Fire prompts emergency demolition at abandoned Northland hotel

A fire has created an emergency demolition order for part of an abandoned hotel in Kansas City's Northland. The old Ramada Inn, near Interstate 435 and Front St., caught fire early Wednesday morning. Kansas City firefighters knocked down the fire in the atrium of the building before the entire building burned.

A local group that connects victims of crimes with tipsters has reached a major milestone. Stolen KC, founded three years ago, has reached 100,000 members. Dave Brucker three years ago founded the social media page on Facebook, which helps victims of theft recover what they've lost.

Hotel Indigo Kansas City Downtown is officially open for business at 11th Street and Baltimore Avenue. The downtown boutique hotel, which opened Thursday, even recorded its first sellout on Saturday night, aided by the NCAA Volleyball National Championship, which was played at Sprint Center, and the Kansas City Chiefs, who played the team's only regular-season Saturday game, Sales Manager Eileen Lange said.

    I didn't predict it would have been broken by Tuesday night and they would need to vote on a fix Wednesday.

    Passing a piece of crap bill is not a win. It's just a piece of crap.
