Newspaper guest column offers a bit of a Western Culture teaching moment . . . A Hobson's choice is a free choice in which only one thing is offered. Because a person may refuse to accept what is offered, the two options are taking it or taking nothing. In other words, one may "take it or leave it"
It isn't hard to recognize a secretive boondoggle in proposed KCI project
Should a majority of Kansas City voters elect to pass the referendum for a new single terminal at Kansas City International Airport in November, we will truly be buying (and despite what proponents say, paying for ourselves) a pig in a poke. We're offered a Hobson's choice: Choose the single terminal.
Troy sent out an email today telling all city employees and Their family members to vote for the new airport. Sounds pretty illegal to me

ReplyDeleteVote no! Force a common-sense remodel.
ReplyDeleteif no tax payer money is being used than why do we have to vote on it ?

9:27 p.m. is RIGHT. If taxpayers aren't picking up the tab, why are they asking for a vote? Good question. And if the airlines are going to pay for everything, there should be a statement from these airlines stating that clearly. VOTE NO on November 7 - a common sense remodel is, common sense.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of airlines -- Virgin America has been gobbled up by Alaska Airlines. Less competition and higher fares. It could happen to any of the airlines serving KCI. Fair warning.
