KANSAS CITY #BETTERKCI FACT CHECK: NON-BINDING EDGEMOOR RESOLUTION DECEIVES NEW AIRPORT VOTERS!!!

This week, all of Kansas City media conspired to keep voters stupid on the reality of the hot mess which confronts City Hall amid ongoing airport negotiations.

First, check the City Hall talking points from a Council Lady who has staked her career on KCI despite far more pressing concerns in her district:

Reality which contradicts "back on track" hype:

1. This resolution is NON-BINDING. Council could rip it up and throw it away overnight if they wanted. It's supposed to be a sign of good faith and simply something that would stifle ongoing debate and public disappointment with this ugly process.

2. AECOM & Burns & Mac team are pushing hard to get back into the mix via Union connections, support from J.E. Dunn insiders and consultants who simply feel better "dealing" with locals. This is about more than press conferences and public pronouncements - Instead, it's sort of a citywide "gentlemen's agreement" to keep this work completely local in a way that risks the integrity (lol) of the entire project.

3. Look for more collaboration for airport cash - We've got more news on this front but the basic idea is to bring enough people into this sketchy process that criticism (and investigation) would offend too many people to take hold.

A bold prediction . . .

BURNS & MAC WILL INEVITABLY FIND AN EPIC NEW AIRPORT PAYDAY AMID THE UPCOMING TALKS WHICH THREATEN TO BECOME AN EVEN BIGGER CIRCUS IN 2018!!!

Developing . . .

TK, while I might agree with you that the "back on track" reporting is overstated. I think what's really happening is that KC doesn't want to deal with it right now.

Reassurance over the holidays isn't such a bad thing. And probably a good move for Jolie and the Mayor.

Somebody left a comment earlier on the airport that made a lot of sense.

KC needs to start over.

The public deserves a vote on the construction AND the design of the airport. This whole process was backward and WRONG. If the Mayor & Council want to make it right, they need to go back to the voters for guidance. That is the way Democracy works.

The city has deceived the voters oh this issue from day one.

Too much doom and gloom. These airport talks have done a great thing. They've given us a lot of reason to question Jolie Justus about her priorities while on Council. If she wants to be Mayor, she's going to have to answer a lot of questions about why she has way more to say about development out North than what is happening right in her own back yard.

Somebody is gonna sue the city out of this mess

I think Joco should build the airport, since Kansas City has a lying dishonest mayor and so many incompetent thieves Like Quinton Lucas and Jermaine Reed and that Jolie chick who eats a lot of pussy.

Joco could build the airport since it’s not going to cost taxpayers anything

Move the airport to st Joseph they could do a better job of it. It’s half way there already, with all the bs of Wbe and mbe it will be a mess if kc keeps going.

Any truth about the DOJ looking into the corrupt ways that Slie and council are running things in KC?

One could only hope!

Jolie should join the Trump cabinet and suck up there right. Such a loser anything to hold on to her pad.

148 murders tonight and all they’re worried about is a stupid airport, where does Jolie stand on the murders and crime in killa city? Just think, we can break the record with six more!!!

Sure it’s 148? I was thinking 147

To those who think the airport is halfway to St. Joseph....not really. It's twice as far to St. Joe from KCI as it is to City Hall. I propose moving the airport to Olathe - they already have the start of an airport down there, and the VIP's who keep the airport running would be more than happy to have the planes skimming over their houses at all hours. You haven't lived until you've experienced a 737 screaming out of the sky, right over your home.
