TKC MONDAY NIGHT QUESTION: SHOULD KANSAS CITY CHIEFS CB MARCUS PETERS GET A PRIZE FOR NATIONAL ANTHEM PROTEST GIVEN GQ 'CITIZEN OF THE YEAR' TRIBUTE TO COLIN KAEPERNICK???
Today, an influential MSM cultural outlet offers accolades for a footballer who basically lost his career over his social justice protest against the national anthem. Locally, the similar yet far less eloquent activism of a Kansas City Chiefs player has been either politely ignored, obscured or unchallenged.
A look at the latest culture war battle . . .
Here's GQ honoring a controversial athlete the "Citizen Of The Year" title and their explanation:
Colin Kaepernick Will Not Be Silenced
Of course there's push back but that doesn't really represent the "mainstream" opinion of working sports journalists . . .
Fox News: Britt McHenry, ex-ESPN reporter, blasts GQ for naming Colin Kaepernick 'Citizen of the Year'
And so our question for tonight . . .
SHOULD MARCUS PETERS GET A PRIZE FOR HIS PROTEST???
If Mr. Peters could save the Chiefs from the annual football implosion that typically dashes the hopes of Kansas City fanboys . . . He might garner more support for his politics that are still heretofore undefined despite a really condescending interview without any tough questions.
Meanwhile, most Kansas City Chiefs fans seem desperate to move past the crisis of conscience that still looms over the NFL.
You decide . . .
Peters has been pretty great this year and one of the few standouts on the team. If it wasn't for that, he would be gone. Just ask Roy Miller.
ReplyDeleteIn reality, this is probably some more motivation on him to perform.
Why are you obsessing about his Tony?
ReplyDeleteDo you think kneeling during the anthem is a crime?
Do you think he should go to jail?
I mean, WTF, he lives in a allegedly free country.
Yes he should get a prize. A PINK slip
ReplyDeleteGQ is a fag publication, screw them and the butt plug they road in on.
ReplyDeleteYes Byron and Peters should be in the same cell.
ReplyDeleteIt's OK, 6:03, you can come out of the closet now.
ReplyDeleteGQ's runner up for their Man of the Year was Harvey Weinstein.
ReplyDeleteI think we need common sense background checks for the internet to keep Byron away.
ReplyDeleteWhat we really need is for people to stop commenting on his post. Starting now !
ReplyDelete6:03 is just haunted by the daily thoughts of taking dicks up his own ass.
ReplyDeleteOf course he would never do such a thing as he is absolutely disgusted by queers.
But why, then, do the images and fantasies keep coming back?
I certainly don’t approve of the anthem protesting and acknowledge that it has a profound negative affect on the public image of the NFL.
ReplyDeleteBut I think I will still go ahead and go to the Chiefs game later this month that I already bought a ticket for (back before all this started), just to “give you people the middle finger”. Its the same reason I continue to openly support Mizzou Sports despite the negative image resulting from the 2015 protests.
Joey played the skin flute for Marching Mizzou.
DeleteOh yeah speaking of Mizzou - one win away from bowl eligibility!!!
ReplyDeleteKapernick looks like Marv from Home Alone when he got electrocuted
ReplyDeletegoodell
ReplyDeleteI know where this question came from!
ReplyDelete^^^ No way I'm clicking a link like that in the TKC comment section
ReplyDeleteFuck the NFL.
ReplyDeleteGQ....never read it. Never will.
ReplyDeleteNeither one of those clowns deserves anything
ReplyDeletePeters should be honored as “Illiterate of the Year”.
ReplyDeleteByron likes peters. Lots of peters.
ReplyDeleteJournalists, whether they work at a newspaper, magazine or TV, seem intent on committing mass career suicide.
ReplyDeleteTime for a lynching during th halftime show!
ReplyDeleteSend the guy home. Maybe he can become a preacher.
ReplyDeleteNot a preacher - an iman.
