TKC EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! BAIT AND SWITCH: CITY HALL CONFRONTS LAWSUIT THREATS AMID #BETTERKCI VOTE BROKEN PROMISES FOR NEW KANSAS CITY AIRPORT!!!

By way of a litany of disingenuous campaign promises and shady backroom deals, Mayor Sly James is navigating a path toward EPIC City Hall courtroom battles over the airport.

First up . . .

INSIDERS FEAR EDGEMOOR LAWSUITS AGAINST CITY HALL, AECOM AND BURNS & MAC FOR HOW THIS DIRTY MOU DEAL IS GOING DOWN!!!

While MSM is playing stenographer and covering rigged hometown press conferences like they're "news"  . . .

The real story according to TKC TIPSTERS is that investigation into legal options in this bidding process is already underway.

Now, lawyers on all sides of this equation can and will make their case - But from a VOTER'S PERSPECTIVE - The legal drama now threatening City Hall is the direct result of a poorly-planned vote that lacked proper details promoted by Mayor Sly James.

To be fair, most people watching this hot mess already understand that there's no way KCMO isn't getting out of this new airport nightmare without settling a major lawsuit. However . . . The shady tactics of Mayor Sly for the benefit of campaign backers are already the subject of inquiry.

Now, to more urgent matters . . .

THE 35% MBE/WBE KANSAS CITY NEW AIRPORT HIRING PROMISE IS NOTHING MORE THAN AN URBAN LEGEND!!!

There are lots of good intentions here but EVEN KCMO MINORITY HIRING EXPERTS have made themselves clear on this issue . . . A quote that we've seen from the press in the 3rd District:

"Without a massive training, education and apprenticeship program. There is simply not enough capacity in Kansas City's minority community to supply 35% of the labor & contracting on a billion dollar project. If every minority and female owned firm in the metro started working on the new airport, they still wouldn't have enough people. Edgemoor has the best plan to try to achieve the number - AECOM/Burns & Mac and the Unions are basically hostile to this effort. 35% is not going to happen, it was never going to happen."

Reality - KC has often made similar promises on MBE/WBE hiring and they NEVER hold true.

Next up . . .

KANSAS CITY VOTERS WILL PAY HEAVILY FOR THE NEW AIRPORT!!!

Here's a fun quote from a source familiar from with the MOU debate:

"Most City Council members and Team Sly backers have not read and don't understand how the airport will be financed. I've talked to them. They're taking their cues from Troy's office and they've never been forthright about hidden costs."

Like it or not, whether in court fees or other contingencies . . . KCMO Taxpayers will be picking up a BIG CHUNK of the tab on this project and anyone who believes or says otherwise is being willfully ignorant or duplicitous.

And so . . .

Two things are certain amid this #BetterKCI brouhaha . . .

1. Kansas City will end up in court no matter who wins or loses the new airport bidding because of the haphazard vote and terms promoted by Mayor Sly.

2. Already . . . NONE of the #BetterKCI campaign promises are holding up to scrutiny and the rigged vote was nothing more than pie in the sky served up by Mayor Sly.

Developing . . .

KC already owes Edgemoor about a million for the campaign. What KC voted on isn't worth the paper on which the ballots were printed. That's the real story that you mentioned but need to highlight TKC.

$20 million settlement on this minimum.

What strikes me funny is that we're going to have to go back to the ballot on this anyway in order to approve the bonds to fund the new airport. If City Hall was smart, they would figure out a way to let the public vote for a plan instead of all the conflicts that regularly come in to play when Council members decide to get into the bidding process.

Agree that there will be A LOT to litigate here.

Here is your news Tony - The council needs to find an independent auditor to recommend the bid. Nobody trusts city council to do this. They had their chance and screwed it up. Now we're almost back to square one.

OF COURSE KC is going to lose money on this and taxpayers were going to pick up the bill. Right from the first no bid proposal with burns and mcDonell, this thing stunk to high heaven.

Where are Reardon, Rose, Kraske and Helling, the Four Pimps from Kansas who were Sly’s front men on this?

If there's a movie about the mayor and the council it should be called Dumb and Dumber.

But, but, but... the mayor and his mini-me Jolie promised us the airlines would pay for everything and it wouldn't cost us a cent.

Looks like CFRG ( Citizens for Responsible Government ) got it right from the beginning! We voted to give permission to blow up the airport we have with no plan on what to replace it with. Our City Leaders are the laughing stock of the country once again.

