TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! NEW PITCH OWNERS ARE LOCAL KANSAS CITY MARKETING DWEEBS AND PLANNING ADVERTORIAL GAMBIT!!!

Quick follow-up on a story that has let impact that Kansas City news addicts would like to believe . . .
First up . . .
THE NEW PITCH OWNERS ARE PLANNING AN ADVERTORIAL PLOY TO SAVE THE DYING PRINT RAG THAT COMPLETELY LOST ITS RELEVANCE OVER THE COURSE OF 2017!!!
Turns out, talking up Democratic Party talking points didn't play the bills and now a pair of local advertising gurus have garnered the paper and want to turn it into their vanity press to impress clients with a deluxe and glorified circular.
Friday night, ousted editor Scott "Nicest Guy In The World" Wilson offered his take on the future of the "alt." paper that nobody under 40 cares about . . .
Pitch editor departs, Pitch about to improve
DAVID HUDNALL WILL BE THE NEW EDITOR . . . BUT HE'S WORKING WITH FEWER RESOURCES THAN THE PITCH HAS EVER SEEN!!!
Before we get too excited about promises . . . Remember that earlier this year Mr. Wilson told us about the great glossy future of The Pitch . . . Until that plan flopped and SouthComm sold off its loses.
Again, the impact of this journalism move might not resonate much in Kansas City given that social media chatter from emotionally unstable friends & loved ones has mostly replaced what used to be the local news-cycle.
You decide . . .
Better title: Rich kids need a new toy.
ReplyDeleteIt should be fun but won't last long when the get the bill and can't really justify the return on investment.
^^^ Totally wrong. With only 4 full time staffers, they'll be able to hold out for at least 4 years.
DeleteReally sad. The Pitch was a great paper at one point, they were completely mismanaged. Looks like things aren't going to change much.
DeleteBring back online personals and classifieds!
ReplyDeleteMe thinks even Don Draper wouldn't be able to save that mess.
ReplyDeleteChristina Hendricks has a couple of tricks up her sleeves that could save it.
ReplyDeleteThe Pitch went into the crapper when it was sold to an out-of-town conglomerate. It shouldn't be too hard for local control to turn it around again if they try seriously.
ReplyDeleteHell, we may well see the Pitch outlast the Star, McClatchey is in a serious revenue crunch and the Star has been on life support for four years at least.
Too bad The Pitch covered alot of stories you'd never find in the Star. Looked forward to reading it each week - going monthly was a death blow.
ReplyDeleteApparently they have a web site that is updated more than monthly?
ReplyDelete^^^ Not really. Not anymore.
ReplyDeleteWill they still keep the national faggot Savage and his weekly article about how to peg underage Taiwanese he/shes?
ReplyDeleteSee! The new internetz economy is liftin everyones boat just like they said it would!
ReplyDeleteNow how am I going to find out about what hot rock and roll bands are playing around town?
ReplyDeleteUse the Pitch to start the fire under the wreckage of Westport.
ReplyDeleteThe Penny Saver will last longer than the Pitch.
ReplyDelete9:24---Up her sleeve????? You're lookin' at her arms????? What the hell is wrong with you son???? Oh pshaw. Thought you were raised better.
ReplyDelete10:38: Dan Savage and Charles Ferruzza were the only reasons to read the Pitch regularly (although they did have the occasional really interesting article). They got rid of both Ferruzza and Dan Savage, which is probably the reason they're in deep doo doo now.
ReplyDeleteDid Savage and Charles buttfuck each other?
DeleteThey had a great run and some real highlights. But the game is different now and KC already has too many similar magazines to take hold. Feast is supported by a lot of restaurants and bars, if the new pitch is going to be successful. They will have to compete and rebuild their base and connections in this space.
ReplyDeleteI was always a fan of the Pitch until they allowed washed up, no talent Barb Shelly espouse her crap. C'mon Pitch, there is a reason the Star got rid of her. She is just not any good. Hope they start with cleaning house of bad reporters like her.
ReplyDeleteBarb Shelley is not a reporter she is an opinion writer. All the reason to get rid of her because her opinions suck.
