TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! HOPEFUL POLITICOS AND BIZ COMMUNITY CLAIM CERNER COLLABO WITH AWS PUSHES KANSAS CITY HIGHER IN THE RANKINGS TO GARNER AMAZON HQ2!!!

The local elite are jumping aboard the latest tech bandwagon and touting good news for Kansas City this week.

AWS and Cerner plan to announce a deeper partnership at AWS re:Invent this week. Our blog community of KICK-ASS TKC INSIDERS talked about this topic before any other news outlet in the metro . . .

This morning here's local news playing ketchup . . .

KC Biz Journal: Cerner reportedly will partner with Amazon on population health efforts

And so . . .

BEHIND THE SCENES KANSAS CITY'S TOP RANKING POLITICOS AND BIZ ELITE ARE PUSHING THIS DEVELOPMENT AS 'PROOF' THIS COWTOWN IS MOVING UP IN THE AMAZON HQ2 RANKINGS!!!

KC Insider offers a tidbit from a rough draft of an u: "This deal shows us that the entire businesses community in the Kansas City metro has a lot to offer Amazon.  Obviously, we hope this local partnership will lead to great success and even more cooperation in the future . . ."

This digital chest thumping is important given that Mayor Sly's spam campaign was seen as "desperate" by most of the tech community.

And so we turn to our cavalcade of angry bloggy commenters for real world perspective on Internets biz hype . . .

DOES THE CERNER DEAL WITH AWS MOVE KANSAS CITY CLOSER TO HOSTING AMAZON HQ2???

More than the airport or any other new shiny toy - The prospect of garnering 50k jobs helping to ship cheap Chinese junk across the nation actually would be a great achievement for the Kansas City biz class . . . Or at least that's part of the ongoing "momentum" pep talk they're giving to everybody else.

You decide . . .

  1. Still a long shot but closer than before.

There's no way that Atlanta would make a better destination.

    1. Momentum is exactly the correct term to be used in this situation. The airport vote is already starting to have benefits and we keep making progress despite the haters and the naysayers. KC is moving forward and our business are working with even bigger players to bring more jobs to our community. Pity for those who can't don't want to see the progress white the rest of us Go4KC!

  2. Its's no a bad thing but there are also a lot more serious competitors in the mix.

  3. If they can hold off another few months, Sprint will likely have failed and their location should be available at a reasonable price.

If Sly needs for this to be in KCMO in order to affirm his manhood, he could slap some lipstick on the east side and try to pawn that off. There are entire blocks that are sitting vacant.

  4. if people were smart they start snatching up the land around the Cerner complex or it could go above the new cave complex on the west side of 435 where they would have above-ground and below-ground Storage or warehouse space this is a slam dunk for Kansas City. There is nobody else in the country that can offer that. You can have it how many warehouses have a basement as big as the above ground facility. Kansas City on the big win

  5. Stay away. I don't want to see Kansas City ruined by corporate largess and homogenized corporate culture.

Austin's no longer weird. Nashville lost its character.

Don't want to see KC lose its distinctive "brand" by being like everyone else.

  6. Those Cerner slaves will fit right in with all the warehouse slaves.

  7. Flaw: that there's a ranking list anywhere that anyone outside of Amazon's board can see.

Since there's not, why bother speculating?

  8. I cannot see any company wanting to relocate to a corrupt, crime ridden city. We do have a low cost of living but that cost of living is low because people don't want to move here. No streetcars, entertainment districts, sports arenas or new airports does anything to change that equation.

  9. ^^Really?? Where have you ever been?^^ Your problem(among others readily apparent) is that you live in the entirely made-up bubble of the TKC echo chamber. You read the same idiots posting the same idiotic comments day after day, and soon you believe it to be true. Maybe travel a little. Go to some different cities. Visit some different states. You'll get a different opinion. One many of the real and diverse people in this country already share. That KC is actually a hidden gem in this vast country of ours and has a lot going for it. TKC isn't one of those things.

Since Amazon already has a distribution center in Seattle, choosing a mid-western city makes no sense.

    Atlanta will be chosen.

    1. Yep.. you could say they're expanding East, Seattle, Kansas City?Atlanta? Please don't forget the fact we are the number one underground storage facility for government records nobody can offer what Kansas City is offering and way of location

  12. 1:55 Gems don't stay hidden for long in this day. Perhaps the gem is more tarnished than the Chamber of Commerce would like to admit. Just maybe if they hadn't spent the last 30 years looting KCMO the gem would shine.

  13. KC definitely has a chance at the new headquarters. I don't see why people would be against creating more jobs. Why hate on KC?

Also, Amazon is just going to keep on building so more partnerships seem worth pursing.

  14. I tried to tell you all that I have I side info that Amazon is very interested in the area between Lawrence and KCI.

    ReplyDelete
  15. 4:41, probably closer to Lawrence, as that would put it near the BNSF intermodal facility in Edgerton.

  16. Insiders say the reason for the Kansas side is the 1% earnings tax... employees refused to go- the top notchers.
Also- public schools are the worst of all cities considered.
Incentives are key and with the positive plus key percolating- Kansas is the easy answer.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Dream on KC. the only thing this Amazon campaign is good for is giving the Sly crew and excuse to piss away more tax payer money.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The E-Tax would actually HELP Amazon because I'm sure part of the incentive package from KCMO is that Amazon the Company gets to KEEP the collected E-Tax dollars that would normally go to the city but would instead go back to the Amazon coffers.