Our “esteemed” business leaders all were on board.- freakin dopes.
Joe Reardon pranced around town pimping about how great this was going to be.
He’s either a crook or a complete dope. I’m leaning towards dope.

This whole thing is like the little boy who saw a pile of horse crap, but just knew there had to be a pony in there somewhere.
There may be an intelligent thoughtful plan to consider updating the MCI terminal in here somewhere.
But it sure is hard to find and not getting any easier.
What an embarrassing bunch of clowns!

This thing boils down to less public safety because of the lawsuits. That’s awesome!!! Nice job by the council and mayor on this. If Edgemoor has already spent money and people are on record from the city talked g about bad faith bargaining it would appear the best course of action is to get back to bargaining and see if a deal can be struck. If not, see if Burns will pay the city’s legal fees.

Months and months, millions and more millions and Kansas City still has that 40 year old falling down airport. And nobody will bring their conventions to the City. But we got an empty taxpayer funded 800 bed hotel to speak for.

As a lifelong resident of this half-horse town, I still can't believe that the voters bought the idea of a new airport that will be paid for by the airlines. And some folks still believe that the airlines will pull out of KC if we don't give them a new airport. My question is: If the airlines are paying for it, why don't they have a seat at the table regarding the design, etc? Because they are NOT paying one stinking dime. And, they aren't going to pull flights as long as they can pull their planes in, load and unload passengers.

What a bunch of fools the voters are. Get your checkbooks out and be ready to pay, pay, pay.

Bow tie the clown only read the part where he gets paid under the table

Agree with @ 12:16, but he or she doesn't specify which half of the horse!
But then I guess they don't need to, we can all figure that our for ourselves, can't we?

But isn't it really all pretty simple? Airlines are in business to make a profit. If an Airline can make enough money by picking up people in Kansas City and flying them to someplace else, then flying them back, it will, period. Aside from a few government mandated requirements (safety, ADA access, etc.) no Airline cares if they pick up those people from a brand new "Sparkly Place" or a Rusty tin Butler Pole Barn in a field. Pick them up, fly them there, bring them back, and get paid for it. All else is embroidery.

So all of the hootenanny we have been going through is about bribes to be paid and egos to be inflated.

City Image? Look around, we're Kansas City, we have no image.
Airlines will add/cut flights? Only as they can/cannot make a buck.
Convenience/conveniences? Not an issue, "on the Plane, off the Plane.

Now the council members all have favorite ponies in the race, wonderful. A cluster brought to you by the "machine" that is requiring everyone to kiss Sly's ring, or if they don't do stupid they have betrayed something. Sly betrayed integrity and best practices.

When this is over the City owes all the vendors and citizens an apology for the cluster that has anything but a certain outstanding result as a clear outcome. But don't ask Troy about his private pond. Washington needs Sly like, well they don't need him at all. We want to hear all about transparency from the Star now.

‘You can’t lead people you can’t trust’ Slie James

Who the hell in their right mind would want to be led by an ambulance chaser?

The 35% applies only to the amount of construction work to be done by minority or women-owned businesses. It has nothing to do with the hours of work to be done by minority and femaler workers on the project. That combined goal amount is around 19% (the city requires 10% minority and 2% female). You’re mixing apples and oranges.

If airlines were permitted to load us in a cattle chute, and pack us in standing up with about 2 sq. ft. per person; they would. Why do people think airlines used to keep planes sitting out on the tarmac for hours and days on end? Not because they "had to", because they didn't want to have to pay the additional airport fees to let people back off. Airlines are skinflint in the worst sort of way.

Bow tie sLIE don’t care if we get sued, it ain’t his money and besides, he doesn’t own anything in killa city so he doesn’t have to pay taxes on anything other than his paycheck

Anonymous said...

Oh the big bow tie does not want to be sued. Why well it ain’t cause he’s worried about taxpayers being on the hook for the payout. Nope it’s a biggey. He, Troy, Jolie and his cronies don’t want to get deposed in a trial.
Now that would be fun. Then we’d have a hell of a lot of information about what really is going on.

I used to be be a union ironworker. There are few true minority owned companies. I worked for a couple of minority owned rebar companies. They are minority owned but here's the thing, almost all of their guys that ran work are white guys. The foreman were almost all white and it was simply a business decision for the owners. The owners needed jobs ran right and on time. Some of you might not like reading this but yes, the black owners hired almost all white people because it was better for their company. And yes, there are plenty of black people in the ironworkers so you can't say they only had white people to choose from.
