JACKSON COUNTY EXEC FRANK WHITE OBJECTS TO 'UNLAWFUL ORDINANCES' AND LEGISLATURE OVERRIDE!!!

Jackson County Executive responds to Legislature’s veto overrides of three unlawful ordinances

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jackson County Executive Frank White, Jr. has issued the following statement after the Legislature’s veto overrides of ordinances 5061, 5062 and 5052.

“I recently vetoed ordinances 5061, 5062 and 5052 due to the fact that they had been determined to violate our county’s charter and state law. In doing so, I was hopeful that the passage of time would allow us to move forward in compliance with the county’s charter and state law. Unfortunately today, the County Legislature chose to override my vetoes and once again pass these unlawful measures. As County Executive, it is my responsibility to execute and enforce the provisions of the county charter, code and applicable state law. And despite today’s action and the desires of some, I will continue to do so.

The County Legislature does not determine who is or who is not employed. Therefore, I will work within my authority to protect all county associates from losing their jobs. As such, today, I issued three Executive Orders, one of which includes immediate cost saving measures.

Additionally, despite being aware that there are significant legal issues surrounding the oversight of COMBAT, I was disappointed to see that the County Prosecutor issued a statement that only adds to the confusion. As this ordinance has been found to be unlawful for numerous reasons, my office will continue to oversee COMBAT and will take whatever actions are necessary to ensure the law is appropriately enforced.”

  1. I think if Caleb would go away Franks problems would go away...

    1. At this point, it is painfully obvious that Frank's ego is Frank's biggest problem.

  2. I'm not close to this situation, but 6:30 seems to be on target.

Does the county offer fee or low cost mental health and counseling services? Frank can't seem to see the forest for the trees. Depth perception. Everyone on the Legislature is tired of his ass, not just Caleb.

I know a good gypsy who could read Frank's tea leaves! It's not in the cards for him to stay in this office.

Poor Frank. Just so disconnected and defensive, and more importantly, not a good manager.
Now that he bailed his house out of being sold on the courthouse steps, ten days ago (what, doesn't he open his mail? He didn't even KNOW??), maybe he would have done like many savvy homeowners did today, and prepaid the first half of his 2018 Jackson County property taxes.

(Now that the IRS clarified that this week. How crazy is that...to have Congress pass a bill the week of Christmas--that affects every homeowner in the country--and then have the IRS mansplain it to us THIS week. I tell you, the gals at the courthouse can't take off work this week. And neither can the mortgage companies. It's indentured servitude time, to answer America's questions.) Oh well, at least Jackson County will have an influx of cash this week.

    Back to Frank--
oh wait. He'd have to have managed his personal finances properly and saved up some cash, if HE wants to prepay half his property taxes. And since he just took a presumably illegal third party loan from Mike Sanders' law partner to halt the foreclosure, well, I'm guessing Frank doesn't have the cash.

Question: Do they allow County Executives to wear their very nicely tailored silk suit if they are arrested and sent to the Jackson county jail???

  3. Tracy Thomas -- Blows my mind after that crap he pulled to save his house, Frank White has the nerve to lecture about "unlawful measures." I don't know if what he did was legal or not, but it was certainly unethical, and, since he kept it secret, it was definitely dishonest too.

  4. "The County Legislature does not determine who is or who is not employed. Therefore, I will work within my authority to protect all county associates from losing their jobs."

Actually, the Legislators are perfectly within their rights to approve a budget that eliminates positions, and if they are giving Caleb Clifford and that deplorable PR staff Angie Jeffries was running the ax, then I say more power to them. Those people need to go.

Now if the Legislature could do something to impeach Frank's unethical ass...

  5. Frank White really needs to give it a rest. Every time he opens his mouth he comes across as a pouty, bitchy, whiny, mean-spirited total jackass. Frank, now that it's come out why you took the county executive job, because you desperately needed the six-figure salary, nobody's listening to you. You can't claim the moral high ground when it's obvious how low down you really are.

  6. Basically, according to Frank White, the County Executive has near dictatorial powers. I hope that's not the case, at least with him as executive.

  7. Frank has to resign.
Thankfully for Frank - the local rag is currently on Brownbacks ass... god only knows why.
    Frank has to resign.
Frank doesn’t understand how to get along with people... and he would rather spend all his money than pay his house payment.
Frank is an embarrassment to this great city and he says so many disrespectful things about our beloved KC Royals.

The next time you see Frank- ask him why he can’t manage his money.
Ask him if he really thinks the great citizens of Jackson deserve someone like him?

    Here is a novel idea:

Maybe Frank could go into business with our other proud political dude - Clever.

The could start a Carwash and have someone Co-sign on their loan.

Why do we have these idiots working for us?

  8. I don't understand Frank pronouncing actions as "illegal", isn't that a function of the judiciary? None of this has been heard in a court of law, yet, tho it does appear that is where this is headed unfortunately.

  9. @ 7:26 Frank White is a total Dick-tator.

  10. 7:46 Heading for court at the taxpayers' expense.

I'm betting the County Prosecutor knows more about the law when it comes to COMBAT than our Mr. Baseball county executive. Also, if the county legislature doesn't control the purse strings and have the power to cut off the funding for positions like the chief of staff, then Jackson County is jacked up even worse than I thought.

  11. Frank is freaking out that if he has to be more than a front man, while an unelected prick like Caleb Clifford wields all the power of county executive, he's going to be exposed as a fraud. It's too late Frank. You took the job for the fat paycheck. Now start doing the work or go away. If you were a real leader really in charge and not a puppet on a string, you would not have to be told to get rid of Caleb Clifford.

  12. COULD SOMEONE GIVE FRANK A JOB SO THAT HE WONT NEED THIS JOB FOR THE MONEY ANYMORE? Thx

  13. I ain't listening to a thing Frank White has to say about anything else until he comes clean about the deal/gift that saved his house from being foreclosed on.

    A. Who at the county tipped you off that your house was a day away from being auctioned off on the courthouse steps? Does this person give everybody a last-minute call, or did you merit special treatment as the county executive?

    B. Who gave you the money to save your house and exactly how much money did they give you?

    C. What were the terms of this loan/gift?

    D. Even if this was all on the up and up, explain how your house got under-assessed by around $40,000.

    ReplyDelete
  14. @ 10:53 How do you come clean about being so dirty?

  15. On what planet does Frank White have any credibility left, because here on earth he is fresh out?

  16. What everyone has missed is that Tarwater is engineering all this behind the scenes and no one is trying to stop him.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Right on 11:30!

Dan Tarwater engineered it so Frank White would hire Caleb Clifford.

Dan Tarwater engineered it so Frank White reacts to not always getting his way by throwing a hissy fit.

Dan Tarwater engineered it so Frank White would ignore the expert's report calling the jail situation a crisis, while inmates and guards are still being attacked in that hell hole.

Dan Tarwater engineered it so Frank White would be a total incompetent, yet obnoxiously arrogant A-hole as county executive.

Dan Tarwater engineered it so Frank White could not manage his personal finances and need a shady "gift" from some mystery man to save his house from foreclosure and, in the process, lose the public's trust.

That Dan Tarwater is one hell of an engineer.

  18. The most cost-saving measure the county could take is let Frank's high-priced advisers go, along with his PR team. They ought to save more than half-million dollars.

  19. Heard there was a hiring freeze now at the County and the Caleb is now appointed to Acting Chief Economic Development Officer.

  20. You heard right... until the Legislators override these latest executive orders from Frank. He can't seem to get it through his thick skull that Caleb's got to go.
