic Party. Mike has diligently served Jackson County since 2002, first as Prosecutor and then County Executive. Among many successes and accomplishments, Mike has ensured that our County has had financial stability and success, and he spearheaded conversations about needed transportation proposals. He was also a strong leader as Chairman of the Missouri Democratic Party, and has been a tireless supporter of our local Jackson County Democratic Committee. On behalf of the Jackson County Democratic Committee, we give a heartfelt thanks to County Executive Mike Sanders for all he has done over his more than decade long leadership. We wish Mike, Georgia, and their sons and family the most happiness as they begin the next phase of their journey.”

  5. @ 7:58 I never bought that shit Frank White was selling about not knowing about that contract. There's a reason Sanders wanted an ex-jock replacing him instead of somebody who knew all the ins and outs of Jackson County Government. Frank White is only in it for the money, just like Sanders.

    1. I remember one of the county legislators calling BS on that contract Sanders got and wanting anyone who played a part in it fired. Frank White just look like a deer in the headlights.

  6. Mike Sanders was so full of himself as county executive, always talking a 100 words a second and never listening. This scheme is probably just the tip of the iceberg. Let's take a closer look at the Rock Island deal, the money the county spent on Independence Square helping the property values of the guy who gave Sanders his new half-million dollar gig, the strings Sanders pulled to make Frank White county executive and Robbie Makinen CEO of the transit authority.

  7. I don't know but you sure missed this story buddy! Your fucked up spin can't cover up that.

  8. Sanders used to tell the county employees do more with less. All the while he expanded the executive staff to include more administrators, chiefs, deputy chiefs, assistant deputy chiefs, assistants to the assistant deputies...

  12. COMPLICIT GUILT BY ASSOCIATION

McAssKill - though she was going to lose anyway, this puts another nail in her political coffin.

Frank White - aided and abetted Sanders transition out of office.

Scott Taylor's run for KC Mayor - Taylor's wife, Cathy Jolly, was a Sanders insider and getting a lucrative consulting contract for a do-nothing job. Scott has already scrubbed his KCMO.org page of her mention.

Humphrey, Farrington, McClain, P.C. - the law firm that took in Sanders after his "hobo in the night departure from the County" now has a credibility issue.

Independence - the city of Independence takes another hit as the biggest political corruption nest, aside from KCMO.

KCPT - the local PBS station is revealed as the place where disgraced politicians are welcome guests.

  15. Mike Sanders, Ken McClain, & Eileen Weir: Working hard to make Independence politics and government as corrupt as possible! Look for more to come! Eileen and Ken ought to lawyer up real quick.

  16. Sorry, but this looks pretty petty unless it's part of a pattern.

  17. 10:01 very doubtful this is all there is to it. I think Sanders, McClain, Weir and Frank White will all wind up with a lot of explaining to do.

  18. Citizens will have to clean up the mess at teh voting booth. The on;y time a political party actually goes teh integrity route against anyone is when they got in the way of some key player's agenda. Good luck holding your breath waiting for these redneck shit heels to put down their Old Milwaukee long enough to accomplish anything.

  19. Weir was elected High School Homecoming Queen and then elected Mayor of Independence where some of the worse financial decisions were made in the 180 years of the City Of Independence. Weir never had a political career in the first place.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I knew Sanders when he was an assistant Prosecutor handling the Independence beat.

If you weren't one of the little in group of Independence Lawyers you were treated like shit.

I am not surprised at this. It explains what was going on at the time.

    Ain't it a bitch, Mike?

  21. If Sanders went to prison it wouldn't matter. They're Democrats, they're expected to be crooks and shady dealers. Their voting base would vote for Qaddafi he he promised free shit for lazy asses who neither work or pay taxes.

  25. How long have the Jackson County Jail problems been ignored?
Mike Sanders resigned in the night and his buddy Todd Graves is given a contract to investigate the jail. Obviously, Graves was paid to cover-up the jail scandal and protect Sanders. The amount paid has been kept from the public. If a report exists, the content has been kept from the public.
Todd Graves was removed as U.S. Attorney for improprieties and Mike Sanders influences the County Exec to give him a pay-off to protect Sanders.
Todays reveal of corruption is only tip-of-the iceberg for Graves and Sanders corruption.

  42. Lee Judge was a hack from day one. His poorly drawn political cartoons had the subtlety of a sledgehammer. If he ever once varied from Democratic Party talking points, I do not remember it. He is Mary Sanchez with a drafting table.

  43. My new favorite person is @bballkansas on twitter. He had the best post calling Barb Shelley out. "Barb you knew how corrupt Sanders was as many fellow dems did, yet you kissed his ass on the star editorial board, then you have the audacity to act like its a great thing with this story and you take a victory lap."

@bballkansas you called it so right! Then this hack Barb says "well if we knew about these payments we would have reported." Really? You no-talent, Mike Sanders loving, non objective hack! Sanders had so many more scandals over the years but YOU ignored them, That's the fact. So do no act like now you are some sort of news reporter. #barbsucks

    ReplyDelete
  46. Eileen Weir and Mike Sanders are so close that they coordinate all of their campaigns together. I will not vote for her and I will lead the charge for her recall if she wins. She had poor judgment to be with Sanders so of course she can't be effective for the city!

    ReplyDelete
  47. This will end up pulling in City Hall. Mr and Mrs Cathy Jolly did not move without Mike Sanders and Steve Glorioso telling them what to do. Steve is dead and Mike is going to jail. Will you go too? You can send all of those contributions back now, Mr Jolly.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Cathy Jolly had a big falling out with Sanders because she wouldn't lie for him to the FBI. Robbie Makinen used to call her a bitch because she wouldn't take a bullet for Sanders.
