While not specifically Kansas City related, a clip of a dude gunned down in cold blood has consequences for the entire country and it would be unwise to ignore.
TKC hot take . . .
LIKE IT OR NOT: THE OVERLY COMPLICATED ORDERS AND DEADLY FORCE SEEN IN RECENT MSM VIDEO HAVE SERIOUSLY DAMAGED PERCEPTION OF ALL POLICE THROUGHOUT THE NATION!!!
Trolls and propagandists might defend the tactics but the narrative plays right into the hands of the most strident police critics.
Further considerations . . .
- The shooting victim was young, white and unarmed. Progressive activists have seized upon these facts to create allegiance with groups the Black Lives Matter movement. This clip might actually reinvigorate a movement that was declining.
- This wasn't a model cop, he was later dismissed from his job, reportedly for "unsatisfactory performance."
- The clip is terrifying because anybody with even a shred of dignity would be unable to follow the confusing instructions of the officer and in the so-called "land of the free" getting killed for trying to pull up your pants is a horrific prospect.
Part of the motive in posting in this is simply a matter of curiosity as to any defense of this deadly action that isn't overtly repugnant to most people with common sense.
Don't get it twisted, TKC supports police and understands that their job is one of the most dangerous professions imaginable . . . But, killing a dude as he sobs and begs for his life isn't a good look and something that UNDENIABLY erodes the public trust.
Smart police public relations people across the nation would do well to try and offset the damage this clip is doing but instead we can only expect more culture war slap fighting that attempts to draw a line in the sand and plays to growing American political tribalism rather than attempting to create greater understanding betwixt 1st responders and the communities they serve.

Last word . . . Again, like it or not, this news will only serve to inspire the national and local effort to enact more oversight and sanctions against police.
You decide . . .
Police work isn't pretty. Most people will never understand that or refuse to understand it.
ReplyDeleteNo excuse for this. I don't care what kind of job it is to be a cop. Cop was looking for an excuse to execute someone and he found one. How a jury let this guy walk is beyond me.
ReplyDeleteMercy that was a hard one to call. In this case I have to side with the officers since there was more than one in the hall. But they were responding to an armed subject call and no doubt they were jacked on adrenaline. Till I read the whole story I saw the video first and thought what was all the strict yelling and so forth about. Upon learning this guy was pointing what was thought to be a gun out the window of the hotel I now understand more the way that the officers were handling the issue. You do notice that none of the other officers were trying to lets say change the route the incident took. In the video I thought the guy was reaching for the handbag either way the victim should have acted more like his girlfriend and done as he was told. This isn't a bad shooting and it wasn't a good shooting. It was the case of an idiot playing with a pellet gun no doubt trying to impress some chick he probably or maybe not picked up in a bar? His actions that created an incident in the end is what got him killed. Officers responding were looking for someone with a gun and found that person and the end while tragic isn't too hard to not see it ending this way.
ReplyDeleteKid should have done what he was told to do. If that kid was black, we would have riots. That would mean lots of chances to kill as many hood rats as possible.
ReplyDeleteBLM won't care. Doesn't fit the branding.
ReplyDeleteOh well,
ReplyDeleteHe'll get his some day
The fucking pos cop that is
I can’t believe that they didn’t go to him while he was on the ground, that poor kid was scared to death. That was the worst bit of police work I’ve ever seen, what exactly was the police there for in the first place??? Why the ar15’s?
ReplyDeleteThe real new American flag is a Punisher decal.
ReplyDeleteThe Police are state-sanctioned murderers.
ReplyDeleteHe must be the son of the cop that arrested the nurse doing her job.
ReplyDeleteThis is exactly why people mistrust cops.
The new police state, jacked up thugs with chips on their shoulders and itchy trigger fingers. Unprofessional, unintelligent, and unfit for public SERVICE... and the problems come from the top. Read the article, there's a picture of his department-issued AR with "You're Fucked" engraved on the ejection port cover... yeah, that's a department that professionally serves the public that pays them.
ReplyDeletePolice departments everywhere have an enormous challenge, and it begins in the hiring and training of officers. If the departments aren't doing a thorough job of selecting candidates who can keep a cool head under pressure and display sterling judgment, they're heading for this kind of trouble. If the training doesn't reveal weak candidates and give the best candidates strong emotional and intellectual tools, there's another opportunity to fail. Such missteps endanger not only the public, but the great officers who do exactly the right thing every day. Some people should never have life-or-death authority, and those competent people who do should be far better compensated.
ReplyDeleteWe have a serious issue here. First the officers got a call of a gun slinger in a room, presumably the room the occupants were in. Not one thing was done to validate the caller or the information, nor was there any type of on scene evaluation done before attempting to make entry. Second the two people who were in the room both informed the officers that there were no firearms involved. Third the officers should have searched the male and female in place. The could have been ordered to their knees and there is not a fucking thing to indicate there was a continued threat. All that needed to be done was a cursory frisk to insure the couple had no firearms. Please remember that in Arizona there is no requirement for CCW so even if someone had a weapon, short of being a felon, it would have been perfectly legal and normal. In fact it would have been perfectly legal to open carry, to have the gun in a hotel room in your hand or in the open. In effect the officer was acting on little more than hearsay or rumor, there was no complainant and other that a single call (that clearly was not credible).
