Tribute to the dead and their families was recently trampled upon at some locals demonstrate respect for life and good taste. Take a look:
Northeast church display vandalized
By Paul Thompson Northeast News On December 9, Norton Heights Community of Christ church (436 Norton) held a vigil of remembrance for each homicide victim in Kansas City during 2017. Every victim was represented with a white cross, which were placed on the grounds of the church.
We are at 149 and need 5 more to break the record set in 1993.
ReplyDeleteHow about paying some attention to the people that are alive and need help?
ReplyDeleteWhere’s sLIE? BLM? NAACP? Nowhere to be found
ReplyDeleteCome on Killa City just 5 more.
ReplyDeleteThis act of vandalism sums up the attitude that needs to be destroyed if the minorities ever expect to be taken seriously by society.
ReplyDeleteThey don’t expect to be taken seriously. They just want free stuff.
DeleteWhite crosses for black victims? That's stupid.
ReplyDeleteI know churches on both sides of the state line mean well by making this display. However, I don’t see any benefit to it. Residents know what the city has become and is this really the type of thing we want visitors to see?
ReplyDeleteWhen I see churches with crosses in their yard, I immediately think it is a ProLife protest of abortion.
ReplyDeleteSo in terms of branding, it appears this church with great intentions co-opted a meme, borrowed the imagery of some other politically motivated group.
I am sorry this church did that.
I am sorry this church had their public protest vandalized.
Can anyone on TKC suggest a DIFFERENT imagery plan for their anti-homicide protest?
I read here the names of the victims are on the crosses, but I could not see that in the pictures.
Since most were victims of gun violence, could they have tacked on a cheap plastic pistol on each cross? Thereby creating more visual interest and curiosity for the passersby? And a better news story???
Come on, TKC commenters--what say you?
STFU
DeleteOnce again, Tracy nails it.
ReplyDeletePun intended...but really, she has some good insights...
No respect no class, it's Indy avenue what you expect, street walkers to act like humans?
ReplyDeleteI will not suggest different imagery for the murdered persons memorial (not a protest) because I do not buy your premise that pro-life activists own that image.
ReplyDeleteNits gonna nig, if you dead or alive!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat if some of the victims were Jews? Or Muslims? Or atheists? Isn’t it kind of disrespectful to assume they want a cross representing their death?
ReplyDeleteIf some of them were Jews, good. If some were Muslim, fantastic!
Deletewe will mark her grave with a cheap plastic pistol
ReplyDeleteWhat were the local atheist club leaders doing at this time?
ReplyDeleteThey should be questioned.
