  2. And number one for the worst public schools but most people don’t know because apparently they can’t read!

  3. And again a misleading Headline.
Kansas City Third Graders are NOT having reading proficiency problems!
Kansas City Third Graders in the KANSAS CITY, MISSOURI PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT are having problems with reading proficiency.

The North Kansas City School District has more Kansas City Third Grader than the KCMOPSD, and they aren't having problems at all.
The Charter Schools in KCMO have 2/3 the number of Third Graders, and they aren't having this problem.

With the Federal Court takeover of the KCMO Public School System in the 1970s, the District was converted from a system designed to educate into a system designed to SPEND MONEY!
The function of educating students was retained but given only token attention, and, with the collusion of the School Of Education of UMKC, ethnic background replaced ability as the primary reason for staffing. This is not to say that there are no excellently qualified educators or excellently performing students in the District's schools, but they are incidental, and almost accidental to the primary goal of the District's operations. The result is that and Teachers who CAN get jobs in another School District do so, and only the least qualified stay behind.

The Administration of the KCMOPSD is disinterested in the education function, their own interest, understandably, is in drawing generous salaries until such time as they can move on too.

The evident solution is dissolution of the District, but any mention of this immediately calls on screams of Racism! Until such time as the Courts are willing to step in and correct the situation, this School District will continue blindly stumbling along, leaving a tragic wake of underserved and destroyed young people behind.

  4. 7:01 FTW. Judge Clark, from purgatory, is apologizing for illegally forcing the district to raise my taxes to fund shit like the "Paul Robeson Middle School for Classical Studies." Great to name it after a Stalinist sympathizer.