ReplyDeleteIt is also clear, after watching this video about 20 times, that this officer should have never been commissioned and my shrink friend opines that this officer appears to have been looking for an excuse to kill. Although I am no shrink I have to agree. Listen carefully to the words prior to the shoot and it is almost as if the officer was rationalizing his killing ahead of the act. You must also wonder how an officer, not part of a swat team, pulls out his tactical gear and an AR-15 on a call that has no even been verified and no shots have been fired. If the scene had been properly evaluated then even if a threat had been perceived the normal procedure would have been to wait for ample back up before even attempting an entry. There is plenty information in the Arizona media to indicate this officer was a few cards short of a deck. Now ponder how much shit it takes to fire any police officer and wonder why he was fired if there was even a question as to whether this officer acted appropriately.
I think the radical nutballs who hate cops were just handed a Christmas present courtesy of a wacked officer. That tattooed up as hole should have never been allowed on the job.
I hope this pos gets his ass sued for wrongful death, thats just awful and I’m all for the police, but this.........
ReplyDeleteKCPD is number 3 in killer cops.
ReplyDeleteDave shoots and scores again!
ReplyDelete11:57 the other officer there had a so called tactical gun in his hands. they didn't know what they had and were taking no chances. Easy for a douchebag like you to judge the nature of the call while minus a lot of the facts. 20 times my ass, you're a liar. I'd like to send you through a ATS - Active Target Shooting™ System and see how many times you either die or mess up.
ReplyDelete1:35 You obviously are a wound up too tight cop. That's the second worst police officer involved shooting I've ever seen, piss poor judgement of a never should have been cop. This should never have got to that point, all those idiots combined couldn't handle a kid, they could have at anytime went to him and handcuffed him on the floor but no, i can't believe you would defend such cowardly work by this idiot. for the record I fully support the police. This was not righteous and you know it
ReplyDeleteKCPD sucks.
ReplyDeleteI taught firearms and use of force to law enforcement for 25 years.
ReplyDeleteThe call was on a subject brandishing a gun- illegal regardless of CCW laws. The guy crawling down the hall reached for his waistband- you can see this elbow come up as he does. Whereupon he volunteers to get his ass shot off by the police.
Tough shit- next case.
Murderer Cops, this why people hate the police.
ReplyDeleteThis is also why no one will talk to cops, their heads are too hard.
Cops cannot be trusted. Period.
IF THEY WEREN'T COPS MANY WOULD BE IN JAIL.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger I knew many that wanted to be cops some were not the sharpest knife in the drawer. .And I know a few retired cops that was sharp. And they will tell you there are many that are high strung ..hot dogs cops. .
ReplyDelete3:58 tough shit, your wrong. These ain’t the golden olden days anymore, if they had video back then your ass would have been in jail!
ReplyDeleteUnbelievable to me that we have American citizens defending this cop’s actions. Of course we support the police. Of course they have a very difficult job. Those points don’t inoculate all police actions from criticism. The way he was immediately confrontational, profane, and threatening to shoot obviously compliant FREE citizens is disturbing. I can see acting that way to an escaped felon, or a known violent criminal, but these were “regular” citizens. There’s no question that he should have been convicted and jailed. The public rightly fears scumbags like this cop. It doesn’t help that morons stick up for this crap. The only justice left for the family is a civil suit to bankrupt this department, and hopefully take whatever this murderer cop has. Very disturbing!
ReplyDeleteMurder if I ever saw it.
ReplyDeleteCompletely unnecessary.
Cops are lowlife scumbags with a gun.
ReplyDeleteNice shot though
ReplyDeleteSo let a grand jury look at the shooting, 5:11 PM. This has nothing to do with the 'good old days'. It is a simple matter of whether this incident was a justifiable use of deadly force by the police. Wanna guess what a grand jury is going to say?
ReplyDeleteIf you support this kind of police action, then you don't deserve to live in a free country. Not even the cops support him and that's why he was let go from the department. Any body who wants police to behave in this manner is just a submissive who wants to be dominated, not a real American.
ReplyDeleteThis kind of behavior could even put police in danger. Why would they want to work with someone who conducted themselves in such an unprofessional manner?
That’s bad business.
ReplyDeleteDont blame the jury. The reason cops are acquited in cases like this where they obviously should be found guilty is because the prosecutors take a dive, take one for the team. Spread the word.
ReplyDeleteRight... spread the ramblings of a fucking idiot. If someone is acquitted as you say that means a charge was filed and so the prosecutor did do his job after all. And while you're at it, rocket surgeon, you might grasp the idea that to be convicted of any charge, a reasonable doubt standard has to be met. When that doesn't happen people get acquitted a.k.a. found not guilty.
ReplyDeleteAre you Antifa and other snowflakes better get a clue. Defense justification and use of force statutes exist so that anarchy does not destroy the civilized society so many sweat and bled to build. Don't fuck with the bull and you won't get the horn.
Never call the police they will only escalate the problem.
ReplyDelete533 your lack of the basic understanding of legal system and resort to personal attacks belies your lack of a quality education and common sense.
ReplyDeleteI don't think there are any "regular" citizens in Copland.
ReplyDeleteOnly cops, & the enemy, which is everyone else.
I am God! I have been God for thousands of years. I trained mankind on the ten commandments. If you fucking clowns do not take care of this psycho dickless tracy. I'm gonna feed his ass to a pack of shit eating dogs and shove your cover your butt use of force training up your ass so tight you'll need a jackhammer to get your eyeballs straight. I have three years olds that can grasp this was an execution.
ReplyDeleteStupid cops
ReplyDeleteThose people were White
That’s not how you treat white people
There is no reason to think that white people are gonna shoot cops
This cop should be executed. Make him an example to others
You always treat white citizens with the respect & Privilege they deserve
THe police department investigated which included reviewing policy and training. I seriously doubt they canned this crazy fucking officer for not selling his tickets to the policemen's ball.
ReplyDeleteShould have had the guy crawl backwards toward him. Sheesh.
