TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY STAR REPORT ON EXEC FRANK WHITE FINANCES: NOTHING BURGER OR BEGINNING OF THE END???

First off, let's get this out of the way . . . TKC endorses neither Exec Frank White nor the Legislature.

The antics of County government in the midst of a human rights crisis at the jail have provided some laughs but mostly disappointment that a former baseball star has squandered his legacy.

Now . . .

As far as the report about the latest controversy confronting Frank White here are the two options:

1. The groundbreaking story will sweep Exec White out of office given devastating allegations of financial impropriety.

OR . . .

2. A mostly un-sourced Friday afternoon article published a few days before Christmas is really just a hack job that provides a glimpse of the growing vitriolic rhetoric behind the scenes but ultimately doesn't change the reality of a local government impasse that has been going strong for weeks.

Now . . .

Both sides of the issue:

The growing number of critics of Exec White believe a sketchy home loan brokered by lawyer buddies provides a reason for resignation, violates the Charter and should merit action from the Legislature.

On the other hand . . .

Team Frank doesn't seem too worried and maintains that all the home financing deals were above board and the Executive has an army of high-powered lawyers aligned with this firm ready to prove as much.

Meanwhile . . .

People who really know this situation believe that voters must look at the law firm at the center of this hot mess beyond Exec White's involvement - The firm pretty much owns most of Eastern Jack and hosts connections to all of the viable businesses throughout Independence, MO.

The reality is that this firm bills hundreds of millions of dollars every year and a few calls from it's top ranking members over the weekend have already scared Legislators away from pursuing this story line that may direct heat their way. Accordingly, a BIG LAW FIRM basically running Jackson County is the real story that has much more impact than the harsh times of rookie politicos.

To be fair, politicos are far more expendable than big law firms and Exec White is taking heat from these questions and hurting his nice guy branding.

Accordingly . . .

This post is merely an attempt to offer BOTH SIDES of this debate given  the sordid topic of Frank White home financing isn't so much news fact but only serves as a talking point which is widely open to interpretation as Courthouse politicos battle one another for control.

You decide . . .

  1. Not at all a nothing burger.

This is the end of Frank White's political career. He started with a great rep and good intentions. Now he's just plagued by scandals.

    To bad.

    1. The timing of the story was bunk. But Frank isn't out of the woods yet. He's got to answer to somebody about this, THAT is the real story.

Some real bad optics on this whole deal, I expect some real doubling down on the allegations, unless of course the whole thing turns out to be a nothing burger.

  4. Well Tony you ought to recognize a hack job when you see one.

    You've done so many.

  6. just some of the perks of being a politation

  7. 10:43 a.m. hit it square on the head - he was a baseball player with NO political or leadership experience. He won a popularity contest to the detriment of the position he now holds. Step down before you're booted out, Frank.

  8. @ 10:40 I don't think Frank's intentions were ever very good. The guy's a fraud. He needed that six-figure county exec salary desperately.

  9. 12:09 "Team Frank doesn't seem too worried" because they're counting on most people shrugging and saying this is just the perks of being a politician. Well, I, for one, am sick and tired of bullshit politicians serving themselves instead of serving the public.

  10. Dude's house is about to be auctioned off, then he has a secret meeting with politically connected money men and gets a "gift" that made his foreclosure problems go away. This is a great big SOMETHING BURGER!!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Let's say somehow all this "gift giving" is legal technically. But doesn't Frank have to be a major fuck up to have these kind of financial problems? If his pension is nine thousand a month, how the hell is he not able to keep up with his mortgage and property taxes on this house.

What I am saying is if he's not corrupt, he is definitely incompetent and should not be managing the county's finances.

  12. ^^^ Could be he is both incompetent and corrupt.

  13. Frank has acted like some holier than thou saint sent from heaven above to fix Jackson County Government. He's lectured and insulted. He's declared himself to be self-righteously above politics. All the while, he has been as low down as any other self-serving pol to detriment of the county.

  14. I am shocked to learn he was nearly destitute after he lost the Royals gig. He made very good money as a baseball player. He does not have the reputation of profligate spending on an entourage or anything else. What happened?

    ReplyDelete
  15. I say this is about to get interesting and just another reason to vote him out.

Frank doesn't know what he's doing and he's going to get himself in TROUBLE.

  16. How about the kaw firm? They got the old city hall for 1.00 50 year lease when mike sanders was county executive and denny waits was chairman of legislature.

There was a comoeteing better bid but magically ken mcclain got it.

He got land from city of independence for free to build tax subzodized town houses then pushed for a new farmers market and his son in law got the design contract.

He also got the water district law contract and sanders sits on the board.

Denny waits and ken mcclain were 2 of the 3 attorney supporting john carnes when he got his lucensce back to practice law from vernon scoville

  17. Frank got a "gift" to save his house. That needs some splaing.

Frank's house also appears to have been severely under-valued by the Jackson County Assessment Dept that he rules over. That artificially lowers his property tax bill. I don't know how anyone can explain that.

    ReplyDelete
  18. 7:33, we would know that for a fact only if similar houses in his neighborhood were assessed at significantly higher values.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Frank is black, so we can assume he has many non-working family members and relatives he has to support because black people obviously are lazy and don't work.

  20. Should a stopped at 2nd base Frank.
