TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! DONATIONS TO KANSAS CITY MAYOR'S CHRISTMAS TREE FUND DISAPPOINT!!!

This Christmas we witness the love for Mayor Sly James fading a bit if his ability to fund a good cause is any indication.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY INSIDERS LAMENT LOWER DONATIONS AND PARTICIPATION IN THE MAYOR'S CHRISTMAS TREE FUND!!!

Word sent our way that seems appropriate given the blessings that we should all be grateful for right now . . .

"The Mayor's Christmas Tree Fund was pathetic in 2017. There was very little support for our activities and it just seemed that nobody had the time for it in the middle of the election and so much airport nonsense underway. The most needy in Kansas City lost out and one of KC's greatest tradition has been virtually forgotten. This is a shame really because the program used to be much bigger and serve people all over the metro. This time around, we've seen the worst level of support since the Funkhouser era."

To be fair, nobody expects Mayor Sly to make time for charity work when he's trying to run damage control on a billion dollar airport deal that is crashing and burning.

While locals constantly tout Kansas City generosity . . . This time around, amid what we hear were disappointing sales for Mayor Sly's Charlie Hustle t-shirt, there's not a lot of love from locals for the less fortunate on display this Christmas.

You decide . . .

  1. Changing the focus was the big mistake, the fund was almost always directed toward seniors the disabled. We went to them and made sure they got the services they need. Helping students is a good idea but it's about getting them out. It's a change in strategy.

    1. What's funny is that a lot of "leaders" want to talk about the 2 million spent in the airport campaign but they didn't do anything for the christmas tree fund this year. The level of corruption is unbelievable but they all want to pretend that they're the good guy.

    2. The idea is nice but people in general aren't giving as much to charity this year, that's a big part of the problem. Look at all of the Salvation Army kettles that were unmanned this year. Money and donations are harder to come by.

    3. Many churches are seeing record donations.

  2. Appreciate news about non-profits and charities for Christmas TKC, but you might want to remind readers that they can donate all year long to this cause, it's not just for Christmas.

  3. Or remind them the social safety net has been ripped out and that is why we let people die like dogs on a bed of straw.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Try taking the word "Mayor's" out next year, that should help.
People want to believe that at least SOME of their money will get to the cause they're donating to.

  5. If it’s last minute money the fund needs- maybe ask Frank White for help.
He might know how to raise money at the last second.

And the fund could blow it on other stuff not connected to the house payment... I mean find.
And the KC Star could cover it... fairly... while laying off people...and adding to the editorial staff with competent people....who can bring people together and not be divisive.... with Mensa mentality...
...and the street car addition can truly be free... not charge a dime...and the airport can be built free... with no nonsense bids and over seen by bureaucrats who care about the public... while the Star oversees and endorses this and any and all taxes... that won’t cost a dime... while KC encourages companies to relocate employees to the city- where the Mayor must be working on a plan to reduce the murder rate- which the murder will all be solved soon- and any employees moving to KC will rejoice in paying the 1% earnings rate... for free trash bags.

Hope Santa visited you and was good to everyone!

  6. I think 6:53 is right, maybe if it wasn't the Mayor's Christmas tree more money would have been donated. Sly James isn't a very popular person.

Merry Christmas Tony, and everyone in K.C.

  7. This isn’t about donations. It is about this: Fuck you Sly you fat lard-ass lying cocksucker.

  8. 6:52, so the entire social safety net is gone? No more Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, welfare? Every news organization on the planet must be hiding that from us! And people are dying like dogs on a bed of straw? Do you mean the dead people are on beds of straw or the dead dogs are on beds of straw? Or both? One bright spot: surely the straw market is booming!

    What a maroon!

  10. sLIE is a worthless fat bastard who could care less about this city

  11. It's hard to believe that Charlie Hustle gear wasn't just flying off the shelves.

Maybe try a collabo with Peregrine next year?

Millennials love collabos, as it makes them feel even more special and precious than they already know they are.

  12. ^^^ now that’s funny right there!!!

    ReplyDelete
  13. Well what in the tarnation are needy people supposed to do with record albums?

    ReplyDelete
  14. The mayor has been a overwhelming disappointment with everything he does so why should this be any different

If you ask me the real hustle here was the shirt program. $40.00 for a shirt which 25% was to be donated to the Mayors fund. That's only 10 bucks per shirt and how much is ole Charlie putting into his pocket? A whole lot more I can tell you that. The only person winning this year from the Mayors Christmas Tree fund is Charlie Hustle and not the poor.

  16. Too many taxes in KCMO with more to come. The mayor has to pay for the streetcar, downtown hotel and now the airport. The voters have had enough!

  17. ^^^^+1000000

  18. Why blame Charlie hustle? The mayor agreed to it, put your blame on bow tie the clown where it belongs

  19. That's funny I heard it was over the top like usual.

Does Santa know you lie so much?

Guess there was no credibility under your tree huh

    1. Yeah, that is why you're reading a blog you HATE on Christmas morning. That must sting. Sorry about that, sorry Sly's people won't be giving you a visit because their t-shirts didn't sell.

    2. The mayor has forgotten Christmas. It might be the scotch or it could be that he is too concerned with his real bosses on the airport.

  20. The city could have used any one of its vendors to make these shirts and sold them for $25 and gave $20 to the fund, but no, Slick wanted someone he knew to profit so now he comes out and complains. Is it more about his friend not making enough money or the Xmas tree fund? I’m betting it’s not about the tree fund

    1. Excellent point ^^. KC missed an opportunity to help people instead of just promote the Mayor's brand.

  21. 11:13 sLIE is that you again? Only sLIE uses “over the top”, that expression died out in the nineties

    ReplyDelete
  22. Yep, 2:00pm, it's gotta be BowTie clown, over the top, at the circus in the Big Top, not gonna stop, til that big Scotch jug is drained to the last drop.

  23. Who pays for that huge tree shipped here and installed, that can't be cheap. Forty dollar shirts with just a small portion going to the fund sounds rather shyster to me.

The bigger question is when was the last time Mayor James took to the streets campaigning for anything that was truly for the good of those with in the city?

If the person that the fund is suppose to be about can't make time in his busy agenda to promote the fund why should anyone else really feel like they should either.

Be interesting to see what portions of the funds collected actually make it into the hands of those who need it. To many of these type fundraisers waste too much money on parties, publicity dinners and the like for those that are supposed to be overlooking how the money is spent.

  24. Hey, Magic Bow Tie is going to make Killa City all better. Didn't ya read that book?

    ReplyDelete
  25. That's the worst development in shirting since the Untuckit brand of shirts.

  26. The Taxpayers are still paying off the 500,000.00 we spent on the Police Chiefs overtime.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Take the money that was spent hauling a once-living tree halfway across the country and spend it on the needy. We can have Hallmark create a very nice fake tree that can be quite beautiful. No trees are killed. No money is wasted.
