15-Cent Missouri Minimum Wage Hike Insult

While most people are hoping to win the lottery over the holidays in order to avoid going back to work . . .Anyone in the Show-Me State getting paying $7.85 for an hour of work is pretty much committing wage theft . . . Anyone getting that wage needs to think about better options and shouldn't feel too bad about goofing off on the job . . . Here's a reality check for locals who still, mistakenly, believe that wealth trickles down. Read more:

Minimum wage workers in 18 states, including Missouri, will see higher pay starting Monday

Minimum wage workers in 18 states will see larger paychecks starting Jan. 1, according to the Economic Policy Institute, thanks primarily to minimum wage increases approved by either voters or state legislatures. Maine's minimum wage workers will get the biggest pay raise, an 11 percent increase from $9 an hour to $10 an hour, as part of a ballot measure approved by the state's voters in 2016.

  1. Again . . . Minimum wage is NOT for raising a family or even for supporting one's self if living alone. Goof off because if your wage? I offer that the wage is due to you goofing off. Count the crew the next time you are inside any fast food. Those same chains performed better with HALF manpower . . . 40 years ago. Of course, those working fast food then we're on their way to a real career.

Education, Trade Schools, Training. Instead of filling out the forms for straight government assistance, fill out the forms for tuition assistance. Trade Schools will gladly help you get a grant to attend. THEN, do something with that training.

Operating Engineers (neat name for Heavy Equipment Operator) make upwards of $40/hour. City services pay unskilled workers around $20/hour. Both areas carry benefits.

Absent that, join the military and learn a skill there. No guarantee if a job at the end of your service, but if you knuckle-down and put money away (doubled, even tripled in value by the military), go to a good college & get ahead.

    You gotta want it, people.

  3. You don't get it @ 6:31. It's not okay to steal from people no matter what your reasons are. 7.85 is wage theft. It's not a fair price and anyone offering that is stealing from workers and deserves to be shamed for it.

    Got it?

  4. 7:54 No, I don't "Got it" moron.

Read the comment again, then, if you still cant follow the logic, go flip burgers for a couple of years and THEN get a neck tatoo.

    Idiot.

  5. There is a dramatic shortage of electricians and other trades throughout the US. Blacks are not smart enough to work construction, but there are plenty of jobs for the rest if they want to apply themselves and work hard.

  6. ^^^^ your an idiot

    Got it?

  7. It's really simple, if you're paying people 7.85 for an hour of work than you are STEALING from them. That number is kept artificially low by greedy businesses and corrupt politicians.

It might be legal but that doesn't make it right. Not even fast food companies keep people at that number for very long. It's a shameful amount and it brings down everyone's salary.

Those who pay that kind of wage deserve to be shamed and derided for their greed.

That is what should happen, that is what will happen this year.

Count on it. Get ready for it. Expect it.

    Got it?.

  8. It's easier to extort than earn a raise.

It's easier to vote for a raise than earn it.

If only you could threaten the labor force to educate themselves and learn a skill the same way.

  9. Only an entitlement asshole would presume to accuse an employer of 'wage theft' for paying unskilled, unmotivated employees the state mandated minimum wage.

A lot of agriculture jobs pay 150% of the state minimum; of course you'll be building fence in 20 degree weather with the wind whipping at you or carrying an armload of steel posts and driving them by hand when if you don't slip in wet cowshit along the way. Sorry, no internet breaks, no free hot lunch and stay off your damn phone. And water the stock while your headed back for those 90 pound rolls of barbed wire. And don't forget to walk the hoses out!

    Crybabies.

  10. 9:13 has the typical attitude of a ripoff minimum wage employer.

They are thieves of the worst kind, they steal from WORKING people. That's why everyone who pays this slave wage will be called out for their horrible business practices.

Send the word out to your friends.

It's time to inform and shame those who are taking advantage of the works.

    Shame on you all.

  11. 9:29 typical libtard b.s., what are you, 16? get an education and go find a real job and earn your money........ god you entitled bastards are worthless. This is why the world will come to an end, you all are too effing lazy to do the work, if you had a real job then you could afford your specialty coffee and build your own safe place and maybe just maybe you can be a proud supporting member of society like all the rest of us

  12. 9:29 - no, shame on you, for your ignorance of fundamental economics. Go ahead, contact the SEIU and see if they have any professional demonstrator job openings - but I'll bet they won't pay you anywhere near $7.85 per hour.

  13. Of course these idiots think just because someone owns a business and employs people at a minimum wage they automatically think they are filthy “Clinton” rich. Look at the clintons, they don’t have jobs and are billionaires, those are the people you should be pissed off at, moron

  14. How about a Constitutional Amendment that restricts the Missouri Governor's Salary to 15 times, and the State Legislator's salaries to 10 times, the State's Minimum Wage, with increases limited to an amount equal to the increase in Minimum Wage?
    Think that might get results?

    1. The result would be a wage increase. For the Governor and legislators. 15 times $7.85 is a yearly salary of $244,920. Current salary is $133,821.

Legislators would make out even better. This would raise their salary to $163,280 from $35,915 plus per diem.

  15. 12:45, thanks for doing the math. That would create a tough situation for 12:12. My guess is his hatred of political authority figures is so virulent that he would demand a cut in the minimum wage so their salaries would suffer.

Most of the people earning minimum wage do not work at McDonald's.

1:25, were insulted that the corporations were given a gift by their political employees?

People who pay minimum wage, especially the sub-minimum wage they're allowed to pay waitresses essentially making them panhandlers for tips, are low life's. I don't care if they think they're "business owners", they're thieves.

    ReplyDelete
  18. 4:19 - you're the thief, SSDI scammer. You obviously can use a computer well enough to get a job instead of sponging off taxpayers, INCLUDING taxpayers who are making minimum wage. If low wage workers realized their taxes are being used to support parasites, they'd rip you to shreds and no jury in the world would convict them of anything but littering.

  19. Fuck a bunch of low achievers. Let them live on Ramen noodles and walk wherever they need to go.

  20. B'lie'RON doesn't give a rat's ass about the actual earners. He just wants their wages as high as possible, so tax revenues will be ample for his freeloader, fraudster gubmint grabs.

Funky's raycis ramblings on here have been dismissive and hateful of whites. Yeah, that one about only an all black jury's verdict could be believed by him proves he's blatantly race-biased.

So, how about that West Virginny KnowItAll get his bennies paid in proportion from the total of only blacks' and non-whites' rates of tax collections to disabilities funds. Uh huh, blind, arthritic B'lie'RON doesn't hate "seeing" whitey's MONEY making its way into his "aching" hands while he reads blogs and taps keys 24/7!

  21. Need to raise it to $15.60 to get more folks off of public assistance. Save Mo. millions. Just ask Seattle what happens with $15 min wage....everyone goes part time to not lose welfare payments.
