The monthly magazine gamebit didn't work and the glossy alternative periodical is far less important in the local news cycle.
Remember that their high hopes for a sustainable biz model were touted across local news outlets without question but our AWESOME TKC insiders and our blog community questioned their viability from the start.

The switch to a monthly format was the death rattle for The Pitch.
Reality is the the gimmie rag market is now dominated by FEAST magazine - Which is more of a sponsored content publishing endeavor.
Like it or not . . .
TKC IS THE LAST REMAINING INDEPENDENT ALTERNATIVE NEWS OUTLET IN KANSAS CITY!!!
Or at least the only one that's gully, awesome and snarky.
Here's the sitch according to this former Kansas City newsie . . .
Developing . . .
They'll be back stronger than ever.
ReplyDeletePeople LOVE magazines.
Not really. They stopped publishing. That was their downfall.
DeleteThis is a shame. They need to go back to the weekly format. People forgot about them as a monthly.
DeleteWill they bring back the escort ads?
ReplyDeleteYeah, 4:41, I really missed the "Alternate Lifestyles" personals.

ReplyDeleteYeah, if facts aren't your thing.
Suck a dick
Delete^^^ But you keep coming back for more.
ReplyDeleteIt's fun watching mentally ill people use the Internet, 5:01.
DeleteNot just referring to the commenters.
No more man bites dog stories.
ReplyDeleteThe pitch has always been a gay mag that nobody ever really cared about, good riddance
ReplyDeleteThank you to for being independent
ReplyDeleteI'm with 5:21 pm. The pitch weekly was misnamed from the get-go. It should have been Bitch Weakly. Nothing but a hang out for fruits loons and the chronically sullen. Now all of its subscribers can go back to punching police horses and carrying signs for $5 an hour at various liberal protests.
ReplyDeleteThe Pitch is dead--good riddance !
ReplyDeleteIT'S THE TIME OF THE YEAR TO FEAST. AND GOOD CHEER. HAVE A GREAT CHRISTMAS AND A GOOD HOLIDAY AND I HOPE TO READ EVERYONES COMMENTS IN THE NEW YEAR.
ReplyDeleteGoodbye Bitch Meekly.
ReplyDeleteStill looking to hear about their new ownership.
ReplyDeletePitch/Inc. could make a great paper!
Ironic that the Pitch just published an article that blew the lid off the KCI Fiasco, showed everyone what a worthless rag the Star has become, and now has been sold.
ReplyDeleteGood point 8:46 - It was a good article but their main detail was something that the business journal reported two weeks ago.
ReplyDeleteThe problem was the pay wall and nobody could see the content.
But overall their reporting had declined over the years.
Hearne Christopher is dancing in the street in Topeka while groping fat welfare chicks in his joy over this news.
ReplyDeleteWho? I am hoping we can get McTavish back working in KC. That guy was a great writer.
DeleteAmazing to read old issues, especially when it was just a Pennylane/Westport rag.
ReplyDeleteMidtown used to be so cool.
Whenever I saw a stack of pitch weekly’s I’d always grab the stack and toss them in the garbage outside. I feel partially responsible; LOL
